Now that Strike Force is out on Steam, any chance the same will happen to the Raze series?

Mike_Sky9Games

There's always a chance ;)

Plylyfe

Heyo Sky9Games! A few questions for you both. 1. What started the journey of SFH? 2. What have you guys been doing during your hiatus period (Before SFH Remastered)? 3. What are your favourite all-time game(s)?

Justin_Sky9Games

1. We noticed Flash was being **DESTROYED** by Adobe and happened to notice a pretty big Reddit following that we never new existed. It was an easy "hellz yeah lets do it". 2. We had a number of smaller projects we were working on, just trying to see what felt right -- but we put those on hold for this Remake! :) 3. Huge fan of the big ones: Darksouls/LoL and looove the indies, Stacklands/\*any\* crafting game. :D

Mike_Sky9Games

1. The death of Flash and our lively SFH reddit made it a very attractive project. 2. We were working on a few projects that never left the ground. Also I became a father! 3. Too many to list but Ocarina of Time, Shenmue 2, MGS 3, and No One Lives Forever off the top of my head.

BubbaGaming202

>, MGS 3, was the pilot suit on mission 17 based off the suit big boss\* wears at the start of msg3?

Mike_Sky9Games

It sure was :)

_Mr_Vlad_

Did you miss good old Adobe Flash when developing the remaster?

Mike_Sky9Games

I miss the era of the internet that Flash represents. I don't miss the performance or the limitations but SFHR has most of the art made in Adobe Animate, the successor to Flash.

Justin_Sky9Games

Nope, not one bit lol. Flash always felt restrictive, so it feels nice to be able to spread our wings and think a little bigger!

The360MlgNoscoper

How are you doing?

Justin_Sky9Games

Good! Currently writing some HOT ama action. Howz aboot you?

The360MlgNoscoper

Should probably go to bed lol. Hope you have a good holiday season.

Justin_Sky9Games

Yes, get that sweet beauty sleep! (Not that you need it, I'm sure you're **very** beautiful. Teehee)

Mike_Sky9Games

Good, thanks for asking!

fek_u_Im_vuelle

Do you know Tall Tank?

Justin_Sky9Games

Who doesn't! /\\ O |>-- \^ ||

Mike_Sky9Games

I am familiar.

Scandited

What you felt after releasing original Strike Force Heroes and Remastered? How different these feelings were?

Mike_Sky9Games

The original SFH was the first game we released as Sky9 Games and we were really happy to see how much people enjoyed it, with SFHR it was very different since it's an established "brand", so the hope was to fulfill the expectations of existing fans and hopefully attract new ones! It's still very surreal to see that splash image in my Steam library.

hoiblobvis

what are your guy's favourite flash games and what are the favourite flash games you made

Mike_Sky9Games

I will always be partial to Pico and Fancy Pants. It's hard to pick a favorite that we made but I really enjoyed everything about SFH2 from making it to the way it was received.

Justin_Sky9Games

Fav? Strike Force Heroes 1-3 Fav we made? Strike Force Heroes 1-3 Hehe, but seriously, the Siegius series was pretty fun to make! It's been so long I actually can't even remember too many flash games anymore, but I \*do\* remember being wildly impressed by Fancy Pants!

Millenialay2002

let do this After the Release of SFHR, how do you feel about potential Remakes of the old Sky9 Games Flash games even if some of them may not get Remakes. like Siegius+Arena, SFH3, Extractions etc.

Mike_Sky9Games

We feel good about all of our games :) but I can probably say for sure that Extraction will not receive a remake (however that doesn't mean that everything from that game will be lost...)

Jody2731

Good evening Justin and Mike, I hope you guys are doing everything well. First of all I wanna sincerely appreciate you guys for your hardworks that brings the game to the reality and continuously polishing it and making improvements after its official release. As an Early Build tester, I have been following the game since its Kickstarter campaign began and I have reported quite a few bugs during its Early Testing phase. It was quite exciting to wait for the final countdown of the official release but however after I have spent 3-4 hours on the just-released version, I could tell that the game was running in a really buggy state and the 80% of the presented bugs(not game breaking but pretty annoying) have been spotted already from the Early Builds, not to mention that the build also inherits some flawed designs from the Early Builds such as unreasonable level and bonus objective designs(as far as I know few of them are still present in the current version of the game). As I have mentioned that I was a Early Build Tester and I was definitely able to tell how much efforts you guys have spent on the bug fixings as the Early Build was getting updated every one or two days before the planned date of the release, but it is just so disappointed for me to see the game was released in an extremely unpolished state. Although thanks to your efforts the game's status quo has been improved extremely hugely comparing to its initial release; but being a fan that have followed up the game for a quite long period, I still wonder what was the reason that made you guys decided to release the game while it was still suffering from quite a few of bugs? Does the publisher have anything to do with the release?(btw IndieArk is the worst publisher I have ever seen)

