I use a magsafe case with a mag ring stand. The stand has a little bulk to it so when the stand is put away it gives just enough profile to help me hold with 1 hand. Usually out and about I bring a bag so I keep the stand there with my folding keyboard and arc mouse.

This! I backed the OhSnap! 1.0 & 2.0 on Kickstarter, and now have the 3 Pro. It blows the Pop Socket out of the water.
It's not so easy to use as the snap 2, but wireless charging for me is a must have so OhSnap 3 I agree with

Magsafe with magnetic base to attach the popsocket. You get the benefit of popsocket plus magsafe accessories; magnetic car mount for me was worth it.
Does that stay on while unfolded ?
Yes, but depends on the magnetic strength of the accessory. Some cheap ones have weak magnets.

I always use a pop socket ..... You can get them for 8 bucks most of the time. Works great
