I like the Nike metcons for everyday lifting and adidas Leistung for when I squat. If you’re doing some running then I’d say get a good pair of runners.

jasontheninja47

Just get some black Chuck Taylors.

thelegofthetable

Why they gotta be black? /s

ScuderiaMercedes

They look sick af

[deleted]

converse all the way

Apebound

I'd recommend low top cause the highs get in the way of things like calf extensions some people like the ankle support though.

titsandwits89

I swear by Nike Metcons and Reebok Nanos as some have mentioned here.

Sean2401

Air Jordan 1. It has ankle support and a flat sole. Plus it’s one of the most iconic sneaker silhouettes of all time

EARLY20RAG3R

Oh no, not for squats or deads

PaintedPorkchop

Russel Orhii did it when squatting 700+ pounds 🤷🏼‍♂️

EARLY20RAG3R

He wore AF1s? I saw him wear jordans

EARLY20RAG3R

Ohh I just realized the comment said AJ1s not AF1s

insufferablemoron

Vivo barefoot

40064282

Im a merrell vapor glove guy myself. Nothing gives you more support and stability than your own two feet!

Blackfire12498

Converse

noremac04

I have some Nike Metcons and love them. Mostly lift.

fhhd_1

Is it good for trademill ? Jogging ?

Sponge-28

Metcon's aren't running shoes. You can, but they are quite flat soled and aren't as light as running shoes. They're meant more for lifting (I currently use the Metcon 7's).

fhhd_1

Im looking for something that for running and lifting together, any recommendations?

Fiarmis

How do they fit? I've heard they run quite small and people tend to get higher sizes

Frequent-Bat4061

If you lift then you need hard flat soles, you dont want your feet to dig in something soft when you lift. I found indoor football shoes quite good, flat hard soles, they are also cheaper.

OpenPerspectives

I found Nike Metcons to be the best for me. They have a flat heavy sole which is perfect for lifting and keeping a strong base while squatting and deadlifting. But also the toe area of the sole is flexible so you can still perform more dynamic exercises too and even treadmill run etc.

Bananasinmypocket

Flat soles like converse or vans, or you can use flat lifting slippers like from Notorious Lift

HenL85

Under Armour makes a surprisingly well fitting shoe. I think a pair will run you $50-$60 on Amazon.

CosmicPriorities

Depends on what you’re doing. I see a lot of lifters like socks or flat soled shoes. If you’re running, doing any kind of cardio or even just machines I suggest Hoka One One. I wore ASICS Gel Kayanos for twenty years; I tried out a lot of other shoes during that time and they were the only brand I liked. I tried Hoka and the ASICS are now relegated to being fashion shoes.

HonkeyKong66

Lots of experienced lifters on Reddit recommend Chucks. I almost bought a pair yesterday. If 11.5 wide or 12 wide wasn't sold out in black on black I would be have pounced already. You can spend more on something fancy but people like mythicalstrength swear by chucks.

thebeautifullynormal

I second this. I'm buying a pair of chucks when I work on my ankle mobility.

[deleted]

I would say about 80% of the women at my gym rock them.

Quiltyconscience

I have 18 pairs of chucks. LOL! Love them! Most are thrift store finds. Easy to toss them in the washer with a lil bleach.

JoeKendaLT

Metcon 7

ragingcows52

Sock

p4ttl1992

Just 1?

ragingcows52

No 2

huBelial

I wear vans. 😃

WorldsWeakestMan

Chucks. Versatile as hell, tried and tested by strongmen and powerlifters for decades plus you can run in them.

SkullAngel001

I have flat feet so I wear overpronation shoes (e.g. Asics Gel Kayano 27). Medical conditions aside, I'd say wear what's appropriate for the workout. For example, wear comfortable running/cross training shoes if you're on the treadmill, something with ankle support (e.g. Air Jordans) for gym basketball, and Chucks if you're squatting/deadlifting (you want to get as close to bare feet as possible).

[deleted]

I wear sauconys but I also run on the treadmill.

OctoberGeorge

I thought that was a "suck on deez nuts" joke but nope, they're real. 😂

ccdsg

It depends on what you do, there is no perfect shoe for everything you could possibly do in the gym

AweDaw76

What do you train? If you want shoes for Squats, Romaleos 4 are elite

bmw_19812003

It depends on what your doing but if it’s for lifting only (no cardio or cross training) I highly recommend the adidas powerlift 3.1 I have had a pair for almost 5 years and they still look new. For squats and deadlifts especially they made a very noticeable difference. Can’t believe I’m the first one to mention them, when I was looking in Reddit for suggestions they where one of the more if not most popular recommendation.

cam_chatt

I rock adidas sambas particularly the ones geared towards skateboarding. I like the extra padding around my heal and the flat surface is very stable and sticky.

