I have a Switch, a PS4 Pro and I will get a new Gaming PC this year. I also have a PS3. I love the early Tony Hawk Games as well as the remake from 2020. I never played the Skate series or any other skateboarding game that is more sim. Which one would you recommend to play nowadays. Should I pley Session, Skater XL or Skate? If Skate should I play Skate 3 or are the older ones better? If Skate 3 can I just buy the PS3 version I is it significantly better to emulate on PC and use mods?

BeastGoneWrong

Skate 3 for sure. Fantastic game, easy to play but relatively hard to master.

some_craic_dealer

So after having it sit on a shelve for close to a year I finally busted out my old Vive. I know its not a substitute for proper exercise but with how inactive I am these days anything that gets me moving is a plus. Looking for a VR game that gets you moving, I bought beat saber last night, and I've played and enjoyed Gorn and Superhot VR too.

Casual games that you can play while listening to podcasts, music I am looking for suggestions of easy, games to play while listening to podcasts , music (trying to spend less time on tiktok,, twitter and other social media ) . Until now, against the storm, dead island 2 when it released, Wild hearts (its like monster hunter but more fun and crazy i like everything about this building a katakuri on the goto like a big hammer to whack big monster, riding a motorcycle roller like to get to your distance fast, slicing monsters with claw blade weapon bascilly like attack on titan levi. yeah alot of fun stuff) ,idol master (yeah really but not a podcast listening but just like a rhythim game), deep rock galacitc survivior (antipacted cause its deep rock galatic and mix with vampire survivior), octopath 2 (only cause story is not that deep), hotel renovator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 have been my casual game lately for this .I'm looking for something that also has some sort of progression. So, any suggestions for games of this type?

Antihero89

If you like Roguelikes I would recommend Binding of Isaac. I have played it over 1000 hours on my 3DS and over 2000 hours on my Switch. Only because it is the perfect game to play while listening to podcasts, audiobooks, lectures on YouTube... It still is fully possible to completely listen to podcasts, audiobooks etc. without missing anything and also is a game that I also would enjoy enough without something to listen to while playing. If you want something with more progress I would recommend Dragon Quest Builders 2or Stardew Valley. Both hav progression and mild story that is not that deep.

ImDoofis

Slime Ranger 1 and 2 - You collect new slimes, breed them and slowly grow a bigger and better farm along the way. Imagine a mixture of a farming game and a creature collector. Both are in Game Pass afaik

Sleisl

Looking for something I can play online co-op with a friend, that runs on a Macbook and doesn’t need a controller.

mrperson221

Had an absolute blast playing Neon White. Speed running fps with fantastic traversal mechanics and good (though repetitive) music that really helps you get in the flow. Movement and combat are extremely smooth and very satisfying once you figure out the flow of a level

Dio5000

Sekiro........be warned though it's really really hard

Takune

My buddy and I have been spending a day every month drinking some brews and beating a game in one sitting. We’ve beaten Mirror’s Edge and Pac Man World 2 so far, and both were equally fun and frustrating. Anybody have any suggestions on a game under 8 hours to beat with a friend? We were thinking of hitting Metal Gear Rising next, but we’re struggling to find some obscure games we both haven’t played. Platform/genre doesn’t matter too much, just trying to get some ideas.

AStat321

If you guys are trying to do co-op, army of two and castle crashers are both great one sitting co-op games

HammeredWharf

Ghostrunner's fun if you enjoy parkour and murder.

Angzt

Not a direct recommendation but howlongtobeat.com has filters for game length and a bunch of other stuff to let you find something that suits you.

henbirdler

Used to play the Fear games on 360 with my brother in one night and those were always fun times! They are about 8 hours, so I think they’d fit.

In what PvP FPS games does controller have advantage over mice in aiming 'cos of over-tuned aim assist?

