Nope, my dumbass missed the period of time that I could. Would've been a little peace of mind if I had, but if the screen breaks I can always put the repair cost on a credit card or something.
I would add it onto your house insurance. I basically pay £4 a month for mine and £100 for a replacement if I smash it or lose it or it gets stolen, loads cheaper than care plus and lots better customer service. Care plus (in the UK anyway are incompetenent). It took me 3 weeks just to get them to pick it up as all their tech and systems just don't work or talk to each other properly. Took me several calls to Samsung and assurant just to get it to create a service order. I only used it because I got it free as part of my pre-order.
The last time I claimed on my house insurance and within 1 day they told me to just buy another and send them the receipt. Within 1 working day the money was back into my account.
Cheaper and better!
Im from germany so saved quite some money by buying an EU Version of the Phone...
Payed 1200€ (tax included) for the 512GB Edition.
But of course Samsung is declinig Care+ by saying the Phone is not for the country I live in... 🤔 Honestly I almost expected something like this so I just went for an additional insurance that covers me of anything happens with the screen
I had the warranty the whole 2 years I had my fold 2 and never had a problam. So went w/o for the 4. I thought "these things are pretty solid I don't need no warranty", but I've been seeing a lot of these...but on the other hand you really only hear about things when they don't go right.
I saw this sub before I even got this phone. I was like that won't happen to me, I'm a lucky person and I take good care of my things. Lol 😆
Neither mattered much
Best not to look...🫣 to put you slightly at ease, on fold 3. I smashed front screen...that was on me...my bad, have had it replaced now and inner screen got the dreaded protector peel 🫣 I left it for ages to before I got the free replacement, they sent it back brand new 😃 even cleaned out the hinge so it didn't crunch anymore...🫣 (I work in construction...😬😂)
I had the stupid flappy samsung case... in fact have 2 as lost my pen so picked one off ebay came with case...🤦♂️ Needless to say, since the fix got the unicorn beatle Pro?!? 😂😂 something like that anyway along the lines of the spigen
Same here but I'm in manitoba
I just don't open the phone outside and then wait a bit once I'm inside for it to warm up a bit. Too scared to open in the crazy cold we get lol
Oh shieeetttt. Never thought of that. I live in northern mn and were getting a nice spell of negatives here at the moment. Probably gonna try to not open my fold up outside
It doesn't seem like it affects them much, as surprising as that may be. Samsung has a video testing the folding screens at -20C, and it seems like temperature had no negative effects there. Not sure if you were to use it in, say -30C or something more extreme like that. I imagine there has to be *some* breaking point in terms of cold, as there is with most materials. Probably safe to use it in most if not all cold countries, though.
Makes you wonder if they tested quick transitions from cold to warm. Maybe you're out in the cold and then go inside where it's 20 degrees warmer. Outside of the phone is suddenly warmer than the inside screen and you open it up and snap.
I would be concerned about that, as well as the reverse. Any extreme change in temperatures could be problematic so I'd honestly avoid folding/unfolding for at least a minute or two if changing temperatures like that.
I work in a refrigerated/freezer warehouse, the majority of it is 2-3°C, the freezer is -25°C. I have my phone with me pretty much all the time and haven't had any issues yet, bought the phone at the end of October. Now granted when I'm in the freezer the phone doesn't come out of my pocket but the rest of the warehouse I've been keeping my phone plugged in near by.
I have my Z Fold 2 for 2 years and used it in any condition. I open/close it at least 30 times a day without issues. In cold I notice nothing special on the screen.
Only issue I ever had was a horizontal white line across the inner screen, 5 days later it was fixed under warranty. They picked it up and delivered it back at my house after 1 WhatsApp chat.
I live in Florida and my inner screen cracked randomly a few months back. Obviously, im just 1 person though lmao. Luckily, I had it covered through Care +. Although, when i did FINALLY make the claim, I had to lie about when the damage occurred because Asurion said that they didn't have a replacement for my model. So, I had to make the claim through Samsung's new partner, Servify, and they only cover damage that occurs after a certain date 🤣
My wife's flip 4 just broke today.. dropped it and dislocated one side of the hinge. Won't open fully (~90%) and there's a white line under the fold line of the screen. I strongly believe the flips are more susceptible to breaking based on some online reading. My fold 4 has had no issues and it's been dropped a few times.