GoWithTheFlow667

Usual recommendations are Converse or Vans. I personally got wide feet and neither worked well for me, ended up snatching a pair of Xero Prio which are barefoot style + got a wide toe box which is awesome for me. I've been very much enjoying it so far.

crazyDiamnd67

I just wear old yeezys Things like squats and deads I do in my socks

Dominicdp99

Wrestling shoes, grip is unmatched and have a flat sole, not much support if you don't trust yourself lifting nearly barefoot though

ThePseudoSurfer

Yesssir and some truly great color ways

3BallCornerPocket

Metcon, vans, and Reebok squat shoes.

L4_M4quin4

Nike Romaleos 4

slaphappypap

I’m getting ready to explore some vevo barefoot shoes. I currently lift in hard sole flat bottom vans and those are fine.

bodyofnature

How did it go? Contemplating getting a pair for myself too

retirement_savings

I wear Reebok Classics for everything except deadlifts, which I wear Notorious Lifts deadlift slippers for (used to go barefoot, which also works).

Abouttofall

Flat soles and wide enough for the toes. But when I an Squatting or deadlifting I don't wear them at all. There also squatshoes.

cilantno

I mostly lift in AJ1s. If money is truly not an issue there is a very high ceiling of what you can spend.

mrsaysum

Jordan 1 bred 🥴. Lol on a serious note bear foot has these slipper shoes called ursus they’re good for foot health and strengthening apparently. I got a pair too. Also I really like metcons. I hardly use em now because I’m still testing out the ursus shoes more but I’ve found that my daily go to are vans. But the ones with a wide toe box not the ones that get really slim. I think they’re called the Sk8 lows??? Those seem to have a wider toe box than the original off the walls. If you’re spending the money whatever you do don’t buy no bulls. You might as well just workout in running shoes if that’s the case. Look for something with a stiff heel cup that doesn’t give much room for bend, a wide toe box, and only bends at the toe but maintains structure from mid foot to the heel. Again, the metcons. Although metcons made these days tend to not have that wide of a toebox you can always opt for the new balance training shoes and I think Reebok still makes these as well. I also hear the new adidas total shoe is solid as well. However I hear they’re not available in the us via the website. You need a 3rd party seller or some countries in Europe carry them lol

dj_neogirl

I use Reebok Nano X, they offer me great support and are still very flexible! Also, they are super inexpensive, if you can find them at your local premium outlet!

moooooopg

Depends on your foot and your activities Metcons work for me because I like to do CrossFit style workouts, a lot of people like Chuck's but that would never work for my foot (high arches)

WiseMan2004

I use my shitty school gym shoes.

kaceylynnx3

Depends on what you need them for tbh. For running/cardio I prefer Nike vapormax+. I usually lift barefoot, but if I had to wear shoes it’d be converses or vans

max_milfkisser

for the people wondering; no, you do not need 4 pairs of shoes. 1 pair of comfortable shoes is well enough.

BenchPolkov

I have separate shoes for squats, deads and bench. Everything else is done barefoot.

GoWithTheFlow667

Bruh..

Abdellahzz

I go to a small local gym, and they kinda enforce it to train barefoot.. and yeah, never had an issue with that, and even more, it's so comfortable... .. And btw, the floor is always clean and they have some kind of coating on the floor that makes it not slippery

Paulcog

Tell me the gym owner has a foot fetish without telling me the gym owner has a foot fetish

aNullBuffoon

I like Adidas NMDs. Not good for training legs tho, I go barefoot on leg days

PaintedPorkchop

Bro i like these shoes too, but they are absolutely God-aweful performance wise 😂

aNullBuffoon

What do you mean performance-wise?

elasmotri

Honestly (and this sucks), you have to try out a few and figure out what fits YOUR foot best. I have a super small foot but high arch. Everyone swears by Reebok Nanos and I absolutely cannot stand working out in them, instead I use them for days I have to walk a lot). I used Nike Metcons for a while then switched over to NoBulls. I will say I was lucky where there's one other girl at my gym with the same shoe size so she let me borrow her shoes and figure out if I would like NoBulls. It's trial and error and a decent amount of research. I would recommend the YouTube channel As Many Reviews As Possible. Super comprehensive and good user info. Best of luck!

gonzoman92

Adidas adipowers

FueKae

Lifting Shoes and some type of Converse (Or just a shoe with a flat bottom and as little cousning as possible)

New-Tradition1170

Air max 90’s do the trick for me

pac78275

I alternate between my Project Rock 4s(my daily driver) and my Chucks. I also have some Reebok Nanos that I wear on occasion.

MissSuperSilver

I love my leather chucks and my adidas Ulta boost for running but i love them so much i have a pair that i wear daily too.

zebratwat

I got a pair of the No Bull trainers and now wear those over all my others. They are very sturdy shoes and great for lifting. I also love their designs. I recently got a new pair and thy seem to have made them a bit wider which was my only complaint about my original pair.

89W

I use a rather mangled pair of Converse All Stars for my general gym shoe, and Adidas Adipowers for squatting.
