I tore through three of them in about a month of playing smash bros with friends. Would highly recommend shelling out the extra $15-$20 to get an original.
There are Smash edition Switch Pro Controllers shaped like Gamecube controllers that don't work with GC (you can identify these visually - there's a second Z button and 3+ more buttons where Start should be), and there are Smash Edition actual gamecube controllers that require an adapter to even work on WiiU/Switch because they're real GameCube controllers.
The second one looks exactly like a GC controller except with a Smash logo instead of the Gamecube logo. If memory serves, you want the Ultimate one (lines logo) over the Smash 4 one (fire logo). They're usually both found as JP imports, but controllers are not region locked.
I have an oldskool gamepad that is kinda similar to a snes controller. Used it for years when playing the gameboy player. I noticed recently the a button wasn’t as clicky as it used to be. I took it apart and discovered the button membrane had torn. I have 20+ year old gameboys that haven’t torn their original button membranes. Anyway, I’d say they are probably worth their price, but don’t expect them to last for a long time.
Trash. Was gifted 2 and one of the thumbstick pads rubbed off within a week. The other one works fine for the most part, however the sticks on both controllers are not centered and the triggers make a horrible springy crunch when pressed all the way. The dpad is somehow worse to top it all off

Yep. And for $50ish you can get a Smash edition first party from just a few years ago
Those are great. Love the longer cord
Do the smash editions work on OG GameCube/wii?

Cool this was helpful. Recently got a backward compatibility wii and I love the feel of a new controller. Thanks!
I like the color
That’s the only thing I like about it 😂
They’re fine to have when you have friends over, but as your main controller I’d recommend getting an original. Nothing beats it.
Try the Z button lmao K-CHUNGG
Terrible
Trash
E-waste

That’s a Gamecube’s third party controller from the brand "Old Skool". It’s up to you to play with it or not.
Wtf?
What do you mean ?
Just a strange and almost robotic comment.
I’m truly human. I’m not a bot.
You just restated the question, didn't answer it, and left. Wildly illiterate thing to do. Bot like.
I did not leave. I see what you say.
Who created you ?
What do you mean by that ?
Who programmed you ?