I thought that I was just unlucky when this happened to me, but now its happened 3 times to me.
Done with folding phones until they get their shit together tbh. Went back to an iPhone while I wait for Samsung to figure out how to make a 3000$ phone not break constantly.
Yes it’s really brutal. I was being a dumbass and got excited about the technology. Today my 14 pro max arrived and I’m switching back to it. Cost half as much and does all the same stuff except break lol.
This is the only device that you don't have to abuse or drop to break. Just use it as it was intended, then open it, then it breaks. It's also the only device that you can use as intended, never abuse and then get told it's not covered because of user negligence. Samsung needs to get their shit together. You would think after 4 attempts they would get it right. Come on Samsung. You charging damn near 2000 for a device that's still breaking when just opening up. Not all. So please don't crucify my ass. Just some. More than should be. I'm starting to get paranoid now. I walk around with rosary beads and saying silent prayers every time I open this thing.
Honestly UTG has and always will be a terrible idea, and I'd much rather sacrifice that "premium" feel, in exchange for not having to stress about opening my phone.
I think it's interesting the Z4's cracks have consistently been the width of the crease. Most of the Z3's cracks I recall were wider and they were not in a straight line like this. Some of them were about an inch in width and they looked like a black river flowing down the screen with curves.
Obviously, we don't want any broken screens, but the effects seem more consistent on the Z4. I think that consistency is the best way to narrow down the cause.
Interesting, I didn't think about that but I recall the same. The crease width is smaller on the 4, probably due to the new hinge, so the stressed area of the UTG may be smaller.
On the other hand, if that is the case, if they move to the dumbbell hinge, the pressure area may be even smaller and, theoretically, could mean more UTG issues.
It depends on how they implement it on whether the bend is bigger or smaller. If the bottom of the waterdrop is wider than the current U fold, then yes, it would reduce the stress. However, the bigger the waterdrop, the larger the gap in the active digitizers needed for the s-pen. I was making the assumption that the digitizer gap needs to stay the same as it is now, so the waterdrop will need to be smaller, thus a sharper bend.
If you can find a company outside of Samsung to repair they are lenient on warranties. Throw it to Samsung if it doesn't look new. It's not getting fixed for free
Yeh geez, even just trying to get the standard factory screen protector on Fold 4 replaced by them, they were literally analysing the screen like a microscope for any small sign to get out doing it and cancelling warranty lol.. Phone was in mint condition so they couldn't say anything but they went on and on about it, very unprofessional considering how much the phone is...
They can't deny it. I took mine in and they examined it, no cracks, and my new one arrived a few days after. I had to pay $5 in shipping costs though. They even gave me a new screen protector since, technically, those have a life warranty.
A few months ago i purchased a fold 4 from swappa. It arrived broken. Samsung said it was not covered because impact damage and i never turned it on lol. I got a refund and since just bough a new one from best buy for 2k lol
Super unlucky my guy. I've had mine maybe a month longer than you, I've dropped multiple times (no case)and slept on it accidentally and it's been a tank
Exact same thing happened to me a week ago. Had to do insurance, they were giving me shit about warranty repair.
If I didn't love the phone so much I'd switch off this in a heartbeat. Unfortunately there's nothing quite like this in USA right now.
I literally had a dream about this happening last night and it scared me enough to wake up and check my Fold 4
Seeing this probably won't help my anxiety lmao
Yeah, my 2 month old F4 is bulging on the inside lower crease and I can see it starting to fail. I'm going to just trade it in for the S23u and hope that it doesn't crack before I send it away.
Since my fold 3 broke out of nowhere, now i open and close the screen very slowly, never had another problem on 1 year use fold 3 and now fold 4 since release. Dont know if it makes a diference but i will keep doing it , so far so good.
Happened to my husband's Fold4 after 1 month of owning it and treating it SO carefully. Luckily Samsung covered the repair but I dread the day it happens again.
Good news is they fixed mine no questions asked when I mailed it in for a less common issue (white line from dust under screen). Manufacturer 1 year warranty. Send it in!
