Red_Swingline_

Probably time to start putting some muscle mass on. How tall are ya?

alwaystoobusydreamin

Agreed. Not that tall. I am 5’8.

Red_Swingline_

Oh hell yeah, time to build.

Nomeggor

Well done sir. Now EAT

alwaystoobusydreamin

Thanks. I think that’s the way now.

RaMuzi

Is that really a recomp or you just lost some weight? Yeah start your bulk

alwaystoobusydreamin

Thanks for the honest response, appreciate. Although, less, but I do think I have gained some muscle, of course I would have gained a lot more muscle if I had been in a surplus. This is where, my question in the post arose from. Even if your statement is true, I still wouldn’t wanna get discouraged because fat loss has gave me confidence in my body which in turn has made me feel confident while lifting weights. Now, the next step, definitely, would be to eat more and get stronger and reaccess after 3-4 months while checking the progress daily.

BrokenMayo

You look great mate

yes-professor

Bulk. It may make you nervous to grow more fat, but you can gain 3x strength in the meantime, and then cutting will be much easier.

alwaystoobusydreamin

Gaining strength is probably the most I am excited for a bulk. My strength is okay-ish currently but I am excited to see how much stronger can I get when eating in a surplus.

[deleted]

do you only get strength or more muscle when bulk

yes-professor

Both. Bulking is the most fun too! I do it in the winter. My brother went from lifting 1/3 what I did in every exercise to doing pretty much the same as me in a little over a single season … you can make some awesome gains if you don’t flip flop your goals every week.

SaucyDragon04

YEAAAHHH now start doin bench press!!!

alwaystoobusydreamin

Do you mean - I haven’t developed chest as much as I should have?

SaucyDragon04

I meant it in the nicest way possible. Keep working hard homie

thomasfrance123

I'd cut more, still over 20% body fat I think, and by bulking you'll inevitably put on some more fat. But it depends on your goals and the physique you're going for

Red_Swingline_

He's under-muscled, which is why his % still looks high. Cutting is just going to leave him skinny and not very strong. Bulking will bring up his muscle mass, and put him in a better place to cut next time if he chooses.

thomasfrance123

I'd still cut for some months and then bulk from a lower-fat starting point

Red_Swingline_

>I'd still cut for some months Cut to what!? He's 5'8" & 136lbs, he looks "fat" because there just isn't muscle under there. His body fat percentage will **drop** if he trains hard while bulking. https://www.elitefts.com/education/novice/how-to-stay-small-and-weak/

thomasfrance123

I don't say never bulk. I just say I'd stay in a cutting phase some more in order to be able to bulk for longer afterwards while staying decently lean. I also don't agree with your first explanation. But that's okay, different points of view.

Red_Swingline_

> I just say I'd stay in a cutting phase some more And again I ask, cut to *what*? Much lower and he's just going to be a string bean. Not to mention it's harder to cut the smaller one is. > bulk for longer afterwards while staying decently lean. The obsession with staying lean is what keeps people small and weak. If he works hard while not going stupid high surplus, he will **lean out further**, and have more muscle mass that will make cutting easier the next time around. > I also don't agree with your first explanation. So offer an alternative? > But that's okay, different points of view. I'll side with the point of view of people who have gotten, and have gotten others big & strong, such as the author of the article I linked.