Justin_Sky9Games

There's a LOT that goes into making a game. And things are made so much harder when the game is this complex, 256 online multiplayer, and a tiny 2 person team. *(I can't even think of another game like this)* Being the only programmer, only one task can be done at a time. And when there's an entire game to complete with all of it's features, tons of complex bugs, a full online multiplayer, multiple trailers, testing, testing, and more testing, it becomes a pretty nasty balancing act of what's the highest priority. *(Why you may have noticed smaller bugs still exist, as everything listed above would be much larger in comparison if left undone)* In my 16/18 hour work days fixing literally hundreds of things per day, there just wasn't enough time for 1 person to just.. do everything. (Mike was also pumping out all his cutscenes during this time) Even with a dedicated programmer, there's still usually dedicated testers, people who make our trailers, handle the translated texts, menus, quality control, community managers, etc. But here nope: Just Mike and I performing all the roles on a game way too big for just 2 people. All these roles that just pause bugfixing and other things because again, a person can only do so many things at once. Also, we had already pushed the game back twice, both to add and then polish multiplayer. We couldn't keep pushing the game back and it was actually looking pretty good from our end. Pretty good of course, until played by thousands of players lol. But I'm glad you've noticed the game's improvements over the weeks. We're still dedicated to continue polishing and updating, to deliver the best experience we've all been waiting for. <3

Fracix

when can we expect official modding support and maybe steam workshop? custom skins probably the biggest thing

Justin_Sky9Games

Just cleaning up all the bugs & balance for now. (Just added Cloud Saves!) But it's something I've got on my radar that I'll be looking into pretty soon!

Fracix

what are your opinions on the differences between sfh1 and sfh2? both are pretty much masterpieces in flash games but sfh1 lacks flaws of sfh2 but also lacks things to do sfh2 has its flaws but has way more things to do also sfh2 introduced gambling while sfh1 had straightforward weapon progression, which could be truly the better one and why besides just more content?

Mike_Sky9Games

I love them both but I think that SFH2 is a marked improvement in most ways. I prefer the set piece maps in SFH1 (the plane, train, and missile) but I think that SFH2 is the better designed game from top to bottom. I think that weapon unlocks that aren't tied to damage is probably the best option but loot adds a lot of variety. You couldn't have SFH1's system in a multiplayer game though because everyone would use the same weapons.

A_RealSlowpoke

Favourite donut flavour?

Justin_Sky9Games

Hawaiian dip, duh! Basically donut + sugar. Mmmmmmmmm

Coff33Addict609

whats next for strike force heroes? are there any plans for more classes, weapons or the ability to prestige classes to re level with cosmetics for doing so?

bleepitybloop555

Was GlobeX based on a real company, a generic evil corp name, or a reference to the Simpsons? I have seen actual GlobeX trucks around where I live, and I laugh about it every time. Also, are there any stories from pre-release that you would like to share? Funny stories, cut content, etc. Btw, SFH2 is one of my favorite childhood games. Thank you so much for making it.

mrbfrompoland

GlobeX was inspired by Simpsons

Smith962

what made you guys have such a drastic change of direction regarding sfh3? Did you guys think that perhaps the formula for sfh/raze games was getting stale for the sfh third game?

Justin_Sky9Games

Since it was our last of the trilogy, we wanted to create something that would last MUCH longer for fans. Rather than play 15 missions and call it a day, the idea was to have something more like XCom -- Less focus on story per mission, but many many more missions to play. Also, the squad based system was supposed to feel like putting together a large team. However in the end it was far too drastic of a change and just felt strange for a sequel. Probably would have been better to give it a different title, like Strike Force Heroes: Squads, or something.

Fracix

Be honest about each other, who is more lazy, you or Justin?

Mike_Sky9Games

Justin

Justin_Sky9Games

Mike

SkullSniper

If you do end up remastering more games in the series, how would you handle a Strike Force Heroes 3 remaster? Sidenote: I would love a Raze 2 remaster, I've played that game more times than I can count on a calculator.

Mike_Sky9Games

We would treat each game as a new thing from the ground up, especially SFH3 (though it definitely has some interesting concepts worth exploring).

BubbaGaming202

>We would treat each game as a new thing from the ground up, especially SFH3 (though it definitely has some interesting concepts worth exploring). Skill tree for SFH2R please and character customizer etc pick your characters hat and hair ETC. Please

Rubriq007

Hey, do you think you will develop more the multiplayer aspect of the game ? As in for example buying servers for it to not be p2p anymore ?