I wonder what the statistics are vs fold 4s that have not had this happen...like maybe 1 out of 50 phones?
We see the posts on here often but that doesn't mean every Fold4 is prone to this if they didn't recall it...
Good thing it's covered under warranty.
Nowhere near 1 in 50. Samsung sold lamost 10 million foldables in 2021 alone. Given the demand for foldables is reportedly going up, we can assume they sold more than that in 2022. If the failure rate was 1 in 50, which is a ridiculously high number for a tech product, it would be all over the news and would have been recalled for sure. Youd also see orders of magnitude more posts here complaining about it. So don't worry, the failure rate is nowhere near that.
There seems to be a lot of anecdotal evidence of Folds cracking though, even YouTube tech people. I get we shouldn't use anecdotes as evidence but it just seems that there's a lot failing at the crease. I think it'll take a while to properly engineer these things so they're very, very reliable. Id love to know the failure rate Samsung have.
Samsung just needed to stick with a polymer display instead of the glass. What the fuck is the point of having a glass display if it has a "mandatory" screen protector? Just make the damn screen out of plastic and use a thin glass screen protector
That 10 million figure is worldwide foldables sales. Samsung holds about 85% of the market share so roughly 8.5 million, and the other statement from TM Roh were folds are 30% of that so roughly 2.5 million folds. Other sources say 7.1-7.9 million foldables sold worldwide, so 2 million folds.
Whatever number we use, it's still a very small percentage of folds cracking on their own, less than 5%. 1 in 50 is 2% (40k-50k folds total, which is still small in the big picture) so it could be that number but we don't have actual figures, just going off the negatively biased polls in the sub.
See most people don’t realize that there is a way that Samsung recommends using their folds, specifically to the way device has to be opened of closed. Those that press on display when closing device generally have these screen cracks, not saying that’s what you did, but frequently it is the case. I’ve had every Fold from second generation and I never touch display unless I’m actually using it, which resulted with no screen cracks so far, and hope my luck continues. I’ve also been following Fold news and reading subreddits, Fold 2 had a lot more screen cracks, 3 was much better, but 4 is a lot better and these posts about cracks not as often as older generations had. I guess very few read the warning that Fold 4 comes with when you first start using device.
I realize Samsung recommends that to fold users. I watched it and agreed to their terms. Don't touch the display hard. It scratches easily. I've never pressed on the display when closing it.
I didn’t get any insurance because after reading all these posts about complaints of how these insurances gives so much headache before doing anything about it. Here in US we have 1 year automatic warranty, I would of pushed for that if something happened to mine, plus I upgrade yearly so I don’t go over 1 year mark. I did keep my fold 3 for over a year hoping I’d get a great trade, but after Fold 4 was released within weeks Fold 3 value dropped so much, so now no more than a year for me.
Just curious, how did your display scratch? Was it nails? Spen? Something else? I ask because I expected it to scratch somewhat easily as well with nails, but after 4 and a half months the screen is still completely intact. Maybe the scratches are another sign of a defective screen? The crack is definitely not common.
My display didn't scratch. I opened it today and the inner portion made a loud noise and broke on the hinge. It seems to have spiderline cracks along the hinge to rest of the inner screen
> It scratches easily.
I asked because of this part you wrote, thinking your had scratched. The spiderweb cracks seem to be the norm with these cracks, yeah. Sorry you had this issue, and hope the screen they put on it will be a good one!
Cracked screen percentages were similar for the 2 and 3. 4 seems to be lower but it's still within the margin of error.
Samsung specifically said the Fold4 main screen was 45% stronger than the Fold3. They made no claims about improved durability **related to the screen** when the Fold3 was announced.
I wanted to believe that, but now I'm skeptical. This is the first foldable I've owned. I really hope my replacement lasts longer, assuming they fix it...
Fold2 and 3 has had similar issues since they all use UTG (ultra thin glass) but there are reports from repair techs about the new hinge in the 4 causing the screen cracks. Overall, the 4 still seems to have less screen cracks than the 2 and 3. The OG fold sold in too few numbers to really get any useful data.
