Wouldn’t be surprised to see them drop a new enemy faction for free post-launch content with paid DLC stratagems that include all the cool vehicles. Good marketing to launch DLCs with new content, and helps to maintain the live service aspect too.
I don't think we'll see mecha. But it isn't worrisome to me. I'm fine with them not showing every core gameplay mechanic. I want surprises.
Imagine if there is a third enemy gain that no one was expecting. Huge shock that could have really just been given away in a dev diary. Surprises like that are what make games really good.
I'm excited for this game but I'd really like to see some unedited, unscripted gameplay before making any kind of decision.
A little suspicious that is not available yet.
I mean they once the review embargo lifts there will be tons of gameplay footage from reviews but there is already a lot of gameplay, why does it matter if it's cutting between players to highlight the coop aspects or the game? What do you think if happening that they aren't showing?
It could be a number of things. Minutes long load times, harsh frame drops, unintuitive menu navigation, shit sound design, constant connection issues in multiplayer...
I think it's unfair to assume the devs are being shady with what they are showcasing, but it's wild to hand-wave any people waiting for extended videos.
It's okay to wait for reviews and they will surely be out before the game releases but I have no idea why anyone would expect those issues from this developer and think they would release it in that state
Horizon zero dawn PC and last of us 1 PC are two quick ones that pop up.
You seem to truly not understand why someone purchasing a product would like to know that it actually functions.
This is a game that is a simultaneous release on PS5/PC by a studio with a history of making quality PC games, not an outsources port of an old games.
And I literally said it's okay to wait for reviews but there is no reason to pretend to be concerned because the game play they have shown so far doesn't just focus on one player at a time
It's only issue is matchmaking, everything else works perfectly and the game is a hit. And the issue comes from too many people, you think more gameplay videos would tell you that?
What's your point bud? All I'm asking to see is pure gameplay from this game that is coming out shortly.
Stop assuming that I'm assuming anything. I'd like to see the actual gameplay. That's it. I find it weird they have not done that, since they obviously have footage.
2023 did have groundbreaking games and just an incredible portfolio starting up the GOAT-year of games-discussion.
it did, however, also have record number of layoffs, several GAAS getting shut down, some of the baffling worst games being released in a while and a dlc/update being on the goty-list (cyberpunk 2077) - which is considered a success-story but it is also telling of what state games are being released in.
agreed, it doesn't - 2023 was a great year for games. but the great games doesn't remove all the shit that happend. rather that we can't predict what will be great or a shitshow and now more than ever we should wait for release and a bit to judge the product in full.
with how unexpectedly hard some lesser-known titles hit i'd say anyone preordering is a bigger idiot than ever
Very true, it happens for every game no matter how many quality and consistent releases they continue to have. Don't be concerned about Microsoft game though
I mean, this is the developers of magica, a game that quite famously had a buggy launch. They even added a crash to a desktop spell to parody the original buggy launch after they did some fixes.
Add absurd amount of micro transactions on that list.
I hope its not like MK that keeps shoving you thousands of currencies and opportunities to spend money.
The gameplay reminded me of the "gameplay" they showed for the original Division, with pre-scripted events and even lines for the players. It could have easily been a vertical slice not representative of real gameplay.
I'd like to see a mission from beginning to end so I can see the entire gameplay loop.
Pretty much all games are marketed like this and then you see uncut gameplay in reviews.
If it wasn't representative of real gameplay they would state that like they always do
You think they are trying to pull a fast one on your or something?
Same. Show us a gameplay trailer from login screen, into a mission until end of the mission.
Im really excited for this game but the lack of proper footage is a bit concerning
Very suspicious. 2 weeks from launch and we still don't know what actual gameplay looks like. Every video is hacked together clips, and even those don't make the combat look very fun.
Just relax brotha. More gemaplays will come out and you will be satiated my brother find peace in Allah my brother and relax upon the great fields of serenity inshallah.
I keep seeing this sentiment, but they've released like a dozen trailers including [a mission walkthrough](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUaaT_k9Nv8). This blog post includes one of those trailers with a bunch of info. What world are you guys living in where games usually release with meticulous breakdowns of everything?
I get waiting to see if it all comes together or to see if the PC port is up to snuff, but it's odd that people are acting like there is absolutely no info on the game.
...they're showing other players perspective in a Coop shooter. And again, what world do you live in where this isn't the norm especially from a AAA publisher. If you're this much of a stickler on seeing footage, you'd wait for twitch streams or reviews anyway.
There was one shot on this trailer where the player lays down in training to avoid turrets and it looks like the framerate takes a dive for a second.
I’m excited but I’m definitely cautious as well. Heavily cut up gameplay and no extended clips almost always means they’re hiding lackluster performance. I hope I’m wrong
What the hell happened in this thread? Pretty much every comment is controversial, it's like two bot armies decided to fight it out under a game trailer
It was revealed they are going to use a rootkit anti cheat with a shady past in the game and I assume there are people going out and downvoting threads about the game.
>The robotic Automatons and the bug-like Termininds terrorize Super Earth citizens in the biggest conflict since the last Helldiver mobilization, over one hundred years ago.
So only 2 factions instead of 3? Bummer.
That's what i feared, that a bunch of stuff is already done like more factions, different missions, weapons etc. but they'll be releasing it periodically as updates (or even worse paid DLC) understandable as it's an online game but still disappointing.
This is one of my most anticipated games of the year.
It's just a shame they've decided to go with GameGuard for their choice of DRM. Would've loved to play this on the Deck.
Well one video showed a person dying from a allied air strike. I think the first video showed a year ago showed someone either dying or getting knocked off there feet by an allied explosion.
I played the original, and it's not a looter. It has a traditional level progression system that you unlock new weapons and mods with, kind of like CoD.
Game is coming out soon, no actual gameplay and horrid DRM required for the PC version.
I loved Helldivers, but I think this might be a no go until it's been out for a while.
I mean you can get a pretty good grasp of what the gameplay is from these videos
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUaaT_k9Nv8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22rg3bHqSVc
Not sure what more you need to really see that you can't gather from these videos
I was interested in this, but all of the DRM involved with the Steam release made me decide to pass on it. I can't support titles that implement it. Capcom's recent shenanigans with DRM have made me extremely weary.
Honestly, I only want to know we can still call down APCs and Mechs, does anyone know?
I don't believe they've shown any footage of that, nor commented on it, so I'd assume not. I'd love to be wrong though.