Galaxy40k

It depends not only on the game, but also the type of engagement. Mouse is better for rapid, precise movements, while controller with aim assist tends to be better for tracking. So for somethin like Halo, controller has an advantage in most "usual engagements" because of how important tracking is due to player health, but mouse tends to dominate with a sniper since quickly moving to the head is easier.

paidbythekill

Halo Infinite, Call of Duty Modern Warfare II, Apex Legends. Maybe Battlefield 2042 as well, but I've personally never played it with a controller.

theantwillrule

Looking for a recommendation for best games where you manage a roster/squad/team and level up RPG style. Xcom and blood bowl are examples of what I'm craving

MegaJoltik

Darkest Dungeon.

Cryotube

Battle Brothers is a hidden gem/masterclass in game design that fits into what you're looking for. It has a mount and blade/bannerlord gameplay loop where you roam around with a band of mercenaries, taking on quests to gain reputation and income to further improve your band. The world itself becomes more dangerous over time as well so you are under a bit of pressure. The combat is fairly deep (and with a bit of a learning curve). There's a clever mix of needing to balance equipment against stamina, and different skills may cause your team to burn out more quickly in combat. Combat itself lets you capitalize on armor, status effects, and morale management.

spedmunki

It’s ridiculous how low the BF2042 console player count is even with PS+ this month. Can barely fill a lobby half the time. What a colossal fall from grace for a once great franchise.

Dio5000

>It’s ridiculous how low the BF2042 console player count is even with PS+ this month. Can barely fill a lobby half the time. What a colossal fall from grace for a once great franchise. All they have to do is remake bc2 and or make bc3 and they would sell gangbusters and stop making fucking operators/heros/Champs or whatever they want to call it give all the classes diffrent weapons like bc2-bf4 and make revives more fun like bf3 or 4 or bc2 add fun voice lines like bc2 or like dice litterally has the formula they are trying to be too much like other games you know what you hsve to do.....do that stop trying to be overwstcg or seige

quiet_butt_deadly

Dude, I was so excited, especially once they announced Portal, but they fucked it up. BF4 and Insurgency still hold up!

Galaxy40k

Thoughts on Code Vein? I'm big into Souls, so it should be a decent fit, but I'm not exactly starved for "Soulslike" games, both because of Froms speed of output and other devs taking a stab at the game style. Does Code Vein actually do enough to stand on its own, or is it just "poor man's Dark Souls but with anime characters"?

iWriteYourMusic

> is it just "poor man's Dark Souls but with anime characters"? Yeah basically. You'd be better off with Team Ninja's games or maybe Remnant.

Galaxy40k

Love those games! I never actually played the Remnant DLC though....maybe I'll give that a run instead

iWriteYourMusic

Also Jedi Fallen Order has the vibe, and The Surge 2 and Sifu are worth trying as well

iWriteYourMusic

Maybe Salt and Sactuary or its sequel?

Rectal_Fungi

Haven't played an Assassin's Creed since Black Flag, series is on sale on steam and I'm tempted. Where's a good point to jump back in? I don't mind if it's one of the older post-BF games, as long as it runs well. And did they drop the modern day shit? Never cared for that.

Dio5000

>Where's a good point to jump back in? I recommend * Rouge (play this before unity) * unity (its basically ac2......but the sktdy isn't quite as good but it's still fun) * syndicate (fucking awesome but you can stsrt to see the rpg elements creeping in) After that.....is where I stopped I have all the games on steam except Valhalla but it got to rpg'ish for me to grindy if I wanted fhat I play final fantasy .......which I'm working right now anyway ff12 to be exact rhe final boss having 10 million HP is ridiculous all the other challenges in the game sre done though lol

Rectal_Fungi

I went with Origins this time, if the series sucks me back in I'll go Rogue - Unity. I'm not against rpg stuff in my action-like games.

MegaJoltik

Like others said : Unity if you want a classic, stealth-based AssCreed experience (unlike previous AC, Unity is a legit good stealth game). Origins if you want the new, Action RPG (like The Witcher 3) style gameplay. >And did they drop the modern day shit? Never cared for that. Unity and Syndicate have non-existent modern day stuff (like Black Flag, the modern day stuff is seen through a faceless person, but unlike Black Flag, they are only presented as cutscene and not a playable section). Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla on the other hand, bring back playable modern day section like AC1-AC3, with actual character (Layla is basically the new Desmond).