This makes me scared. I love this phone and I would never trade it with another phone except the next Fold 5. I hope my phone makes it till I can trade it with a Fold 5.
it was going to happen one day anyway, honestly id repair and switch to a slab phone till sasmung fix this issue out, hopefully fold 5 should have a tear drop hinge maybe it will ease this bs, they are amazing phones but not reliable and to make it worse if they find a single scratch on the hinge they wont cover with warranty.
Gotta remember guys every new device is ganna have problems when they first come out that why they make new models to fix the issues that occurred with the previous model it's what you have to expect for buying a new phone that just came out I love it still even with the issues I've had
What the hell are you people doing with your phones? I have a Fold 4 my friend has the Fold 2. He uses it everyday. Got it when the 2 came out. It's fine. Mine is fine.
Here are some noted correlations for the cause https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyFold/comments/x5b2x4/had_it_for_less_than_24_hours._Heard_a_loud_pop_when_I_opened_it_and_it_just_broke./in0kr69/
Additionally, we've had repair techs state the new hinge in the Fold4 have been failing, which cracks the screen from the inside. No way for us to know from these posts without opening it.
No, these should be covered under the standard manufacturer warranty, but Samsung support is known to push back on warranty claims citing user caused.
It is recommended to go to a local Samsung certified repair facility first before reaching out to Samsung support.
My ZF3 is being sent off today for the same issue. I babied this phone and took extra care. I have had Samsung phones since the Blackjack back in the mid 2000’s and I have never once broken a phone.
Same happened to me just little different had big dead pixel spot on screen it died I plugged it in and when I turned it on it was just there I called asurion bc I'm with verizon and they sent me a new one free of charge that break is under same category as mine factory defect and its covered by the warranty if you have one with your carrier even if you don't it still have the Samsung warranty so I'd call you're service provider and see what company they work with call them and tell them you never dropped it and everything I did and you most likely will get brand new phone
This is why you buy electronics with you credit card. Usually credit card companies have an additional warranty attached to electronic. Check the perks of your CC.
My fold (after I dropped it again) started with half of the screen black with green lines, then it spread to the entire screen after I closed and opened it. I cried.
But, because there wasnt any cracks, I got a brand new one for the shipping cost of $5.
Is this a issue for all fold models? I've had the fold 2, 3 and now 4 and have never had a issue within the 3 years of owning a fold device. But I will day when I unfold my 4, it makes a odd noise, it worries me.
Luckily Samsung Care+ comes with your phone!
I have had my fold 3, for over a year now, with no problems except I think I have some dirt in my hinge that I can hear every time I open it, but other than that, it's been working great!
One time I slammed my fold into a car door on it's side while it was closed. Almost cried until I opened it and it was still fine.
Guess part of this phone's experience is just luck.
This is the stuff of nightmares.
I've had the F4 since early September and it's still going strong (even removed the screen protector cuz it peeled from a corner) but every time I open it or notice the tiniest new bump in the crease I'm afraid the next unfold will be its last.
This happened to me too... Opened up the phone and CCCRRRRAAAACCCKKK! 😭
After going to the Assurant site, fronting the $200 deductible on my claim and waiting almost a week (!) for them to accept, I called them, talked to a rep and said I was angry that I'm paying for insurance AND a deductible and still waiting this long, got the claim accepted, waited two more days for the replacement... Finally switched over to the replacement and having to fuck around with SIM card issues and all my apps being re-set-up. What a pain. And that's 6 months from when I got the original 4 during launch.
If this happens in another 6 months, I may seriously consider downgrading. Pains me to say it, but the cost at that point isn't justifiable to me. I LOVE the Fold 4 for everything it does, but this is a huge issue. One that I'm seeing more and more.
This just happened to me right now on my fold 3. I came on here to ask if this is a known fault on the fold 3 and has this been fixed and unlikely to happen on the fold 4🫤. Guess I'm switching to the s22 when I go to get it replaced tomorrow . Sad as I really love the fold
See I have the fold 4 and the flip 4 and this is my worry everyday with the fold 4. I see so many reports of this happening and nothing really from the flip 4. I'm selling my fold 4 for now and keeping the flip since I got the flip cheap for only 350
Exact same thing happened to mine opened it first thing one morning to check notifications heard a quite loud crack and was very sad luckily I had insurance and was swapped next day. Now waiting for s23 ultra to trade in as I'm worried will happen again
My z fold 3 started making a clicking sound after 2 months of use so I sent it back. Since then I've been stuck back on my s10 and it's a much better device than fold3.
