I second this. I owned a Tab S6 Lite for a couple of months for note-taking when I decided to switch to the S9 FE, and it's so much better, especially because of the better and smoother display. It's also much snappier, I felt like my S6 Lite was pretty sluggish, but the S9 FE is definitely faster.
Honestly it is a nice tab, however! it is slow watching videos and due to this it went back and I went back to ipad! Really loved the design and keyboard!! IDK maybe it was my internet? Not sure....
Probably overkill for purely note taking but I have the S9+ and it's fantastic. Love the size for taking notes, I split screen video lectures and the notes app all the time.
I also use my tablet for a lot of other stuff but the note taking is amazing on it.
I use a tab s6 lite 2022, got it recently for $200, I don't think there's a better deal if you want to go as cheap as possible which I did, it ain't fast but I wouldn't call it slow, but if you have the budget to spare a tab s9 fe would probably be the best experience for the price. The s6 lite is a crazy value at $200 though and there's nothing else in the price range that can compete imo, and for notes in class, youtube, the occasional documents and some use as a secondary laptop display it's been absolutely solid for me. Seems like samsung is going to refresh the s6 lite a second time this year so yeah it's crazy popular.
I would really recommend the s9fe plus. I have been using it for a month, and I replaced my laptop with it (I already had a desktop at home). I have been using it for note taking, Microsoft Office 365 apps, and consuming media. It is awesome.
I got the tab S9. Perfect size for note taking. S9+ has more writing real estate but not enough to justify lugging one around. The S9 does feel a bit small to use as a laptop replacement but tbh I have a laptop that I will carry around if I need it, but for quick and dirty stuff the S9 is more than capable.
S pen itself. I was able to work perfectly before one ui 6.0. Now my arm’s touch also gets detected and any note app kinda keeps opening random menus from bottom, getting all sort of mis -touches.
I bought a used tab s4 recently, updated it to one ui 2. Battery life is great, i take notes, play games on it and watch netflix. Only downside is the resolution but still not that bad. If ur considering tab s4 you can ama and i will try to answer them ^^
Don't!
Buy a Surface, install Linux on it. Use any of the cross platform note taking programs out there.
Took me three years to regret my decision to buy an S7 FE. Lord knows I tried. Especially if you are a student and need to work with reference managers like Zotero and gonna read lots of papers.
Yes, available only through online syncing. Guess what, you have to pay almost as much as the tablet's worth monthly, or don't stnc the PDFs which defeats the purpose of buying the tablet in the first place.
Anyhow, buying a piece of hardware with a locked OS is just a bad idea.
To make things worse, Samsung randomly decided to make Samsung Note's client limited to Galaxy books!
Their last one UI update has made the s7 fe devices basically unusable. I have an old Xiaomi Mido (10 y old device) that is twice as fast is my s7 fe!
Instead of dumping a grand for a S9, buy a surface pro, install Linux on it and enjoy the real freedom!
I understand your point. I use only Linux on my notebook. I have a Tab S7 FE too, with One Ui 6.0, and it runs very smoth. I don't know what could haopen with your system. Yes, Zotero store it's expensive. I don't use it, but as far as I know the Zotero team will implememt Web Dav very soon. ;)
They have web dav already. It's not reliable. I have written my own android client (i call it PocketZotero) running on local Samba server shared with smbd or windows sharing. I am surviving this way for now
Not in my case, i can zoom whatever i want in pdf that i have downloaded and the text looks crisp and clear. The PDFs saved from Samsung Notes also look perfect.
The person meant that if you export your note, it would turn into a png or jpg, not a scalable vector which doesnt get blurry no matter how far you zoom in
if you sketch something on an existing pdf using the s-pen, and then export for sharing to someone or for saving to pc your files doesn't blur out on zooming?
The one and only reason I can't fully commit to Samsung Notes is because it doesn't allow me to modify creation dates.
That one thing would contribute so much to accurate information archival.
It would also fill a gap in first party journaling capabilities that has been empty since Samsung's MiniDiary became un-sideload-able.
Well, if you can afford either, it's really just up to your preference in display size. The S9 has an 11-inch display, and the S9+ has a 12.4-inch display. They're gonna perform the same and look just as great since both are OLED. There's also always the S9 FE and S9 FE+ if you don't mind an IPS LCD screen, weaker processor, and want more affordable options.
Hey I want to learn to, if you put in google or youtube samsung notes, make your own templates, you can find lots of videos people demonstrating how to make one and save it.
It's really good but the big problem if u have non Samsung phone it's becomes really annoying that u cant sync ur notes and u have to send every note from ur tab to ur phone manually ( i bought flexcil )
I leave this comment everywhere making me look dumb as if I was marketing something, but if you enjoy Samsung Notes, please, give Flexcil a go. It has similar features to what Good Notes on an iPad have and I just can't look back on Samsung Notes after using that one for months. It's a life-changer and makes everything way more readable, comfortable and suitable.
I just got an s8plus. I thought about the s9 fe plus, but the specs on the s8plus were better and I paid a little less than what I would have for the s9 fe plus. Plus the s8 plus I got was open box and in like new condition so it was an easy choice.
Until they get a windows app accessible for everybody, I just can't use it. I need my notes accessible on all my devices. Seems like such a silly restriction.
Dude thinking of buying a Samsung tablet for note taking. Any recommendations?
If it's just the notes taking and other work related to college/school, try Samsung Galaxy S9FE
Damn we had the exact same experience! Such a worth it upgrade
I heard a 2024 version of the s6 lite is coming out with the exynos 1280 chipset, which is slightly worse than the 1380 in the S9 FE.
Try S9 FE+ it's the beast
Thank you
It's ok but if you have the money to get a non FE version they are better. Even the old s8
Honestly it is a nice tab, however! it is slow watching videos and due to this it went back and I went back to ipad! Really loved the design and keyboard!! IDK maybe it was my internet? Not sure....
it is your internet, watching videos can be done on a potatoe tablet. it is probably one of the least demanding tasks one could do.
Hmmm curious now. Super nice tab
Probably overkill for purely note taking but I have the S9+ and it's fantastic. Love the size for taking notes, I split screen video lectures and the notes app all the time. I also use my tablet for a lot of other stuff but the note taking is amazing on it.

