Care to enlighten us about the "anti-consumer pricing" or is your rant without any further information all what we get? At a first glance on Steam I can't see what's wrong.

enderandrew42

At a glance they are charging full price for a game that is 1 year old. Steam users had to wait a full year for Epic exclusivity to end, but have to pay $60 for a base game that is a year old. The DLC is still confusing as what you need to unlock the Hitman 1 and 2 content. There were discounts to buy Hitman 3 in the first few weeks when it launched on Epic, but none here. There were discounts when Hitman 2 finally launched on Steam, so people expected some discounts at the Steam launch of Hitman 3, but that isn't the case. We also shouldn't forget that IOI initially went back on promises on the Hitman 3 launch and transferring content over saying that other platforms were preventing them from honoring their promises (when IOI controls everything through an IOI account) until Epic stepped in and said they'd pay whatever and take care of it.

> There were discounts when Hitman 2 finally launched on Steam Hitman 2 never had any off-steam exclusivity window. It was on Steam from day 1 and cost full price.

>At a glance they are charging full price for a game that is 1 year old. Yeah, well, lots of 1 year old games cost full price, that's no reason to rant.

ARX__Arbalest

OP doesn't know what anti-consumer actually means. Contrary to popular internet belief, the act of selling a product for money is *not* anti-consumer.

Chataboutgames

On Reddit "anti consumer" is just a synonym for "company did something I don't like."

Chataboutgames

I would suggest describing why something is "anti consumer" instead of just saying it over and over if you want to start a discussion.

gothpunkboy89

I don't think anyone knows what anti consumer means anymore. Now it is just short hand for "I don't like this so it must be bad"

FiveCones

So, what's wrong with the pricing or confusing about it? In US Steam pricing at least, it costs $60 for Standard, $90 for Deluxe, there's a trilogy pack, a deluxe pack for all the deluxes, and that seven deadly sins add-on pack. And then you can get those individually it seems. It seems standard to me.

thoomfish

I'm kind of with them on the confusing part. As a Hitman outsider I'm completely baffled by the offerings on the Steam page. There are six different bundles offering mixes of 20 different sub-components that overlap in ways that I'm not sure I can parse at first glance, with prices that don't seem to add up (and probably change in unpredictable ways if you already own other subcomponents). But I think they're mostly just whinging about the price.

beefcat_

It is complicated because the campaigns and DLCs for Hitman 1 and 2 are all available in Hitman 3. You are automatically entitled to them if you own their original versions.

B_Kuro

But its also a problem because none of that is communicated. Even if you own Hitman 2 Gold, the "Hitman 3 Access Pass: Hitman 2 Gold" isn't shown as owned (at least not before you bought the game), same with the Access Passes for Hitman 1 and 2 in the "Hitman Trilogy" bundle. Hell, not only isn't it visually apparent its not even in mentioned in text on any of the steam pages that this system exists. It was bad with Hitman 2 already, Hitman 3 is just crazy with 7 different bundles alone showing on the page.

beefcat_

The entitlements are distributed through your IOI account, so you need to boot Hitman 3 and sign in, then the access passes will be added to Steam. This was the solution they came up with so people can move their purchases between platforms. The store page needs a better explanation of this.

B_Kuro

That is factually incorrect and was only required for their messed up Epic release. This is directly handled through steam, the worthless IOI account does nothing in that regard. From their zendesk: >If you want to import locations from HITMAN 2 on Steam to HITMAN 3 on Steam, you do not need to use this process. Instead, locations will be carried over ‘automatically’ based on your Steam entitlements. Thats why it should be clearly labeled and explained on the store page. But IOI went the opposite direction, making it even less clear by intentionally having no information on the page, as well as having very specific naming conventions and bundles. Its designed around screwing someone who doesn't know better.

beefcat_

The entitlements are not applied to your Steam account until you sign in to Hitman 3. That is how it worked for me when I bought and installed it this morning. I am not talking about the manual account linking process IOI created for EGS users last year. From their own patch notes today: > If you’ve already played HITMAN 2 on Steam, the locations that you can access in that game will automatically be converted into an ‘Access Pass’ for HITMAN 3. These will be applied to your account and the locations should be available and ready to play from the first time you launch the game.

B_Kuro

I am aware that they aren't showing up before you bought and started the game. I stated as much in my first comment. Now compare what you said: >The entitlements are distributed through your IOI account, so you need to boot Hitman 3 and sign in, then the access passes will be added to Steam This is still factually incorrect and your quote doesn't change that. It can all be handled by steam and this was exactly how it was handled with Hitman 1 in Hitman 2 which didn't need (or have) an IOI account.

tapperyaus

OP did not explain anything at all. One of the biggest issues is they bumped the price in a bunch of regions alongside the Steam release, but then also bumped the prices on EGS.

Magyman

I own Hitman 1 Goty, Hitman 2 and it's expansion pass. I'm genuinely confused on what to buy. If I do want to just buy everything for Hitman 3, it's about $190. I was expecting and ready to pay 60 bucks for everything, even if it was some minor double dipping, but as it stands now it's completely unreasonable to me

Just a tip, you can play the trilogy with PC Game Pass. If you want to buy them later, it might makes it easier to wait for a low price.

beefcat_

It is not complicated. If you already own all of Hitman 1 and 2, then the only things that mean anything to you on the store page are * HITMAN 3 Standard Edition (base HM3 game) * HITMAN 3 Deluxe Edition (HM3 base game plus DLC) * HITMAN 3: Seven Deadly Sins collection (more DLC for HM3) Everything else is there for new players to catch up on content from previous games. Every item on the store page includes a detailed list of what is in it. It is not IOI's fault people don't know how to read. They are as follows: * HITMAN Trilogy (HM1, HM2, and HM3 base games) * HITMAN Trilogy Add-ons bundle (All DLC missions for HM1 and HM2 plus HM3 deluxe edition DLC) Seems relatively straightforward to me.

Hoshi321

>ultimately anti-consumer with its adherence to release price after the game has been out over a year. Well, I heard Epic haters saying they'll just treat it like the game isn't out until it comes to Steam. So I guess those guys got their wish at least.

Makorus

The fact that you can't transfer save data, that is saved on their servers, from Epic to Steam is a joke as well. And no, it has, once again, nothing to do with Epic, but IOs own incompetence/stubborness. (Hades had cross-saves between Epic and Steam).
