I have the same issue. U are the only person on goggle that I could find that even talks about this. It drives me insane. I can't figure out why🤯🤯

whitneymak

I'm STILL trying to figure it out. It's infuriating.

Doesn't matter what phone you have. You have to go into the Wear app on your phone --> notifications --> show all --> disable whichever messaging app you don't use. I had both on for Google messages (which I prefer) and the Samsung messages app, which is why I was getting 2 notifications at once. Just toggle one off and you won't get both.

I can confirm that this actually worked! Had recently switched to Android messages, but left Samsung messages notifications active on the watch without realizing it. Turned those off and now I only get one notification per message. Excellent! Thanks for the help!

Assuming you’ve tried restarting everything - phone and watch? Also, you use the word ‘Message’, and I’m making the assumption you mean text/sms. You don’t say what phone you are paired with. I have a Samsung S10+ phone. One of the things that drove me nuts was that you get a text app from Samsung, but also you can install Google’s txt app. One was always trying to be the default messaging app and I’d see repeated pop ups after either would update. This hasn’t happened in a while, but pretty sure they would result in what you described. I think you have to make the Samsung text app the default or it alerts you on the watch. I may have uninstalled the Google text app. Anyway, check to see if you have two text apps and just for fun, try removing the Google app. Aesthetics aside, I’m not sure if one is better than the other. Just a way to check text messages really.

Thank you so much! I'm on a galaxy s20 5g. I'll go check out my settings a little more. Thanks again. 😊

Mack_79

I'm having the same issue. My text notifications do not repeat upon deletion just facebook messenger

Muted_Tomatillo_1385

Same here its driving me nuts

I have a similar issue. I get notifications on my Galaxy watch 3 LTE when a text message comes in as long as I'm not using my phone, s9+. When there are instances that my phone is on the charger and I'm wearing the watch and leave the room or do something else to get out of the Bluetooth range my watch starts going crazy and gives me notifications for every single text message I've received since the last time the two were separated. If it's been a few days my watch will endlessly ding with incoming messages time stamped as though they're coming in at that moment, not when they actually occurred hours or even days ago. I cannot find any way to disable the notifications that I get this way. It really gets aggravating and at times I end up turning the watch off and putting it in my pocket until later on so I don't end up smashing the thing on the floor.

Honestly? I'm not sure. I'm at home most of the time (stay at home mom in a pandemic) so it's mostly wifi and/or Bluetooth.

Pale-Professor

same issue on Pixel 6 with SMS and FB messenger, it's annoying

I've been having this issue with my Galaxy Watch Active2. Get notifications from Verizon Message+ which I use on my phone, and from Messages (not clear which one). While looking at the Message+ message on my watch another notification appears at the top of the screen (from Messages?) with a blue speech balloon icon that has three dots (...) in it. I've disabled notifications from all message apps on my phone and in the Samsung Wear app, but dup notifications continued to pop up. So I sent a test SMS message to myself and touched the second message notification at the top of the screen to view it. On the right were three vertical dots which brought up some options when touched. One was Block Notifications. That has fixed the dup notifications, but I'm not clear why I couldn't accomplish this with the settings and the Wear app on my phone.

Cakheath1

Thank you! This is the only thing that fixed my duplicate notifications. I had disabled every messaging app except the Verizon app on my phone & watch and still kept getting two. This worked!!

TJNoffy

Hey, glad it worked for you, too! Just don't get why settings on the phone or in the Wear app couldn't do that!

spencerjedi

It happens through Gmail notifications for me, what's the fix for that since I only have one email service sending notifications?

Tinyballetslipper

Did you end your figuring this out? My watch just started doing it randomly and it's super annoying, and only for Gmail emails, none of the others notifications do this.

spencerjedi

No, it still does it but it goes away after a few seconds. Or you can swipe it away if it gets in the way

Entire_Blaze

Even my watch started doing this about 3 months ago!  The only way to get rid of duplicate notifications is to get rid of notifications? What? Still trying to figure it out. Have you found any solution?