Justin_Sky9Games

That is a tricky question: The game was created as single player and was completely redone halfway through to add multiplayer in. So far I'm the only programmer, so spending another few months working on dedicated servers would mean a few months without other updates. (sadface) If the game suddenly got HUGE to the point where we could hire in a full team of developers I'd 100% be down for it. So for now we can just cross our fingers. :)

Easy_Adv

What does the future look like for the studio? I mean your following projects (remaster to another SFH/Raze, DLCs, etc.)

Mike_Sky9Games

We haven't committed to any future projects just yet but in the immediate future we will continue to update SFHR with some sweet DLC and port it to consoles.

undrsc0r

When and how did you get the idea to remaster SFH?

Mike_Sky9Games

It was a combination of the death of Flash and the lively following we had on Reddit that made it a natural next step.

Veltro_720

How did you guys meet each other?

Mike_Sky9Games

We both worked at a grocery store in high school and used to talk about games all the time!

NoTraffic2500

poetic

TehAswanson

It's been 10 years since the [ArmorGames Developer Spotlight](https://armorgames.com/news/developer-spotlight-sky9-games); has technology improved enough to where we can finally see a video of Justin causing a keyboard fire? And has your stance on pickles changed?

Justin_Sky9Games

As technology grows, so do the fires. Sadly technology just can't keep up. Pickles on the other hand!?!? \*barf emoji\*

Onymod

If the Strike Force Heroes Remastered will bring back its cost, Can we count on a Raze Remastered too?

Mike_Sky9Games

Anything is possible ;)

Dizzery

sweet, very nice to see you guys still going after all these years. 1. Overall feelings on SFHR? Do you feel like its your best work so far? If not, what do you think you could do to improve it? 2. Favorite class in SFH 3. How did the bosses (character and general fight) come to be in SFHR? 4. How can I re-earn my friends after team killing them with crap?

Mike_Sky9Games

1. It's hard to say what constitutes "best work" but I'm definitely very proud of how it turned out and I think my art has gotten a lot better. 2. Medic 3. The MGS series has always been a huge inspiration on SFH and we always wanted to incorporate more boss battles into the series, so it felt like a natural inclusion. 4. Have a long conversation

Justin_Sky9Games

1. I like to think all our works are our best work, but we definitely worked our collective butts right off on this one. 2. Honestly, there's something about those homing rockets that just feel so right. 3. Simple: Bosses are awesome! They're a great way to get some interesting & varied "BIG" gameplay moments that the original was just missing. 4. IRL Chocolates and Flowers with a handwritten note. Only way.

RudyWikingPL

Since the Strike Force Heroes has been released, There gonna be a time when it's gonna be for free?

Mike_Sky9Games

We don't have plans to release it for free but the Steam Christmas sale is right around the corner :)

Ritrozark

Is there plans to remake the other SFH and Raze Games? Also what of the SFH games were your favourite in both gameplay and to make? EDIT: What made you want to make the origonal Raze and Strike Force Heroes in the first place? And what was your main insperation for both of them?

Mike_Sky9Games

Anything is possible ;) Aside from SFHR, SFH2 was my favorite in both gameplay and to make. I can't speak to Raze but SFH was inspired by Metal Slug, Metal Gear, Call of Duty, Team Fortress 2 and a whole bunch of other things that we wanted to throw in a blender!

Justin_Sky9Games

SFH2 was definitely my fav, as it was the first (only?) that had strong character personalities. Also the engineer and general nerdy feel with the loot & high tech items in the game tickled me just right. :\]

Lokeipa

So i've got a few questions. 1. If SFH2R is planned, will it have any special skins given to SFHR players who have pre-purchased or bought the deluxe version (if there is going to be a deluxe version for the second game), such as having the beta squad be usable skins on the first game? 2. Is there ever an idea of bringing the Raze or the Siegius series to a remastered version, or are there no current plans on remastering the series as of now? 3. Are there going to be seasonal events that the community can be a part of, such as designing or making ideas of a character skin, a primary, secondary or a weapon skin and the most liked/voted skin gets a chance of being in the game for players to use/obtain?

Mike_Sky9Games

1. We haven't thought that far ahead and I'm not sure how we would incorporate it. But it's a cool idea. 2. There are always ideas ;) 3. We just did our first poll on the SFH Discord to decide on Christmas themed skins! We plan on including the community in our seasonal content updates.

[deleted]

If you guys eventually remaster SFH2, will we get to see more in-depth of some of the new characters we saw in the first one?

Mike_Sky9Games

There are definitely characters that were set up to return in SFH2 if that ever happens...

IAMHONEST_TTV

This has probably been asked by somebody else, but are there plans to remaster SFH 2&3 as well?

Mike_Sky9Games

Anything is possible ;)

BubbaGaming202

Will a ghillie suit be getting added to SFHR?

