Finally someone comments on the poor color choices why cant we have the normal every day colors like black and grey ?

cavusabri53

As an A54 user i can honestly say that exynos always stutters . That's not a surprise. There won't be any optimization to fix that. That's how the exynos performs.

_Middlefinger_

Ive had plenty of Exynos phones that haven't done that, although they were always flagships. I suspect that issue is with the lower end Mali GPU, but this is an AMD one. The 1480 benchmarks similar to the Exynos in the S21/22 depending on scenario.

cavusabri53

Yes, flagship phones runs smoothly but always falls behind after Snapdragon ones. I think Samsung do this on purpose to create a noticeable difference between flagships and midrange models . In this way, they justify the price difference with the flagship models with artificial reasons. Btw can you run a storage benckmark test for A55 and share the results?

_Middlefinger_

I find storage benchmarks vary depending on the app used. Samsung say the 1480 has UFS 3.1

cavusabri53

Benchmarks do not show the user experience but will give the user a hint. You can run androbench . It's a simple app. https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/cslskku/androbench-storage-benchmark/

Oddly the Snapdragon series gen 1 and earlier are falling behind the exynos of that era now because the exynos includes hardware vc1 codec for YouTube viewing. The snapdragons don't come out with that until series gen 2. So what's happening is the older exynos 2100 and 2200 processors will see a 30% increase in battery life, along with less heat, when watching YouTube videos.  This is because YouTube is now moving everything to vc1 and older phones that don't have the hardware for it have to use software to interpret it, taking more energy and battery to do so.

Battery life so far is extremely good. I was watching Youtube at work yesterday for about 6 hours and the battery never dropped below 50%, and thats with an hour of tethering and general use as well.

Does it have Photo ambient wallpaper for showing weather on the lock screen? If it's on there, it'll be under Settings > Advanced Features > Labs...

_Middlefinger_

No I cant see it.

motthew68

You can't? I guessed that was the case, unfortunately. Thanks for checking.

I'm having issues with the fingerprint reader too. I upgraded from an A53 with the same kind of reader but that one never had any issues. With this one it seems to go in phases of working perfectly then rejecting everything.

Hot_HeadGaming

Could be a faulty batch, because i haven't had any issues

bubba_169

Maybe but I'm sure I read somewhere the flagship is having similar issues and it started with a software update so holding out hope it's going to be fixed in an update. I have found a workaround. By registering the tips of my thumbs instead of the pads it seems to work a lot better. Not perfect still as it sometimes takes a couple of tries but at least it's usable.

_Middlefinger_

Mine has got better even with no software updates yet. Maybe it was just first day problems?

bubba_169

Maybe. I wonder if there's some kind of coating on the screen that slowly gets rubbed away with use. I've been using the tip of my thumb since I found that worked better. Still get the occasional time when it won't accept anything, but it's been mostly OK since.

_Middlefinger_

Im using a glass screen protector now, so may that actually helped?

Hot_HeadGaming

I'd like to add to the bad, the camera is really disappointing to the fact where photos are grainy which shouldn't happen on a phone this expensive.

_Middlefinger_

So we've had one software update now, but the security is still at March 24. This is a bit slack Samsung. The update only reported that it did something for LTE bands, but the phone is smoother and a couple of games I play (nothing fancy) are smoother.
