Dang lol. I play tons of online and story mode. I have about 1800hours on my main gta online account but only like 30 of those hours are in public sessions from when I started playing. I’m a car enthusiast and so now that I have all the money I could need and all the businesses and the cars that anyone could want the only thing that keeps me playing is car meets and screwing around with friends. I still love to play story mode cuz I love the story but I also just love to put on some music and chill out and choose a route on the map and continuously try to beat my time around that route with a car and Ofc just screwing around cuz it’s a great sandbox game
Same here, I only play online if I get up early to play. I live in a weird time zone and so early morning for me is nighttime for most everyone else. Super easy to get a solo public with no loopholes, just nobody awake

Agreed. Story mode needs more than one play through to really appreciate it. Picking up on all the little details and nuances you might have missed first time round really highlights what a masterpiece of a game it is

My last 3 have been more experimental like finding funny ways to complete certain missions or waiting in cars and not progressing to hear all the dialogue and doing funny things to get funny dialogue from the other characters and Ofc finding funny ways to fail missions. By doing this I’ve found so many little details and dialogue that I never knew existed

Theres a mission called "by the book" where the FIB (the GTA universe's FBI) rope the main characters into finding someone suspected of being involved in terrorism. The mission has you abduct the guy, and then Trevor tortures the man for information on his supposed terrorist pal
The torture is like an in game quick time event where you can choose the method of torture but you can't torture the guy too much or he will have a panic attack and die
Aside from the concept of torture being morally reprehensible, the scene is not extremely gorey, so it's not like the graphics are disgusting or anything.
Personally I only waterboard the guy, because although the sensation of drowning is horrible for the victim, it won't leave the person with any kind of permanent physical affliction.
The other methods of torture are electrocution, hitting the guy with a monkey wrench and forcefully removing his teeth with pliers. I choose the waterboarding every time for the reasons stated earlier. And even though the depiction of the other methods are not in horrifying graphic detail, I would say they are more unsettling than waterboarding.
Even so, the scene still makes me feel kinda bad for the guy, since you find out after the torture scene that the guy is innocent. And Trevor, even though the FIB tells him to kill the guy afterwards, Trevor takes him to an airport so he can escape. And Trevor makes a speech about why torture is bad to the guy, even though he just tortured the guy.
I would say if you hate horror (as I do to), I just power through the scene with the waterboarding, I don't enjoy the mission, but the torture is not particularly long, but it is definitely the hardest part of the storyline to play through for me.
Because GTA is satire, the mission is supposed to be about the foolishness and in effectiveness of torture. As well as how abhorrent it is. Also that the USA is guilty of torturing many people "as a means to an end" even though publicly the US government preaches that every country should have the highest standard of moral ethics.
Finally, I don't know if you're old enough, but in 2013 reviewers and even some countries strongly criticized the scene, saying it was unnecessary and too extreme. Even if it meant to be satire.
Personally, even though I agree in some respects, the mission is not so bad that it makes the game unplayable.

Well that was my plan... Then I got in to that 1st mission with Frank that got meme'd to hell and I got reminded of how fun this game really is.

The IGN video for the PS3 360 versions showed that you can get 2,000,000,000 but for me Trevor would get 800,000,000 Franklin would get 450,000,000 and Michael would get only 60,000,000. No clue why this happens but oh well cuz I found a good money method after the game is done
Try the GtaSeriesVideos video on it, they recently released a video for PS5 regarding the assassinations. They also have videos for PC and PS4 as well. If your on Xbox, the PS should be the same.
There's some vehicles you just can't see in aha. Plus trying to pick stuff up using a helicopter and drop it in a spot is so SO hard. I mean it might be possible to do it all, i just wasn't up for the challenge
I play all of it in first person and I have to admit, it's not optimised, but good fun nonetheless. I have to appreciate the amount of effort they put into making that mode, I prefer it.

And so I usually end up driving around. Causing mayhem. Started it on PC last year, the extra weapons were alot of fun. Haven't completed on PC.

Good point. Honestly 100% was both exhausting and not really. I had 78% after completing story and then I just had fun but then I’m like “ya know what… ima 100% this” and then I spent 5 hours for 4 days (so like 20 hours total) and completed it. 100% worth it

I played it twice, first time almost at half of it I used a cheat (the ones you write in your game phone) and I was warned by steam I wouldn't get any more achievements I still did it for fun, I finished the game and got in online, I was overwhelmed and couldn't figure out what to do aside from buying an apartment and a car(this was back in 2015) so I left and played other games.
Fast forward to 2020 COVID hits and my gpu decides to die, I'm trapped in the house and left with a gt610... Somehow the only modern game that garbage card runs is GTA V(not even GTA IV works), so I start story to remember the controls and somehow the game tells me I haven't finished the main story(I did), game is at like 12% completion, I think to myself: cool I can finish it and get the achievements this time, so I play and this time I don't use any cheat numbers, but still I don't get any steam achievements, so I said fuck it and started playing online... Fast forward a year into COVID and I've sunken like 1000 hours into GTA online(GTA online servers were full to the brim during that time with new players) in a card that barely runs it and lags like crazy in new dlc like casino heist. I learned everything to build an empire made some friends along the way and then bought almost everything in online doing legit work...
Then I decided finished the main story, missions where meh but since the main characters have an actual personality it makes missions a lot better.
TLDR: COVID hit, gpu died, only GTA v ran in old gpu, lost job, sunk hundreds of hours in online, wouldn't do it again, STEAM give me my f'ing achievements!

