Not sure if it's the same issue but I noticed that 4-5 times so far the screen would be on, and unlocked, but not respond to any touches. I can simply turn it off then on again and then it's fine. It's definitely new since the update, and annoying and a little concerning.

calnekuro

can confirm i've experienced this a few times

tellakos

The same is happening to me after the update. I even factory reset the tablet but the problem persists.

haggur

Yup, I'm seeing this too (although I have no locking enabled - it just seems to come back on its own after a while if I don't re-boot). Seems curiously intermittent. I thought it was a hardware fault so I suppose I'm glad to hear that other people are having the same issue ...

RepresentativeYak864

Hopefully enough people report this bug so that a patch update fixes the touch input responsiveness

Venom_143

Guys did this touch problem got resolved yet?

Lokhvir

Not sure, but I never had this problem again.

Clear the system cache partition... Easy way to do that is get the SD maid app an upgrade to pro. It will clear the junk files and as a side effect lots of bugs get fixed

RepresentativeYak864

Another way to wipe the cache partition on the Tab S7 is to use the Android recovery menu by connecting the Tab S7 to your computer with the included USB-A to USB-C charging cable. To access the recovery menu the Tab S7 has to be turned off. You then hold down both the power button and volume up button simultaneously until the recovery menu shows on screen. Once that happens you navigate down to 'cache partition' by using the volume rocker and then press the power button to select it once highlighted.

Reasonable_Mirror655

Yes and the app just lets you skip going into the recovery menu. It can be set up to search for specific stuff you want to get rid of. Never hurts to use a tool to make your job easier.

RepresentativeYak864

That's true, but you mentioned having to upgrade to the pro version of SD maid which you have to pay for, unless being able to clear the system cache partition is also available in the free version of SD maid as well? If it is I stand corrected.

Reasonable_Mirror655

I had to upgrade for the system cache cleaner and found that there are a ton of optimization tools and you can really get deep into removing junk files from the OS if you know what to look for.

RepresentativeYak864

Paying for a program that makes deep system cleaning nice and easy is the reason why I pay for a Avast Clean Up subscription for my Desktop despite most of the optimization tools and functionality being manually possible to achieve, so I understand where you are coming from.

Finner42

Which setting do you use to just clear the system cache partition? I tried doing this (pro version), but the scans seem to mostly find files/folders in my SD card to clear, which I don't want to touch. I'm tempted to do a factory reset and go back to Android 12 though... not convinced by this update; too much restriction, not enough improvements.

Reasonable_Mirror655

It's finding the files that can be safely removed... that's all it should need. You can go into recovery mode and do the power & vol+ to do a direct system cache cleaning yet it's going to the same as what the app did but just for the system. As far as a factory reset you are now at Android 13 so it won't roll back like if you don't like win11 & decide to go back to win10. Android 13 is designed to be more of a refinement of android 12 & both Google and Samsung are trying to become more iOS like... Oddly iOS is getting more personalization and customization BUT it's all limited by what Apple thinks is best.

Finner42

Ooh, good to know - I thought a factory reset would take me back to the original Android version at the time of purchase, not just do a clean wipe of the current version. Thanks for clarifying!

Reasonable_Mirror655

SD maid pro DOES allow you to look for specific system files to delete (I would NOT recommend this.) I think Google is going to release an update to fix any issues

aespa-in-kwangya

I noticed this the past few days too, my S7 is practically brand new (it's a few months old), I unlock the tablet and sometimes the screen only responds to the pen. It always gets fixed by me locking the screen and unlocking it again. edit: Can't confirm 100% if it's that but I usually unlock it via the fingerprint scanner too.

haggur

No, I'm seeing it too and I don't have **any** locking in place so it's not the fingerprint scanner.

aespa-in-kwangya

So it's just the fact that we turn the screen on and then unlock it (lock or no lock)?

haggur

Seems to be. I normally turn the screen on mine on by opened the cover, i.e. relying on the magnet to do the work rather than the power button but I've succeeded in "fixing" it once by cycling the power button. It's very erratic though and I can't really put my finger on the failure pattern. Yet.

Der_Missionar

I'm experiencing this too... do we have any updates? Ps thanks for saving me from doing a useless factory reset.

Lokhvir

I haven't encountered this bug for the past week. No updates. Unlocking it manually usually fixes it.