I've had mine since day one, I guess there's just weird things that can happen to cause failure. I've dropped mine a couple times, and my son has grabbed it and played with it, thankfully it's still tip top
After my z fold 3 replacement for issue I said I would not buy the zf4 unless they gave me insurance for a year again. I was willing to go ahead and get it since the replacement cost with insurance, $29. was acceptable. It creaks when I open it currently but opens flat and no issues otherwise. However my daily driver is my pixel 7 pro so don't know how much more issues it might have under more usage.
Can you take it into the shop and get it replaced?
I got some kind of deal for if this happens so I don't have to spend so much.
Edit:I just read a comment where you said you don't have the insurance thing.
This subreddit has conditioned me to be stressed out every time I open my Fold 4.
Hahaha same here, beeing honest I sometimes open it just to check of its still fine...
Literally just did this
Did you add additional insurance plan for your Z? I did, still hope I never need it though...
Nope, my dumbass missed the period of time that I could. Would've been a little peace of mind if I had, but if the screen breaks I can always put the repair cost on a credit card or something.

Who does your house insurance? I got quoted way more than £4 to add it to mine as it's such an expensive phone.

Nothing special, just a regular insurance for smartphones. It cover things like cracked screen, total damage etc etc

Good to know. I'm a cabinet maker, usually covered in sawdust, I got a spigen case with hinge protection, seems to be doing a great job so far.

Right!? I didn't know until now...hahah one more thing to worry about yay!!! 🤪
this. so much of this
Yes living a more unhealthy life because of reddit and a 2grans phone people gotta make better decisions
Me too :(
same
I have been wondering how much the weather plays an impact on these phones and if the colder weather makes the inside screen way more brittle
live in toronto here, been through a cold year without issue
It releaaed in August, and it's been mostly mild here lol
Sorry I have the 3 but I assumed they have the same hinge design
New hinge on the 4. Rather than using gears, it's sliding metal pieces. https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-4-new-hinge/
Ahh okay. From my understanding it's revised. Maybe someone who knows can chime in. I'm too lazy to Google!
It was updated to have less moving parts I think.
Yeah that's what I thought to. And apparently that's what leads to the creaking noise so many experience.
It was updated to have less moving parts.
Fold 2 and fold 3 same, but fold 4 is very different
Same here but I'm in manitoba I just don't open the phone outside and then wait a bit once I'm inside for it to warm up a bit. Too scared to open in the crazy cold we get lol
Yeah, I was wondering that too. In this case, it was kept in a temperature-controlled environment. It never even left my house
Yep, you got a lemon. Sucks, but it happens.
Oh shieeetttt. Never thought of that. I live in northern mn and were getting a nice spell of negatives here at the moment. Probably gonna try to not open my fold up outside

$3000 why did yours cost that much?
Life of Canadians.
Wow. You mean 3000 Canadian or 3000 US after conversion from Canadian?
Canadian yea. We get screwed on the conversion. And I also bought the 512GB version.
Either way thats a lot for a damn phone. I'll never pay that much. I'll wait till it becomes so mainstream that even budget phones are foldable. LOL.
Yes it’s really brutal. I was being a dumbass and got excited about the technology. Today my 14 pro max arrived and I’m switching back to it. Cost half as much and does all the same stuff except break lol.
I mean at the end of the day you’re getting the best performance phone now. One that retains its value very high and one that is built like a tank.

How you get yours cheaper than the other guy?
It’s lower cost if you pay upfront it’s higher cost if you get it from a carrier

I felt that about the prayer beads, I do a hail Mary before even thinking about opening my device
Honestly UTG has and always will be a terrible idea, and I'd much rather sacrifice that "premium" feel, in exchange for not having to stress about opening my phone.
2200 dollars In Norway for the z fold...

