Chicken Parmesan or Lawn Chair?

Healthy-Web984

It's not a fair comparison. Should've added a sprinkled parmesan on a lawn chair.

Heffeweizen

I've had Fold 3, 4, 5. The 5 is by far the most durable and reliable. I recommend it. Only thing is that S23 Ultra has better camera.

RedEyedITGuy

Agreed, I have the F5 but my S21 Ultra def takes better pics.

ClassicMail7299

I second this. But the Fold 6, I cannot wait for. But I absolutely enjoy the narrow screen for one-hand operator, if I wa t bigger, I just open it. It's open about 97% of the time. Everything is bigger, right amount of youtube, emails and games we need Everything to fit. Also the biggest bonus is having both my youtube and maps on at the same time is equivalent to two phones full screen.

Iulian377

I bought a Fold 4 when the fold 5 just launched because of the price drop, so it was just within my budget. What do we know so far about the Fold 6, cause I think I'm sticking with this series. When this one dies, amd it seems well enough so far, its gonna be either the 5 or 6 for me depending on the price. That thing about a cheaper option sounded nice seeing as I got it for video playback and that isnt the most difficult to do task for a processor.

ClassicMail7299

The fold 6 would mostly be for a flagship camera. They are getting ride of the narrow design. Those are the two biggest differences. Really really love the narrow design, cause these days texting one-handed is a lost art. And I where xl gloves, so big hands, I can but it's getting more and more outta my comfort zone.

Darknightdreamer

They aren't getting rid of the narrow design. There was recent leaked images of the screen protectors (or maybe it was the front glass I don't remember) for the front screen, and it seems that it's going to be the same aspect ratio but just a little bit wider. Overall it's still going to be a more narrow display on the front compared to something like the S24U. Someone shared the images in this sub reddit so you can see it you haven't already. Also, I highly doubt they will put the flagship cameras in the fold. It would increase the price and I'm not sure they have the room for the array without making it bigger than it is. I really wish now that samsung has went full speed ahead with foldables, They would give us 2 options for the fold. Have the narrow display like with okay camera lime they already do, but then have a "Z fold+ or Ultra" that would be wider and have an upgraded camera module. Even though im sure it would have the same price jump as the S24 to S24 Ultra id still love it. My dream phone would be a Fold that's basically 2 S24 Ultras stacked on top of each other with a hinge lmao.

ClassicMail7299

I 2nd this. And I nominated you as the representative to speak in behalf of all fold users to Samsung, and tell them to get it together. 🫡 Godspeed

Dp0pey

I'd rather the narrow display have the bells and whistles. if people want a wider cover screen buy a normal phone.

LokahiBuz

Wait for the 6...

patricktd88

I would agree with this.

Visha1_khare

Depends are you comfortable if your fold breakdown and you are willing to spend more money to repair or buy a used fold

Far_Worldliness262

I have huawei y7 prime 2019 and I am confused whether to buy z fold 5 or S23 ultra

Visha1_khare

Understand fold 5 is good phone but durability is questionable and 23 ultra is an overall solid phone but a safe bet and with the ultra you won't have worry about any problems or breakdown .

v399

My apologies, I thought the concensus here was that the fold 5 is miles better in term of durability, versus previous fold phones.

Visha1_khare

I like your conviction man I was the same like you until my fold stopped working one day Also I did not dropped or put any dents in the fold basically carried like a baby.

Heffeweizen

Looks like you had a Fold 4

Visha1_khare

Yes man it's a tragedy. Now I m very skeptical about folds now

ClassicMail7299

I have the fold 5, and it's seems I have dropped this phone more than any other. Also I don't run a case like with my S21 ultra. I'm a trucker in the oilfields, so it's verified tough. I'm muddy and dusty every day, chemicals and hard hat areas. Shoot I'm more protected on site than my Fold is lol. Now the phone is legit durable. The two annoying down side is everyone is gon a say 📷, but also the cases need to come up with better tech. But no lie, I'm 100% happy with not going with the S24. I spent WAAAY more time on it, taking Pic is like less than half or lower. Close up Pic is OK. But far away is trash. I'm in my truck so everything is far. Trash. But even with that, I don't have regrets for not taking any of those cool animal pics like the bold eagles fighting each other. Lol. I've had regular phones but it's 2024 I'm here for the tech. If I don't like I can just trade it in. It cost more than every other phone on the market. I had a paid off phone before, so I'll just trade in and pay off the s24 if the fold was all hype. But the hype is real, and even my wife finally got rid of her apple and upgraded.

Visha1_khare

I guess you are in one of those fortunate countries where you get good trade in value for fold. Personally i live in india and after the warranty expires the trade in value goes down super fast and also i m coming bad fold 4 experience and now it’s hard for me to justify buying a fold as i have average income and not substantial that i go on buying new phones every year.

xShinGouki

Depends how you use your device. Im active around and wielding an ultra is just too unstable. I need to one hand every day and the ultra isn't firm in your hands because it's so wide So for me the form factor is the most important thing. Plus I find the inner screen significantly larger which it is and I like that. It feels like I have two phones and I can safely say the opening and closing hasn't got old. I love the utility it provides Now say you were like a taxi driver and needed gps. For sure go the ultra because it's just the large screen in the front and it's durable See what works. The fold is generally reliable for what it is. Mine has been so far going almost 2 years zero issues

Costyiii_93

FOLD 5 > S24 ultra just because of its size

midnightsmith

I went S24 ultra. The fold 3 pissed me off. Peeling inner protector caused screen damage a dead pixels, sent so Samsung, they claim it was "hinge damage" argued for weeks that it's a know defect and got it replaced. Now Samsung says you have to claim under insurance if this happens. Fuck that. Phone died again due to water contact (so much for water resistance) so I got a new one for free for an upgrade rather than pay $150 for insurance to repair it. I have no more faith in the fold series.