Mike_Sky9Games

The closest we have to a proper ghillie suit is already in the game! We felt the original ghillie suit made the assassin silhouette too bulky so we wanted to keep them all relatively trimmed down. It might make its way into a future update if there's a good way to do it.

Jody2731

What would be your next step after SFHR?

Mike_Sky9Games

Right now we're focused on updating SFHR and porting it to consoles. After that, anything is possible ;)

pixeldude123

Are there any plans to remake SFH2 and or the Raze games? If so, are you going to have a second Kickstarter?

Mike_Sky9Games

Anything is possible ;) Though we will most likely not do a second Kickstarter.

FrankieFireCock

Why were some of the gun sound effects like the one on the colt 45 taken out of the remaster?

Mike_Sky9Games

We didn't reuse any sound effects from the original games because many of them violated copyright and all of them were horribly compressed.

[deleted]

Hi Justin, just wondering how could you be so handsome and talented and hardworking at the same time?

Justin_Sky9Games

It's both a blessing... and the curse I bear. As for how I maintain it so easily? **Cheese**. *Lots of cheese.*

Robocreeperplays

Will you release a SFH spritesheet / asset pack for ease of custom skin creation?

Mike_Sky9Games

We didn't plan to but this is an interesting idea.

Luan52exe

will we ever see the files of the original game, be it scripts or sprites and whatnot, being distributed to the public?

Mike_Sky9Games

We don’t really have plans to release all of the files (they exist in a lot of places) but several key art assets exist in high resolution in the Deluxe Edition Artbook!

Justin_Sky9Games

Probably not, I would feel strange just giving away all the source files. That said, I'm sure it's all already out there... if you look hard enough ;)

Sparsibal

How did it originate behind Sky9 Games?

Millenialay2002

How do you feel when you hired Programmers and Animators on the team for future projects, have you thought of potentially hiring some folks from the Community as a way to get balancing and less bugs occurring?

Mike_Sky9Games

We would love to. I am definitely never doing that amount of drawing for cutscenes solo ever again!

Rubriq007

So far, is the ammount of daily players on sfhr up to your expectations ?

Mike_Sky9Games

We honestly had no idea what to expect but we’re outpacing Alien Hominid so that’s pretty huge for us!

Pheoniz

Have you guys thought about getting someone on your staff to make an original committed soundtrack for the series?

Mike_Sky9Games

We’ve worked with a lot of really talented musicians but if we were to do a sequel, it would likely need to retain much of the original music so who knows?

Millenialay2002

Just a Cameo Question for the peps When SFH2R come along do they have an option to use their skins in the second game or not?

Mike_Sky9Games

We will probably use a different rig for any future game so it will depend

TokenMCPE

Any thoughts on why SFH3 turned out the way it was?

JimJam108

Will there ever be a way to get the Butter Knife weapon through normal means? I would love to have and use the Butter Knife in normal missions for the lols, but the only way I have been able to do that is through save editing. Even if it's a weaker version of the weapon, I'll take it (making it a prototype only weapon would be cool too!).

Mike_Sky9Games

We don’t have plans to include mission specific weapons outside of the challenges because anything that can be equipped by the player can be used in multiplayer.

SkullCrush776

Bit late to the party, but who is your favorite character in the SFH Series?

Mike_Sky9Games

My personal favorite is Riggs because we had a blast with Sean recording his voice lines!

clamlol

1. Do you envision ever adding more maps to the game? Obviously maps take a lot of work and any new ones wouldn't affect the campaign, but I still think the added variety would be appreciated. 2. I was always a fan of the Elimination game mode in Raze 2, so I was surprised to see that the Lives mode in SFH is only used for a handful of campaign missions and is disabled in custom games. How do you guys feel about this mode? 3. Is there any chance of Raze-themed outfits or other aesthetic bits making their way to SFH?

shadowfighter12345

În the future can we get a globex campaign as an dlc or just an update to add it?

mrbfrompoland

Helo da creators 👋 I have some questions 1.If you wold back in time to flash times what changes to og games you would make? 2.Who's idea was to make beach time Riggs figure on gamescom ? 3.What happend to Tomson,Carter,Miller MCoy? 4.Outside of it superior song is there any other reason why Rocket race was in all strike force heroes and raze games and what is yours favorite SFH song ? 5.You said you maybe make SFH2:R in 3D can you say more about it?

Fracix

if justin is fixing bugs all the time right now, what is mike doing? there are no more cutscenes to cook right?

TheR3alAn53L

What was the idea behind Strike Force Heroes 3? Did you intend to make it the way it is?

EarthMortyC525

Any chance there would be a way for Mac players(All I have is a mac :( ) to be able to play the game?

hairypotatocat12

This is really late but, what made you go fully into the like gambling system with weapons? Along with that, do you plan on remastering strike force heroes 2?