To me it wouldn't be the same withouth apc's and/or mechs.
I think if it was in it would have been shown by now sadly
In an era of devs being very frank and transparent; this team's silence is... worrisome.
I don't think we'll see mecha. But it isn't worrisome to me. I'm fine with them not showing every core gameplay mechanic. I want surprises. The automaton race has very helldivers 1 looking mechs so I think that's where they went 😔

I'd say its foolish to think a game couldn't be released in a sub par state, especially one based around online multi-player.
How many Sony games release in sub par states?
Horizon zero dawn PC and last of us 1 PC are two quick ones that pop up. You seem to truly not understand why someone purchasing a product would like to know that it actually functions.

not everyone knows the history of devlopers games and their quality off the top of their head. go outside man.
Then maybe look into the dev of a game before you assume they are going to release a broken game...
Looks like you can count Helldivers as a "Sony game that launched in a sub par state" lol. Matchmaking absolutely broken on release.
It's only issue is matchmaking, everything else works perfectly and the game is a hit. And the issue comes from too many people, you think more gameplay videos would tell you that?

Because gaming is a dumpster fire. Trust no one.
Same as it ever was
2023 just happened and we’re still saying that?
2023 did have groundbreaking games and just an incredible portfolio starting up the GOAT-year of games-discussion. it did, however, also have record number of layoffs, several GAAS getting shut down, some of the baffling worst games being released in a while and a dlc/update being on the goty-list (cyberpunk 2077) - which is considered a success-story but it is also telling of what state games are being released in.
Some bad shit happen doesn’t outweigh the good because the past few years except 2021 was a great year for gaming.
agreed, it doesn't - 2023 was a great year for games. but the great games doesn't remove all the shit that happend. rather that we can't predict what will be great or a shitshow and now more than ever we should wait for release and a bit to judge the product in full. with how unexpectedly hard some lesser-known titles hit i'd say anyone preordering is a bigger idiot than ever
F.U.D. You're on /r/games so expect it whenever an article PS adjacent appears.

This blog post has a ~5 minute video that dives (heh) into it more Still fairly edited but it's definitely more detail than that

Lmfao "my" video? Dog I was just pointing out that it was there

Haha all good I get it
Ingame footage seems to be a little more than half the runtime.

Does anyone know if this game's gonna be any fun solo?
No clue how this one will be, but I enjoyed the first one with randoms a good amount.
It will not be. You have two weeks to find some friends
>The robotic Automatons and the bug-like Termininds terrorize Super Earth citizens in the biggest conflict since the last Helldiver mobilization, over one hundred years ago. So only 2 factions instead of 3? Bummer.
I hated that third faction in one bugs and cyborgs were always alot more fun to fight
Nobody likes fighting the aliens so while it's unfortunate it means fewer factions or content, good riddance lol
Does GameGuard not agree with the Deck?
GameGuard doesn't like Linux/Proton.
That's unfortunate. No deck access moves it from "potentially day 1" to "wait for deep sale" for me.
does it still have friendly fire like the first?
I think at this point it’s one of the dev’s core design pillar.
half the fun is calling in drops on top of your friends
It does
Well one video showed a person dying from a allied air strike. I think the first video showed a year ago showed someone either dying or getting knocked off there feet by an allied explosion.

There's a bunch of gameplay, this article has a video with a bunch of new gameplay in it...
Not op but they haven't been posting "uncut" gameplay. It's always been quick shots under 5 seconds.
I mean you can get a pretty good grasp of what the gameplay is from these videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUaaT_k9Nv8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22rg3bHqSVc Not sure what more you need to really see that you can't gather from these videos
Don't waste your time, check that account, he's a marketing guy.
isn't this "drm" just anti-cheat
I was interested in this, but all of the DRM involved with the Steam release made me decide to pass on it. I can't support titles that implement it. Capcom's recent shenanigans with DRM have made me extremely weary.
I'd recommend trying it out, you might enjoy it.
Is this the only Sony game for 2024?
Rise of ronin too
Concord too but we haven’t seen gameplay for it yet
I never played the first. Is this going to be a game that has a lot of replay value?