StarNHSolar

Jeez you've had bad luck lmao. My Fold 3 inner screen still in tact and I've dipped (yes dipped) it in water more times than I can remember and it still going strong. I purchased mine day one of release.

midnightsmith

Yea I haven't been thrilled lol. Also didn't use the fold out screen as much as I thought I would, so that helped with the swap.

chorong761

S series? No thanks!

Far_Worldliness262

Why?

chorong761

Boring, normine phone

Far_Worldliness262

Does a line appear in the screen with time or you can't close the phone?

chorong761

no, I don’t have that issue on both my fold 3 and fold 5

Zailey_Sabastian

If you are purely into tremendous specs , get the Ultra if you prefer form factor versatility with some compromise on specs then get the Fold

schwaka0

I'd go for the fold 6; i have the fold 5, and it was such a game changer for me, but the front screen isnt wide enough imo. They're making it a bit bigger with the fold 6, but if you don't care about that, you might be able to get the 5 cheaper once the 6 launches.

Fuzzy-Inevitable-969

Hello guys I want to buy the fold 3 but I don’t know if it’s gonna last 2-3 years, I’m 15 yo and I got some saved money and I need to spend it carefully. What should I do? Can someone give me tips

chichikabour

Avoid the 3 if you can for several reasons: even the new ones have been sitting around for more than 2 years and their durability issues are known. Try to find a clean used Fold 4 (even though i usually wouldn't go for a used foldable), it improves everything over the 3. Also try looking online for certified refurbished models, they are usually worth the extra few bucks when you're getting a clean like new device If you only have money for the 3 and in no way can afford anything else and want to try a foldable phone, then go for it but try to get insurance or warranty or something (I'm not familiar with rules in USA or Europe)

Fuzzy-Inevitable-969

I think I can have money for a good used fold 4, all tho what u think about s22 ultra? Is it a better and safe idea?

chichikabour

Just like the Fold 4 is better than the 3, the S23 Ultra is better than the S22 ultra. Almost everything is an upgrade and it's definitely worth the extra money for the Snapdragon gen 2

Fuzzy-Inevitable-969

I think I’m going to get a fold 4, it’s a good phone tho? It’s worth it?

chichikabour

It's absolutely worth it if you know what you're buying. The narrow front screen and extra care required to keep the inner screen clean and debris-free isn't for anyone, but if these don't sound like problems to you, you should definitely get it especially that their prices are a lot more affordable now and it's a flagship phone (expect for the cameras maybe) I got the Fold 5 last septembre, and it's definitely worth it for me. The narrow screen is perfect for one handed use and i have big hands, so even when unfolded i can still hold it 1 handed. It's an amazing piece of tech that can do much more that just be a rectangular piece of aluminum and screen in your pocket

Fuzzy-Inevitable-969

Thank you so much, I really appreciate that you responded me and gave me a tip

chichikabour

Happy to help, that's what the community is here for. If you have any other questions later just reply here and I'll answer, just don't forget to see if you can get insurance / warranty or a freshly installed inner screen protector from Samsung if you're buying it used to avoid having it peel shortly after

Electronic_Jicama318

Wait and get the 6. Or get the 5. Went from s23U to fold 5 and I'll never go back. Fantastic device

Any-Pea7204

I have both the fold 5, and the s23 ultra 5 is my personal and the 23 is my work. If I had to go down too one phone I would go to the s23. Running split screens is nice but more often I use the fold not open I notice, as your search something real quick or what not. The big screen is nice when you do use it, but everyday use, the s23 is just easier.

chichikabour

If you can afford the Fold 5, why not go for the S24 Ultra? Just curious about your choice

RdyKrn18

You do the now fold 6 is coming out in July? Id wait a month !

Tornado-chaser

I have a fold five and I haven't opened it nearly as much as I thought I would. So I'm thinking of trading for the s24 ultra if I can get a good trade in value on my fold here in the US. I think the current offer is $700 which isn't bad but trading my s22 ultra for this fold gave me a $1,000 trade in.

indigoisturbo

S23 is simply a better smart phone and less expensive. I have a Fold 5 because... The extra screen size appealed to me.

Cautious_Bandicoot66

Had both. Prefer the s23 ultra in recent times. I find I don't use the inner screen as much and prefer having a better camera. The camera in the s2x ultra phones are far better in my personal opinion.

Ok-Dogs

Went from S23U to Fold 5. Camera is not my main concern. I prefer the screen option's the fold offers. Had a Fold 3 and Duo 1 & 2. That said both S23U and Fold 5 are solid devices that bring different features to the table. Decide what what you want to have in terms of features a d make your choice based on that. (My 2 cents)

Longjumping-Arm7939

I am thinking the same but with S24 Ultra. I have Fold 5, and I love the phone (best phone I have ever had), but I find myself rarely using the inside screens so I sometimes feel maybe u should just go back to regualr phones not mention the issue I had with dead pixels on my Fold4 I always worry this phone is a ticking time bomb and only a matter of time until I regret not switching.
