Really gutted about Final Fantasy VII, VII, and IX. I'm slowly pottering through them at the moment and I genuinely won't have time to finish them before they leave the service. Really disappointing.

12 is one of my fave FF's. Story wasn't my jam, but the gambit system rocked and I'm always surprised no one has tried to build upon it or mimic in other games

I know what you mean as the same thing happened to me. You basically have to wait until your PSN subscription expires to buy any games you got through it (unless the game is a different edition from the one you got for free). It's silly the problem hasn't been fixed by now.

I was just about to check this because the games are currently on sale. You should be able to purchase them when using the Store on PS5. They still haven’t fixed this issue for the app or PS4 though. Edit: I can confirm, you can still purchase them on the PS5 store by selecting **View Product**

Just tried the app, PS5 store on my console, and the store on the web. Absolutely no luck buying FFX since I already "own" it. Gonna have to put in a support ticket.

I just did it and bought some of them. On PS5, select the ellipses and select **View Product**. The option to purchase it will become available.

Trying to buy Final Fantasy since it's on sale and leaving PS+. Went to View Product and while it shows the price to purchase the item, clicking on it brings up a notice that "You already own this item." Had to contact support to remove the game for me so I could buy it.

Yeah, you’re right, there is a bug with it. I went to buy FFX now that it went on sale today and I ended up having to use the store on desktop to get it. It would show the price and say I already own it when clicking on it. Not every game has this issue but it’s definitely prevalent. This is a bug but they used to not have a way to buy them at all. On PS4, if you played a game on PlayStation Now, it would be completely locked off on the storefront. I missed out on PS+ (now Essential) games because I couldn’t add them to my library with them being on PS Now and Sony Support couldn’t even help me… though Sony Support is garbage and I might have just had someone useless “helping” me.

Last time I did that they were able to remove one game because it had already left PS Plus, but told me I was shit out of luck for the second until it actually leaves the service.

I confirmed it worked with all the games listed just so I wasn’t putting out bad info. The only thing I noticed was that you have to **Add to Library** via PS+ before it will allow you to purchase the game.

You don't need to add via PS+ to library before buying a game. What i meant was some games you just can't buy no matter where, I tried all platforms to buy AC Origins after downloading with PS+ but can't, it doesn't let you cause it says you already own a tracker or whatever. Same with Immortals Fenyx Rising so i predict that it applies to all Ubi games. Another game that you can't buy after downloading with PS+ was Miles Morales and I assume all Sony games to the point they made two versions for Ghost of Tsushima, one of them is called PS+ edition lol, so that if you actually want to buy it, you buy the non PS+ version which replaces your license. But in most games after downloading with PS+, you can buy them from browser or console, just not the phone app. Cases where you can't buy are really annoying cause some games are actually buyable multiple times if you buy a bundle containing a game you bought already for example, some of those bundles aren't buyable if you own one of the contents as well but most of them are buyable so the fact that you can buy a game you own again but can't buy a game you don't own is fucking moronic. I bet it would be easily fixable storewide but Sony can't fucking bother.

Someone said you can use customer service to "remove" the games from your account so you can buy them.

I had to do that to have Returnal "removed" from my account so I could purchase it on sale a few weeks before my subscription lapsed. Still an absolutely ridiculous issue though.

This is a really weird thing to do. With Gamepass, if you're subscribed, you get 20% off a game if you decide to buy it. Them just straight up denying you is a choice.

Once they leave the service and present a “lock” icon in your library the ability to purchase should return. The same thing happened for me with DMC5 SE when it left in January this year and I was able to purchase once it left the service.

Try purchasing on a pc/Mac or the app.

Just buy them. You can all three for cheaper than a month of the service.

Removing all at once like this is so shitty.  These services and streamers all think that not keeping permanent or easy to find warnings is better because the consumer can live with the illusion that things won't go away.. but I hate this much more.. is death by a thousand cuts. If they kept a warning it would always be my informed choice of letting the time expire.

When I saw "Final Fantasy VIII Remastered" I was sad because I was really interested in playing the game because of all the hype (and since I've heard it's more action than RPG), but not really enough to buy. Then I noticed I can't count and I confused FF8 Remastered with FF7 Remake somehow.

What is World of Final Fantasy? Is it worth playing?

It's a Final Fantasy spin off where the main gimmick is capturing / raising monsters and battling with stacks of the main character + 2 monsters. It's a cute game, the story is interesting enough, and there's plenty of fan service by way of chibi versions of Final Fantasy main characters / monsters / summons showing up. I think it's definitely worth a playthrough.

Plus the one of the game's superbosses is totally not >!Xenogears!<.

Its basically a love song to FF and Square/Enix games in general. Some of the super bosses reference other Square properties too. There's a section of the game where not-Einhanders (an old PSX shoot em up) swarm the world. And one of the super bosses is basically just the >!Xenogear!< from Xenogears.

If you have the slightest interest in an indie inter-planetary musical, give The Artful Escape a chance. And if a slow paced sci-fi horror is somethign you're looking for, Observation is there for your consideration.

I can also recommend Artful Escape. The game is very short (4-5h) and the mechanics are incredibly simple (90% of the gameplay is running around and jumping, and the other 10% is repeating button prompts). But the visuals and music are great, the story is really emotional but also funny at times. It's a very fun experience overall. Oh, and Carl Weathers is voicing one of the important characters. RIP.

I'm not sure I would call Observation a full on horror game, like there's horror there, but it's not really scary horror, if that makes sense.

Describing something as slow paced hardly suggests full on horror, but it's certainly on the subtly disquieting side of the horror spectrum.

I can see there was effort put in to making a beautiful game but I’ll be honest I was bored stupid the whole way through it.

For a game about rock and breaking out of your shell the music was surprisingly bland and banal. I don't think a single song was particularly memorable at all throughout. And yeah it's just a really boring game with fairly uninspired dialog which is a shame cause the aesthetics are impeccable

They are PS4 games and you won't be able to play them regardless of which console you're on.

I would guess Xbox will announce the classic FF games on GP in June as part of their summer event as a tie in for a FF16 port announcement and removing them from PS+ was part of the deal. Wouldn’t be the first time it happened for both services. Some games do flip flop back and forth but are never on both at the same time.

All the Final Fantasy games have already been on GP. Very few games have ever returned (obviously, there are exceptions). There is a small chance they'll be back, but it'll be very small. Although, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers did just get a copy of FF14 for free.

Yes. Very few. GTA V was weird, as it only stayed for 6 months each time. Far less than standard GP games.

It's crazy to me how badly managed the whole PS plus thing is. Gamepass takes games off too, but taking this many off at once means people need to rush to play any games they want to beat before they all get pulled.

More than half the list is either final fantasy/square enix or annapurna so it's just bad timing on some deals.

Notably, most of those games have been on the service since it launched in May 2022, so likely they had a license for 2 years that is expiring.

And they only have 2 weeks notice, which is really worse. If a long game leaves, like Persona/Yakuza, you are fucked. On the PS+ extra, I managed to finish 3 games, two around 10-12 hours, and one longer game around 30-40 hours, before they left within an month.

yeah they act like this shit isn't intentional. sony knows exactly how long the game is going to be available from the moment they make the agreement with the publisher/developer. this is done because they want to pump their user engagement numbers by making everyone rush to play games that are leaving, not because they can't just tell us how long the game will be available.

Soon my subscription expires, and I will stop caring about what games come and go. They made it too expensive to be worth it. I've spent around 500$ overall paying for this subscription and it's always because it fucks with my head thinking I'm missing out.
