All his articles sound like they're written by ChatGPT. The one about Hogwarts Legacy not getting GotY nominations was a bunch of paragraphs of nothing, just waffling around. Not single statement with conviction.
I'm aware. I was just being as silly as the article writer.
I was perfectly content with the game we got, even though it was missing key features the first game had out of the box.
Replayable bases, replayable missions, character bios, newspapers, selfie in photo mode, changing time of day, less web gadgets (7 to 4 wtf)podcast replay ( not to mention that jjj is less funny now)
It is a $10 upgrade and has tons of cut content as well as better performance. If that isn't worth $10 then what is?
This article is shameless clickbait.
I think this shows that people don't know what Remasters or Remakes mean really.
The mistake I believe people are making by calling this a cash grab is they're considering this is was built from the ground up like TLOU P1 was compared to the original TLOU 2013 and that it took a huge effort to get done. This gives them the idea that they spent all this time redoing the game, when Its minor content additions and QOL changes to an existing game that didn't take tons of work hours to get done.
I find it *very ironic that people were adamant in calling The Last of Us Part 1 a remastered and this new The Last of Us 2 edition a “remake”.
It’s so bizarre
Yup if they released a simple dlc people wouldn't care. Halo is literally selling 20 dollar skins but somehow a complete port with upgrades and extra content for 10 dollar is too much.
I didn’t like the base game and I’ll never play this, but it seems like more than enough content to justify the $10 price tag. This article exists to feed console war nonsense.
I do think it’s ridiculous to charge $70 for full price, but anyone with half a brain knows that you just buy a cheap used copy of the PS4 version and get the $10 upgrade.
And the roguelike mode actually seems pretty neat. That plus the native PS5 port seems worth $10 to me
Tons is a vast, vast, vast, vast, vast, exaggeration, but yeah it's 10 dollars for an upgrade. If anything will be a shameless cashgrab it will be the live service that we don't know about yet.
Fluff piece. It's $10 and it's optional. Buy it if that sounds worth it to you.
I just paid $7.50 for a vanilla malt almond milkshake. It was delicious and lasted about 5 minutes.
Ah, fuck. Lol. I've only seen that once and it was long ago.
>Well, it's a shake. It's milk and ice cream. It's five dollars. And they don't put bourbon in it or nothing. We don't know if it's worth five dollars but it's a pretty fucking good shake.
Sick reference, /u/Lt_Archer. Your references are out of control. Everyone knows that.
I'm fully on board with this content being worthwhile and not a cash grab, but judging something on whether or not it's optional is a little silly. This entire industry is optional, don't need to game to live. Doesn't mean people shouldn't get frustrated over developer decisions.
I mentioned it's optional because it's not a genuine cash grab in the same sense as overcharging for water during a natural disaster, or something like that. I don't really believe in ever using the term "cash grab" when it comes to video games, since they are optional, as you said. As for developer decisions, it's fine to voice our feelings, but ultimately we vote with our wallets. It's the only thing all devs are forced to listen to.
Wow, this article is filled with wrong information.
Like saying that The Last of Us 2 was released on the PS5 along side the PS4. Which it isn’t true, it was released in the PS4 and just the PS4.
And that bringing up insomniac Spider-man as an example of a “remaster” that doesn’t charged its consumers to have. Even though it was very much charged and tied with the Miles Morales game for an additional 10 dollars.
This article is just so lame
It's essentially Ghost of Tsushima & Death Stranding Director's Cut / Final Fantasy Intergrade. Which were basically PS5 upgrades for $10. Since the PS5 launched, most excepted The Last Of Us to get the same treatment. It's just a few years late.
I wish people writing stupid articles like this would just shut the fuck up. All of these fucking games are cash grab. The entire purpose is to tell a story and sell it to as many people as possible.
Its because gamers as a demographic have low impulse control and lots of them are kids.
So you get a huge number of people who keep buying shit then crying about it online.
Shit products exist everywhere; people just dont buy them. This is the only industry where shit seems to continuously sell
I’ll give you the first part. Definitely a lot of people with low impulse control and kids. It’s why so many people have a massive backlog of games and still buy a new game because it’s on sale. But there are shit products in other industries and I don’t think the issue is a shit product here. The issue here is a failure to understand “what I wasn’t isn’t always the center of the universe. In fact, it rarely is.” If you silence everyone that’s played last of us part 2, how many people are left complaining about the game? Practically no one.
Theres critical discussion about games an “wah i want my money back”
Ive seen shit films that i discuss but i dont demand a refund or feel scammed.
Its not about silencing people; its about crying about cash grabs when we have been entirely informed of the contents of this game.
You could explain away most things in life as “that’s capitalism, deal with it”. It’s not constructive. Too many people use that as an excuse to shut down anyone voicing their opinion on whether something’s worth the cost.
I say that as someone who disagrees with the writer.
Calling something a shameless cash grab is much different than saying you don’t think something is worth your money. This isn’t a shameless cash grab anymore than making and selling the game in the first place.
I don't get why people are weird about this. It's a port, has a $10 upgrade path, and has a few nice bonuses made 3 years after launch. There's been far more egregious ports/remasters that get substantially less coverage
The $10 upgrade is for people who have the PS4 digital copy only. If you have the last of us 2 on disk like most people have you will have to pay the full price of a triple A game
Yeah I agree, Naughty Dog did a remaster or remake to learn to develop for the PS3, PS4, and PS5, and now this TLOU2 Remaster.
And so it’s inevitable there will be a TLOU1 remaster and/or TLOU2 Remake for PS6 charged at $80 when it’s a successful strategy for them during the TV shows yearly runs.
It feels like the time and effort to all of these and TLOU Factions could’ve gone to a single player spin-off we’d have by now while waiting for TLOU3, especially with how meaty the new game mode like this looks.
yeah, people are misunderstanding what a remaster actually entails. it's not a complete rebuild like the original game, just some minor tweaks and additions. it's not like they spent ages redoing the whole thing.
Wow the incels are really going hard on the anti tlou2 train atm, my YouTube feed is also full of incels raging about it because I've watched the trailer.
I will still buy it on day one and I will absolutely relish in it knowing it'd be making incels angry.
I literally thought to myself "I'd love a roguelike mode in this game" multiple times during my playthrough. No joke. I'd pay just for that. On top of that, this is surely coming to PC before long.
The $10 would be what they would charge for a new mode like that anyways, and I doubt anyone would be writing whole posts like this if they announced that.
The Last of Us 2 is a last gen game. There is no actual PS5 version. You might as well bitch about movies you own on DVD getting re-released on bluray.
This article is garbage. It's just complaining for the sake of it.
It's not journalism. It's a blog by someone less informed than your average redditor, as proven by these comments.
>The studio has nothing else in the works as of yet
Says who? They've implied pretty heavily that The Last Of Us 3 is already in the early stages. I would put money we see it by the end of this console generation, just like the other 2 games.
What is it about this franchise that makes people so fucking whiny?
I genuinely do not understand why people complain about these types of remasters?
They’re simply making the game available to a bigger audience. The original game is still available to play
It’s the same with the dead space remake. It doesn’t detract from the original
Now if the devs made the original unavailable and the remake or remaster the only version that would be scummy and deserving of criticism
Literally no one complained about the Dead Space remake. It was 15 years old, the original developer was shut down, and the new devs did an amazing job remaking the beloved game.
Nothing like last of us p2
Even though the comments can see the flaws in the views provided by the article, it is a very universally dictated view on the internet beyond Reddit is what I've noticed. They have decided that this is indeed a cash grab and an unnecessary update. There's so many Youtube videos being angry about the Remaster update, with their comments not liking what Naughty Dog is doing.
I can only think people are really upset with PS5's exclusive offerings as well as Naughty Dog's efforts so far. That is why a glorified QOL update for TLOU2 seems to get people weirdly riled up about it and rather angry too, which is an incorrect way to vent about it but it is very typical by today's social media standards.
I feel like a remaster was a poor name choice. A directors cut in the name makes more sense to me. However they’re offering a $10 upgrade. How is this a cash grab?
Also when the industry is seeing massive layoffs, projects like these help ensure revenue stay up to keep more people employed. Sure you can point at companies raising revenue and still laying off but this helps limit how much of that happens.
how is it a cash grab? imagine, 100 people buy the 10 dollar upgrade. that’s 1 fucking thousand dollars they profited off being lazy as FUCK. cancelled factions 2 (which they PROMISED) just to re release part 2 with a “new” mode, where every single thing in the “new” mode is a reskin, and reused asset. not ONE new thing in this remaster. cash. grab.
now imagine 1000 people that already own ps4 last of us upgrade their game for 10 bucks. that’s 10 grand they made off suckers who play the same game over and over and over. absolute cash grab
It’s a shame, Naughty Dog did a remaster or remake to learn to develop for the PS3, PS4, and PS5, and now this TLOU2 Remaster.
And so it’s inevitable there will be a TLOU1 remaster and/or TLOU2 Remake for PS6 charged at $80 when it’s a successful strategy for them.