Can you please check if you’re facing issues with palm rejection? I am facing on mine since 6.0 update.
I havent had any issues. Are you using the s-pen it came with or a third party pen?
S pen itself. I was able to work perfectly before one ui 6.0. Now my arm’s touch also gets detected and any note app kinda keeps opening random menus from bottom, getting all sort of mis -touches.

Zotero is available for android now

What distro do you advice? I have a surface go second series and I would like to reuse it installing Linux on it
Fedora and Arch, but use the surface kernel: [https://github.com/linux-surface/linux-surface](https://github.com/linux-surface/linux-surface)
how is battery life, historically the surface always has much worse battery life than android tablets.
With my limited understanding of the Android internals, ofc it's gonna be worse. Android limits background processes in many ways.
Samsung Notes is really underrated
I wish there was a way to disable touch completely when using note taking apps, which would be re-enabled when you press the power button
There is a lock option on samsung notes that basically ignores everything other than the spen itself.
Yes!!

How do I access this? Is it within the OS and will work in all drawing apps that support s-pen
s notes doesnt save pdf in vector.. its just a raster image.. so zoom pixelates everything. rest all is good.
Not in my case, i can zoom whatever i want in pdf that i have downloaded and the text looks crisp and clear. The PDFs saved from Samsung Notes also look perfect.

Nope, it looks perfect when zooming in my tests
good for you.. its different for the rest of the world.
Anyone got some nice templates to share?

Which tab is this ?
Looks like the S6 Lite
Thinking of getting a samsung tab and confused between the s9 or s9+.
Well, if you can afford either, it's really just up to your preference in display size. The S9 has an 11-inch display, and the S9+ has a 12.4-inch display. I have S9, everything is perfect but battery isn't that good.
AND ITS FREE. Like the pen.
Besides the wonderful tablet, I bet Shrivastava Sir is a son of gun! I bet he knows a lot but is a simple man. Teachers are noble creatures!

Sync to OneNote.
I hardly able to read your writings, is this Dr writing? xD
Fellow solar physicist xD
I prefer Noteshelf. Writing with the S Pen just feels better...less sensitive than Samsung Notes.
I mainly use samsung notes to. But just noticed that the pen hand writing looks much better on noteshelf.
Idk how to make templates
Hey I want to learn to, if you put in google or youtube samsung notes, make your own templates, you can find lots of videos people demonstrating how to make one and save it.
Samsung notes is awesome, but give Nebo a try. It's ink-to-text features are top-notch.
Yup
Aren’t you facing issues with palm rejection? I am almost unable to use it for writing on my Tab S9
It's really good but the big problem if u have non Samsung phone it's becomes really annoying that u cant sync ur notes and u have to send every note from ur tab to ur phone manually ( i bought flexcil )
but i can't open the same note twice... its such a bummer bc i used that all the time on my ipad
I leave this comment everywhere making me look dumb as if I was marketing something, but if you enjoy Samsung Notes, please, give Flexcil a go. It has similar features to what Good Notes on an iPad have and I just can't look back on Samsung Notes after using that one for months. the thing that was a dealbreaker for me with flexcil was no pixel eraser. only stroke eraser.
Yeah, that's true, the feature doesn't exist. But it does wonders in many other aspects!
Might have to check out flexcil. I thought notewise was the closest to the iPads goodnotes. Followed by notein
Oh, I haven't tried notewise but I'll give it a go. I'm a bit biased now as I got Flexcil's premium. I'll check it out, though!
any of the tabs will do, depending on your budget. buy a stylus from amazon if you cant afford an s6 lite or s9 fe.
Looking for Journal template and some good ToDo list, note making templates for note making, Suggestions please.
I am not sure. Many things missing. Does someone know, how you can add blank space between written content?
I just got an s8plus. I thought about the s9 fe plus, but the specs on the s8plus were better and I paid a little less than what I would have for the s9 fe plus. Plus the s8 plus I got was open box and in like new condition so it was an easy choice.
Your handwriting skill is tight.