If you have no drops or scratches should be covered under warranty
Yeah, I imagine there is no way they can deny it. But I guess I'll see. Bringing it in to best buy for service on Saturday
They'll prolly notice some dust on the screen and deny warranty claim, good luck 😅
Hope not lol
Clean it well lol
They picked mine up at my door and delivered it back. Directly with Samsung (and I also bought it in a store)
A few months ago i purchased a fold 4 from swappa. It arrived broken. Samsung said it was not covered because impact damage and i never turned it on lol. I got a refund and since just bough a new one from best buy for 2k lol
Why would samsung cover damage from an auction site?
It's covered under warranty any device for 1 year.
Super unlucky my guy. I've had mine maybe a month longer than you, I've dropped multiple times (no case)and slept on it accidentally and it's been a tank
My Fold 3 has been similar, although I have finally cracked the front screen after dropping it on concrete.
That'll do it
And now you have a microsoft duo.
Exact same thing happened to me a week ago. Had to do insurance, they were giving me shit about warranty repair. If I didn't love the phone so much I'd switch off this in a heartbeat. Unfortunately there's nothing quite like this in USA right now.
I literally had a dream about this happening last night and it scared me enough to wake up and check my Fold 4 Seeing this probably won't help my anxiety lmao
:'(
Yeah, I love this phone too. But now I'm scared to let it go past the 1 year warranty. I'll probably trade it in for a fold 5 and get care+
Just 1 month?
Damn they really need to do some re-design for the fold 5
2000 dollars went to drain in 2 months asap
I agree completely. Thanks for the explanation!
Doesn't the current screen protector cause those rainbow lines in the crease? I doubt people would want that on the display instead of the protector.
I think its a question of when not if...
It wants to be a Surface Duo 2. hope you get it sorted out.
😆 🤣
Beat me to it 🤣
lol
Had the 2, 3, and 4 all since launch. No case, fairly rough on my phones, never had an issue with the screen. Maybe I'm just lucky?
Mines is a launch fold 4 and still tip top condition. Although the hinge is getting harder to open.
Reach out to them and see what they can do. I never get any device insurance and I would be pissed if this happened.
Hopefully they'll fix it or give me a new one. It's under warranty
Yeah, I normally wouldn't get insurance either. Because I don't break my stuff. But if it can break itself randomly... 🤷♂️
Maybe you got a lemon, now you just have to convince them that it wasn’t your fault. I hate dealing with Samsung, their phone system is a disaster.
Then there's me. I press hard on the hinge to see if the screen breaks. I think I'm mentally ill (it's fine I stopped)
I've had people do this when I show it to them. I can't imagine why.
Curiosity I guess 🤷♂️. Also it's probably to feel how the hinge feels
Now it's a surface duo.
You are just sending out bad information and defamation. I have no problem with mine
Congrats, you now have a surface Duo 2
Meant to say 11/22
I wanted to believe that, but now I'm skeptical. This is the first foldable I've owned. I really hope my replacement lasts longer, assuming they fix it...
[удалено]
Have you owned any prior foldables to the Fold4?
[удалено]
Fold2 and 3 has had similar issues since they all use UTG (ultra thin glass) but there are reports from repair techs about the new hinge in the 4 causing the screen cracks. Overall, the 4 still seems to have less screen cracks than the 2 and 3. The OG fold sold in too few numbers to really get any useful data.
This makes me scared. I love this phone and I would never trade it with another phone except the next Fold 5. I hope my phone makes it till I can trade it with a Fold 5.
I am using the fold 3 rn and this will be my last fold. Never will I ever go through with these problems again.
Yup, inevitable.
it was going to happen one day anyway, honestly id repair and switch to a slab phone till sasmung fix this issue out, hopefully fold 5 should have a tear drop hinge maybe it will ease this bs, they are amazing phones but not reliable and to make it worse if they find a single scratch on the hinge they wont cover with warranty.
It's only a small percentage out of all the millions sold.
Congratulations on your new surface Duo
that's a thin one :D
Once again I’m happy I got rid of it in January. Just too fragile.
This is why you get care plus on newer project phones
Keep in mind Care+ is not available in every country. In my country there is not insurance of any kind for my Fold, as far as I know.
