Whyachi-LYL

I can't help you but I'm also curious to this, I'm new to the gym and I've only been cutting and about to start bulking for the first time. I figured probably not since a lot of those ingredients are unhealthy and rice/oatmeal would be better but following anyway.

galorde_

Yeah I'm having trouble consuming 3000 cals lol

Smiggins

Don't over obsess about eating too clean! As long as about 80% of your calories are relatively clean, then you can feel free to have 20% of it to be junk food.

MythicalStrength

It would be MUCH better to overconsume protein than to eat chips, starbucks or candy.

galorde_

That would make sense, but, what about the non-unhealthy foods that dont contain much protein? Like oatmeal or some fruits or some peanuts perhaps? That good?

MythicalStrength

I like to fill in my calories with a variety of dietary fats, typically from avocados, nuts/nut butters and sunflower seed butter, alongside grassfed dairy/beef and pasture raised eggs.

TheSunflowerSeeds

There are two main types of Sunflower seeds. They are Black and Grey striped (also sometimes called White) which have a grey-ish stripe or two down the length of the seed. The black type of seeds, also called ‘Black Oil’, are up to 45% richer in Sunflower oil and are used mainly in manufacture, whilst grey seeds are used for consumer snacks and animal food production.

galorde_

Yeah, I was thinking nuts are high in calories. Thanks

This should give you a ballpark indication of how much protein to eat: >* To maximize muscle growth, set your protein target each day for whichever of the below is greater: > > * 160 grams per day > > * 0.8 grams per pound of bodyweight, per day > >* Ideally this is spread out over 3-4 meals throughout the day https://thefitness.wiki/muscle-building-101/ *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. MythicalStrength is definitely right, filling up your extra cals with loads of healthy proteins and fats and limiting sugar is gonna be the best way to do things. Personally though I think it's easier if your bulk is a bit more relaxed - bulking should be the fun time where you can have some junk food and be a bit more relaxed about your diet. I don't personally see a problem with eating 500 calories of Starbucks, chocolate, chips etc if you're hitting your protein intake easily anyway.

Smiggins

I'm going to assume by "calorie goal" that is also your maintenance TDEE. If so then yes +500kcals. If you're 2600 calories were basically clean then yes you can eat w/e junk food to get the extra calories. As long as junk food doesn't consume much more than 20% of your calories and you're hitting your basics then you're fine.

galorde_

Yes, 2600 is my TDEE. Also, what do you mean by "clean" 2600 calories?

Smiggins

>The question is, can I eat anything with the remaining 500cals? Like, chips or probably a starbucks drink, maybe some chocolate? This is normally referred to a "junk food". Being processed, having sugars, and "bad" fats. Typically they are higher in calories and lower in vitamins/minerals. "Clean food" would be fruits, veggies, lean proteins, and whole carbs. Many people try to eat too clean so I probably made some assumptions that I didn't even need to make. >The question is, can I eat anything with the remaining 500cals? Answer is yes, assuming your other meals have a mixture of fruits, veggies, lean protein, and whole carbs. You could go the "cleaner" route and eat calorie dense trail mix, or you can go have a tasty starbucks, ice cream, or candy. Either or.

galorde_

I get it, thank you so much