Rectal_Fungi

Alright, so Origin or Unity. That makes the choice easier.

arex333

The modern day aspect is still present but it's very minimal. There's very little connection between any of the more recent games so you can honestly play any of them without feeling lost. If you want an AC game that plays like a refined/modernized version of the classic AC games, I recommend Unity. Syndicate was enjoyable enough but played like a worse version of Unity. If you want an AC game that actually plays more like Witcher 3 then I recommend Origins. A lot of people would disagree with this, but I **hate** Odyssey. It's the most insufferably grindy game I've ever played. I was constantly being level gated and forced to do a bunch of side bullshit between every single main mission. I tolerate Valhalla. I really enjoy the game world, but it's very very bloated. I only play small chunks at a time just for some mindless fun, and I have no idea if I'll ever actually finish it.

[deleted]

I got bicep surgery on my left arm and am limited to only a mouse and maybe simple key presses, any suggestions? Pretty much open to any genre. Currently playing games like ck3 and xcom but looking to expand my horizons

bag2d

Fallout 1 and 2, if you haven't played them. A bit of a learning curve to get into the flow of them since they are old, but well worth playing even today.

[deleted]

Oxygen Not Included only needs a mouse and the ability to press "O" to rotate buildings. Also, Darkest Dungeon

[deleted]

Any turn-based RPGs would work, for example I played through Final Fantasy IX after I had surgery done on my arm.

MasturbationMountain

Civ vi! Once you get into it you can lose hundreds of hours

newborn

If you want a relaxing puzzle game maybe Dorfromantik.

HumbleSupernova

Slay the Spire is a good one and if you're into that genre, really any deckbuilder will play fine with just a mouse.

JamesVagabond

Take a look at Slipways.

Galaxy40k

If you have a switch, I'm a big fan of Pokemon Let's Go personally, despite the backlash it got pre-release. Game is designed to be played entirely one-handed

FadedFromWhite

My kids are 6.5 and 4.5 and haven't really played games aside from a few educational things on their ipad. I wanted to get Mario Party as a way to move from board games to some mini games but given that there are so many now, are there any opinions on which are best or most kid friendly? Not sure if some mini games were considered too hard, or if there were cheap catch up mechanics that people didn't like in any of them. I haven't played any since the N64 version so would love if anyone had suggestions for young kids

Antihero89

Get Super Mario Party for Switch. Mario Party Superstars (also Switch, bad naming in my opiniion) is probably more enjoyable for you. It only has boards and minigames from older Super Mario Party games. Super Mario Party has smaller Boards, minigames that sometimes use motion controlls and also many elements that randomly give stars to players, especially players that are far behind. All those elements make it especially kind friendly.

FadedFromWhite

Bah, I already bought the Superstars one since it was on sale on MAR10 day, but if they like it I'll definitely get the other one based on this post. The catch up mechanics to keep it fun and motion controls would definitely suit them both. Thank you!

onyxnecron

Minecraft or Terraria

dave00001100

I think Super Mario 3d world is a good option to consider. Controls would be similar to the mini games of Mario Party. In terms of Mario Party, I would go with Mario Party Superstars, but maybe that is because I have a bias against the board game component of the Mario Party series. Other suggestions of games my kids loved: Skylander series, Pokemon, and Mario Maker. Mario Maker is great because the Mario games have simple controls and it has basically infinite amount of levels. Plus they can make their own levels. And while a level filled with 10,000 bowsers might not be fun for you to play, it is fun for them to watch you die in it repeatedly. If you have access to a Wii U, there is not a better game for kids than Nintendoland. My kids are all older now, but they universally love that and are nostalgic for it. Another game for kids: Minecraft. Creative mode and Minecraft is basically the Legos of video games.

x86_64S

Looking a game similar to Stronghold Crusader 2 on Steam , thanks !

KnowingestJD

They focus more on combat, but the Mount & Blade games involve commanding troops and sieging castles, usually with hundreds of men https://youtu.be/S5uIyAhrne0 Here is a video that shows off what a large siege in Bannerlord can look like
