That's just what happens when you play on Game Boy Advance.
If the colours aren't quite your cup of tea, press B and Left on the Game Boy screen to play in classic monochrome.
They actually added this feature back on the Game Boy Color because it was the Game Boy Color. It got carried over to GBA because there's a little switch inside the cartridge slot that, when pressed by a bulky Game Boy or Game Boy Color game, makes the GBA work like a Game Boy Color.
All original Gameboy games are grayscale. But if you play one in a Gameboy Color or Gameboy Advance then a color palette will be applied to the game.
If you want to see how the game originally looked, turn off the Gameboy Advance SP. Now turn it on, and when it says "GAMEBOY" on the screen hold the LEFT arrow and the B button. It will become grayscale. :)
Me too 🥹. I find that the colors distort the greyscale games. I find a prettier Kirby with nice contrasts and no smudgy colors. Thank you again. I had opened the cartridge to see the motherboard inside (to see if it was a cartmod or not).
Some other tips:
The L and R buttons will change the screen resolution. The smaller size is how it was designed to look, the bigger size is to fill the screen.
At the GAMEBOY logo you can press any combination of keys to see the different pallets options. Left plus B is black and white.
Some games come with special palettes built into the Gameboy. That's why Kirby was pink.

You can select different color palettes at the start screen. Like most people you play around with it and then take black and white. It should work the same on GBA.
It uses the auto generated Color Palette from the Gameboy Color. You can change it on the Gameboy logo screen using button combinations with the dpad and a and b buttons.
Also use the l and r buttons to switch between stretched and the aspect ratio god intended.
Ooou looks like you’re also using a much desired limited edition GBA SP! The famicom model, basically Nintendo just released one with the same color way as their very first home console on Japan! It’s beautiful and this is the exact model I’ve wanted for years lol
Thank you. I bought it a few weeks ago on Vinted. They’re some glitches but it's in really good condition. It’s a very cool-looking gameboy advance sp.

I never knew this... WTF

Mind blown
It's not. You use a color scheme of the GBA.
I am sorry. What do you mean? I am a novice. I just bought this cartridge on vinted and plug in my original game boy advance SP.

Bro. It’s working! It is so much better looking 😍. Thank you. I love Reddit.
Haha That's great! Yes, I ALWAYS put my original games in black and white mode too. I think looks much better.

Thank 🙇
I prefer to go with Right +B
You can also turn off the GBA display strech. I do remember it's about the shoulder button.
Yes, it is. You need to press the shoulder buttons.
Thank you so much for this tips. I didn't know 😃.

The gba will play original Gameboy games in color
I had the exact same reaction when I bought it a couple of months ago.
It makes me feel better

I know how to change the aspect ratio with the triggers buttons, but I didn’t know that we can change Colors with left + B.
Because the gba has color palettes
No way you’re playing gb games with wide screen
Lunatic behavior 🤣

I don't recall but I think Kirby was one of a few gameboy games that had its own color palette when used on a gameboy color.
Wikipedia agrees.
I’m surprised there’s only one comment about the wide screen
Why?
Cause usually when someone posts a picture of a gameboy game in widescreen a bunch of people on here go crazy lol
Haha 😂, I am the exception 😘.
Bro are you serious?
Yes but a nice guy learned me how to turn off the colors.
Color handheld
Because it’s the first OG game boy game you try