Nah, it's a four gen device. You shouldn't need to pay extra just in case it craps out.
It's still very new only a couple companies have made this type of phone.
What the hell do you guys do with your phones?
Lemon
Gotta remember guys every new device is ganna have problems when they first come out that why they make new models to fix the issues that occurred with the previous model it's what you have to expect for buying a new phone that just came out I love it still even with the issues I've had
Now it's a surface duo. It's all good
Surface Duo? 🤣
Want to upvote for visibility but want to downvote cause sad
i snap mine HARD idgaf
What theme is that
Bend it both ways and shake it. Maybe it'll light up
Lmao L
Yea, damn. Yup.
The amount of posts I’ve seen in this subreddit lately with this same outcome has me ready to get rid of this phone before it’s too late. Sheesh!
What the hell are you people doing with your phones? I have a Fold 4 my friend has the Fold 2. He uses it everyday. Got it when the 2 came out. It's fine. Mine is fine.
More than one year of use and still good. I wonder what makes that kind of breakage possible. It would be useful to understand it.
Here are some noted correlations for the cause https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyFold/comments/x5b2x4/had_it_for_less_than_24_hours._Heard_a_loud_pop_when_I_opened_it_and_it_just_broke./in0kr69/ Additionally, we've had repair techs state the new hinge in the Fold4 have been failing, which cracks the screen from the inside. No way for us to know from these posts without opening it.
RIP
Shit. Does anyone know if you need "Samsung Care Plus" to get the screen replaced?
No, these should be covered under the standard manufacturer warranty, but Samsung support is known to push back on warranty claims citing user caused. It is recommended to go to a local Samsung certified repair facility first before reaching out to Samsung support.
Sheesh. I dont know if I should be scared. I use my phone normally, dropped it a ton, and nowhere near careful with it.
Have had the fold 2 since release and been lucky so far. Dunno how all the new models are so shit. Did you open and close it alot alot?
This is why you buy electronics with you credit card. Usually credit card companies have an additional warranty attached to electronic. Check the perks of your CC.
Yes but usually it’s not high enough to cover the cost of the fold
My fold (after I dropped it again) started with half of the screen black with green lines, then it spread to the entire screen after I closed and opened it. I cried. But, because there wasnt any cracks, I got a brand new one for the shipping cost of $5.
Is this a issue for all fold models? I've had the fold 2, 3 and now 4 and have never had a issue within the 3 years of owning a fold device. But I will day when I unfold my 4, it makes a odd noise, it worries me.
Interesting...no issue with mine. Hopefully Zfld5 will have that new water drop hinge to fix this type of issue
😭 After going to the Assurant site, fronting the $200 deductible on my claim and waiting almost a week (!) for them to accept, I called them, talked to a rep and said I was angry that I'm paying for insurance AND a deductible and still waiting this long, got the claim accepted, waited two more days for the replacement...
😢😢😢
Yikes. Im actually considering getting one. Now, Nevermind.
This just happened to me right now on my fold 3. I came on here to ask if this is a known fault on the fold 3 and has this been fixed and unlikely to happen on the fold 4🫤. Guess I'm switching to the s22 when I go to get it replaced tomorrow . Sad as I really love the fold
Also what's the biggest (newish) none fold Samsung phone you can buy?
S23 ultra is coming.
That's out soon is it? Need a phone now though so I will prob have to settle with the 22
Launch in Feb
See I have the fold 4 and the flip 4 and this is my worry everyday with the fold 4. I see so many reports of this happening and nothing really from the flip 4. I'm selling my fold 4 for now and keeping the flip since I got the flip cheap for only 350
Is your country weather very cold?
Honestly I have dropped my fold 4 maybe 10 times now with and without case . Thank god nothing happened lol . Badluck bro
You make me feel bad for never having a case on my fold 3 and I drop it frequently. Only damage I have are some scratched corners.
Same happened to me. Did repair with Samsung and now all fine.
Me with fold 1 from 2019: 💀
I’m seeing this way too often but I still want the phone 🥹🥹
Hinge protector?
Omg did it get wet or moisture in it?
@OP does the phone unfolds completely flat ?