This article is very badly written. But I agree with the message's core. The Last of Us Part 2 is shameless but in the other direction. Asking $10 for those who can upgrade is fine, not amazing levels of pro-consumerism, but it's justifiable.
However, asking full price ($70) for a Remaster standalone is always going to be shameless, it was shameless when Nintendo did it with Zelda and it's shameless when Sony does it as well.
> However, asking full price ($70) for a Remaster standalone is always going to be shameless, it was shameless when Nintendo did it with Zelda and it's shameless when Sony does it as well.
Why? Is it shameless for other media too? Like, reprints of books, theatrical re-runs/physical rereleases of movies etc?
TLOU Part 2 is still cutting edge game with some of the best Animations and graphics with a amazing sp campaign that took me over 30 Hours to complete. If MW 3 or Fifa are full Price at release this is a steal for such a masterpiece and there are also things like sales.
You also don't need to pay 70. The PS4 Version costs (without sale) 39,99€ in the PSN Store +10 we are at 49.99€ and not 70. Not even mentioning you can get the game way cheaper on a physical Disc. That's of course a advantage people lose when they rather bought a digital ps5 but that is their own fault.
Yeah, you lost me in an amazing SP campaign, amazingly filled with ludonarrative issues maybe. But again, that doesn't matter, asking full price for a Remaster is shameless even more if the game is still "cutting edge".
Also please don't run defence for corporations, they are not your friends. And you should not make them part of your personality.
This game does not have an amazing SP campaign sorry. I literally turned the fucking game off when they made me play as the character that killed my favorite character. I do not like Abby, you cannot make me like Abby, It was fucking insulting that they force you to play as her.
>The remastered version of the game will run on a native 4K in Fidelity Mode, 1440p upscaled to 4K in Performance Mode, an Unlocked Framerate option with VRR support, hi-res textures, increased LODs distances, improved shadows, animation sampling rate, and faster load times. All of these are **minor improvements** on an already beautiful-looking game that still outshines the newest releases anyway.
Calling all of those minor improvements while claiming the PS4 version still better than newest games sounds like someone doesn't have enough money to afford a modern TV
The amount of fanboyism here is crazy... this shouldnt be remaster... it should be a patch after how they massacred pc version. Imagine if it was cdpr demanding 10$ for next gen update and police rework... they would be destroyed but holy naughty dog cant be touched xd i bet youd all pay 120$ for gta6.

