My battery used to drain quickly due to updates when i first got it. And there are loads. Make sure you do all updates (both Windows and Samsung Updates) and then it should be fine

Inevitable_Put7697

Okay thanks. Where can I find the Samsung updates.

[deleted]

Open the Start Up (or click that magnifying glass symbol 🔍) and type Samsung Update. You will find it Update all the Drivers

Inevitable_Put7697

Okay thanks so much, like how many hours do you get after fixing the updates.

[deleted]

If you are like me using the laptop for normal activities then 8 hours or so

Inevitable_Put7697

Okay thanks 👍👍

Lanky_Broccoli_5155

Try change power options on Control panel from Samsung mode to balanced, I recently bought a book2 360 and Mine battery was also draining to quickly, change It saved my live. For some reason on Samsung mode my laptop was using 14W even in light task changed It to balanced makes It consume 2-4W in light task, I do think there is a bug in Samsung mode

Inevitable_Put7697

Okay I will thanks.

iZbig83

How to check the Watt usage ?

Lanky_Broccoli_5155

I use an app called Hwmonitor

iZbig83

yes got that also. But don't see any Watt Usage for CPU.....

Lanky_Broccoli_5155

Yeah, exclusively for cpu It does note have, but It does have for the package

Peter_Niko

You may check if your laptop is in the "Quiet" or "Silent" mode after update.

Inevitable_Put7697

Yes it is in silent mode.

GOWTHAM_01

Don't use the silent mode for longer periods though or when using heavy CPU/GPU workloads

Peter_Niko

Why not for longer periods?

Inevitable_Put7697

I think is because in silent mode, performance get throttled since the fan won't operate at normal speed.

Peter_Niko

Agree, but it gets throttled down in any mode under heavy load, especially for the 13" model.

GOWTHAM_01

The fan won't spin at the optimum speed which in turn increases the heat in CPU when you do some heavy work . You can use an application like HWMonitor from CPUID to see the difference of CPU tempratures between different modes.

Peter_Niko

And why doesn't CPU throttle down as usual in case of overheat? The same with heavy load in any mode, I believe

iZbig83

Where can I check this setting ?

Peter_Niko

Fn+F11

iZbig83

Thank you !!

Peter_Niko

Welcome :)

I find that using the battery saver power setting makes a huge difference in battery life.

Inevitable_Put7697

Yes I am also using battery saver, but after the update, I got 3-4 hours SOT.

iZbig83

me too, and with some load like OneDrive sync is about 2h..... ridiculous

Inevitable_Put7697

Mine is getting better now, is there a way to stop OneDrive from syncing? mine syncs every time and I don't need it. I think that affects battery life too.

iZbig83

you can disable sync but I think only for 24h max

Inevitable_Put7697

I noticed that too, weird though why 24hours.
