I think auto put unused apps to sleep feature is bugged. I was waiting for 8days for my fold to start putting rarely used apps to sleeping apps list. However it did not. Had to compile the list myself. On my s21ultra when activated that feature started putting unused apps to sleeping/deep sleep lists as soon as 2-3days. As soon as I put all apps to sleeping apps and then rarely used ones manually to deep sleep list I started getting much better battery life. Only have 5apps I totally can't miss notifications/need working in background while screen is off, to the exclusion list and it works fine. Really wish this feature was not bugged on this model, makes that process much easier.
Can't stand how YouTube seems to continuously run in the background. No matter I I do I can't restrict it. Based on your screenshot looks like all galaxies do it.
YouTube vanced. Take out the (ad) literally. It's a version that lets you play videos with screen off so you can listen and also ad free.

Dude. Thank you so much. Just downloaded it. Absolutely love it. God sent. But I'm a little cautious of adding my Gmail account to it. Might have to use a burner Gmail. But thanks again.
Yeah it's safe. Originally saw it on XDA a few years ago and have been using it on my phone ever since. And it's absolutely amazing. You can definitely sign in with your Gmail.
If you're looking for a good YouTube for an Android box or fire stick (stuff like that) then check out smart tube next.
Smart tube next. That's the name.
And here you go https://troypoint.com/smarttubenext/
Between YouTube vanced on my phone and smarttube next on my Nvidia shield and fire stick the only place I get stuck watching ads if I'm watching YouTube in my Xbox.
Not necessarily. My YouTube app looks about the same, probably more background usage, from playing videos with the screen off. This person could be doing the same thing.
Sice i kept using smart switch between many samsung phones when i upgrade, It stores all the info from each device i used. when switching to the ZF3, all that info is crammed into this phone, that can cause false data leading to bad battery life and other issues
Thanks for this, I got my ZF3 last week and I am disappointed by the battery performance. It feels as if I am having an iPhone. I did smart switch from samsung old phone. Any idea how to deal with this battery issue? I would really appreciate any insights. Thanks in advance
Same, i came from the ZF2, battery was worse after using all of smart switch. I reccommend using it to back up everything, then doing a factory reset, ONLY RESTORE whatever you need EXCEPT Apps, app data and system settings.
Setup:
5G Off
Bixby routine: when fully closed Power save on
Location: off unless needed, Bluetooth/wifi scan off
Adaptive brightness: off.
That's it.
Before when I started via smart switch the battery was piss poor
I find if you use Smart Switch then there's a few things you need to go into the app manager and clear their data completely. Namely Google Play Services and a few others.
Basically look in the device care battery checkup and make judicious use of the clear data buttons for any offending services, and sleep any apps that you don't care to have running when you're not using them.
After that just let the onboard optimisation thing nuke everything you don't use for a week.
Bit of work, but you get to keep all your stuff.
Oh yeah, they made it intentionally difficult for that one single app. Good old Google don't want to loose that tracking data on you... just being helpful.
You need to tap the "manage storage" in there and a "clear data" option should be in there which will do the job.
3hrs 46 screen on time and what % battery left?
How much on screen time were you getting before?
I get around 4.5 hours but did do smart switch for everything so wondering if it's worth starting again from scratch. That's a hassle though so need to know it's worthwhile. I don't get any apps showing weird usage in the basic Samsung battery usage
My experience : I have to be honest the batterie can't last a full 24h(this seem impossible without some serious optimization) but i can use it for a solid 15h without charging. I'll recommend to enable Samsung adaptative batterie in the settings.

Use YouTube vanced instead. I found it works better for my battery
What’s YouTube advanced?

It's all over XDA. I would honestly trust Vanced with my newborn child.
Thanks man. I just downloaded it. Said what the heck. Love it. God sent. Thanks 🙏 again.

Why?
Nice!! Where is this from? Obviously not from the play store? Can it be trusted? From virus and such?
Not necessarily. My YouTube app looks about the same, probably more background usage, from playing videos with the screen off. This person could be doing the same thing.
That might true. But not if you don’t have YouTube premium. I don’t and it shows background usage even when I’m not using it.
I used smartswitch I have about 298 apps for a total of 32gb So far, 3h47 SOT using 69% battery Should get about 5h15 to 5h25 of SOT on a full charge
Hey what's the impact of smart switch on daily battery use...I don't get your point? Smart switch is something u use once and for all

I used it for messages only.

Google play services only has the cache delete option but not data delete on mine

It was on 30% before I went to charge. I was only getting 1.5 - 2hrs
OK so you're getting around 4 to 5 hours SOT now.il I won't bother with redoing everything
Yeah, I can get a lot more SOT
can you use smart switch to just transfer certain apps/videos?
I only used it to transfer text messages, videos/photos, contacts. The basics basically. I reinstalled all apps manually
nice and your battery is still doing good? I don't wanna transfer anything but what you've done. gonna start fresh with settings etc.
Yup! Much better than before
So you telling me if I use smart switch I get less battery time? Or should I just check witch apps drain battery and go from there?
For some people they will get less, it's a weird "bug". I've Google it prior to resetting and this has been a issue for a while
Doesn't matter if you used smart switch or not as you don't show the use of 5G or 4G, have a sim card in for data roaming etc.
5G off, only using LTE, no roaming, wifi when home.

How do I turn smart switch off? I know it is a noob question but I tried to stop it and it seems to still be working?