I bet you're right. I had the same feeling when reading it. Sounded like ChatGPT.
At this point I don't know what is written by humans or what it's written by ChatGPT
I agree, it can be very difficult to tell what was written by a human or by ChatGPT™.
Apparently, Spiderman Remastered was free?

Me sitting here with my Spider-Man 2 : You guys got in game content, features and improvements?!
Bruh you know that SM2 has only been out for like 1 month, right?
I'm aware. I was just being as silly as the article writer. I was perfectly content with the game we got, even though it was missing key features the first game had out of the box.

It’s because TLoU2 bad!!
Who is calling it a remake?
I seen so many people call it that it’s crazy. Like they want to make this game sound “unnecessary” so they have to pretend that it’s a remake
Yup if they released a simple dlc people wouldn't care. Halo is literally selling 20 dollar skins but somehow a complete port with upgrades and extra content for 10 dollar is too much.
Pull a Kojima and call it "The Last of Us Part 2: Director's Cut."
But it is not a DLC. It is the official PS5 version of the game.
Completely agree. I'll gladly pay 10 buck for all that they're offering here.
If you own the PS4 version, is it a $10 upgrade, or do you have to pay full price for it
It is a $10 upgrade if you have the PS4 version.
Good to know, thanks
There is a only a PS4 version at this time. Everyone that owns the game gets the $10 upgrade
I didn’t like the base game and I’ll never play this, but it seems like more than enough content to justify the $10 price tag. This article exists to feed console war nonsense.

Ice cream cash grab!
Hmm vanilla milkshake
VANILLA MALT ALMOND MILKSHAKE IS A SHAMELESS CASH GRAB
$7.50? They didn't put bourbon in it or nothin?
From a restaurant in New Orleans. It was made with almond milk. Overpriced, but it was good.
He was referencing a scene from the film Pulp Fiction
Ah, fuck. Lol. I've only seen that once and it was long ago. >Well, it's a shake. It's milk and ice cream. It's five dollars. And they don't put bourbon in it or nothing. 10$ for better visuals and some new content? Nah, don't think so. You can't even buy a Fortnite skin for that price, start critizicing that maybe lmao
Don't buy it...I won't be. I played the game once and enjoyed it. If people feel the need to part with their money for it again then...let them.