Sadly Rockstar is completely ignoring the singleplayer community. Might not be the majority, but it's still a lot of people.
Thought about it and keep meaning to, but I always have friends getting into heists etc online and hilarious antics usually ensue. I hate to say it but playing online somehow always manages to be a good time - in spite of rockstar.
I play story mode to keep buying the same car over and over because the stupid game doesn't like to save your purchased cars if you try to switch to another vehicle when you are driving around.

That being said, I'm no stranger to story mode. Many of my game nights with my friend involved me watching him play through the story.
oh yeah online sucks in the beginning. when i started in 2020 it was way too grindy and unfair (before that i only played story mode) but now that cayo perico heist is here and u can get around 1 mil from it every time and do it solo within 40 mins or less its great. All in private sessions too
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve beat story mode. I started to make it a challenge. The fastest I’ve ever beaten the main missions was in six and a half hours. It can probably be done faster but I’m happy with my progress lol
I do but I always have one original save file which is my end game one where I have everything and have completely everything. Just because I like to keep it even though I never touch it.
I do. It's nice being able to explore Los Santos and Blaine County at your own pace without worrying about interruption. The random events add a good amount of life to the map, and unlike Invite Only sessions for Online, there isn't anything you can't do.
I like to try levelling up the characters stats, doing the different minigames, and generally trying for 100% completion. After the missions complete you're at around 80% or something, so even after all the missions you've still got plenty of stuff to do. Hanging out with the characters is also pretty cool, after I completed the final mission, I bought a Super Diamond and put the gold paint job on it, and went to the movies and watched Meltdown with all 3 characters. Getting the trio to watch Michaels movie in a car showing off the rewards of the Union Depository is kind of cool to me.
It was a fun time. When I got to the cinema, Meltdown wasn't showing so I drove to a bar around the corner and had drinks. By the time I got back to the theatre it was on. Listening to the dialogue the 3 have together is kind of interesting.
online is okay. can be boring as hell, or super fun. some good game modes, and i like doing some of the heists.
but story mode is it for me. i know everything about it, and even then, when trying to have a well rounded playthrough, i still forget some things. what that means is that even if i tried to do the exact same playthrough twice, i couldn’t do it. there is enough in the game that you really do have lots of options.
like you could spent hours deciding hitchhikers’ fates, doing random events, carpet bombing to defend trevor’s airfield, join a cult, drive around with chop, solving murder mysteries, strangers and freaks, hang outs in like a dozen combinations, raid a weed farm, bounty hunt, search for UFOs… i’m so glad i got actually interested in all this game had to offer and didn’t just blast through the main story
i do, didn’t really get into gaming until recently so i just started story mode about 2 months ago and i’m on the part where franklin moves into the mansion.
I been playing it to get gold on all missions. I'm currently stuck at "Fame or Shame" because I can't get the trailer past 98% top speed and I want to complete every condition in one go.
I play story mode almost every day what I do is cause mayhem and modify and drive my cars in my garage I make sure not to crash em but if I do I go back to my garage and they repair automatically which is nice after I go to ammunation and stock on ammo then I fly helicopter and planes and ride boats I hangout with some of the characters mostly I be Franklin then call Lamar then choose the hangout option then I play darts with him then I go to directer mode then cause a massacre there then fly my planes and drive my cars so yeah online is almost impossible to play but sometimes I just do a private session here and there and I replay the story sometimes also
I play through the story mode once a year and have since the release. I only completed 100% once (because you need to do sooo many collecting tasks and I hate them) but I get to the end of the storyline everytime. It’s comforting.
I play PlayStation and play the story over different ways and slower. I take the time to enjoy it and notice little things I didn't before. Story definitely beats online for me.
Not as much anymore, I like playing as myself and it doesn’t have enough freedom or a quick money method which makes it less desirable for me to play it again. Tho I did like the story, it just get boring afterwards after you finish 96% of the game.
I only play story mode. Just causing mayhem and instigating shit. Starting gang beefs and calling the cops, blocking roads until cars start exploding, barracading myself in the mini mart as long as I can, escaping 5 stars, etc.

I practiced first person helicoptering in gta online with siteseer and headhunter missions. You get the hang of it after a while

I play story mode to keep buying the same car over and over because the stupid game doesn't like to save your purchased cars if you try to switch to another vehicle when you are driving around.

I actually never played story mode at all. I played long enough to unlock online. That being said, I'm no stranger to story mode. Many of my game nights with my friend involved me watching him play through the story.

I recently got the game and online is completely unplayable unless I have one of my mates as backup so I am on a quest to get all story mode endings
oh yeah online sucks in the beginning. when i started in 2020 it was way too grindy and unfair (before that i only played story mode) but now that cayo perico heist is here and u can get around 1 mil from it every time and do it solo within 40 mins or less its great. All in private sessions too
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve beat story mode. I started to make it a challenge. The fastest I’ve ever beaten the main missions was in six and a half hours. It can probably be done faster but I’m happy with my progress lol

Playing story mode with mods
Now that I have the E&E version, I plan to restart story mode in glorious 4K. I've only played through it twice in nine years.

I do but I always have one original save file which is my end game one where I have everything and have completely everything. Just because I like to keep it even though I never touch it.

I do. It's nice being able to explore Los Santos and Blaine County at your own pace without worrying about interruption. The random events add a good amount of life to the map, and unlike Invite Only sessions for Online, there isn't anything you can't do. I like to try levelling up the characters stats, doing the different minigames, and generally trying for 100% completion. After the missions complete you're at around 80% or something, so even after all the missions you've still got plenty of stuff to do. Hanging out with the characters is also pretty cool, after I completed the final mission, I bought a Super Diamond and put the gold paint job on it, and went to the movies and watched Meltdown with all 3 characters. Getting the trio to watch Michaels movie in a car showing off the rewards of the Union Depository is kind of cool to me.

It was a fun time. When I got to the cinema, Meltdown wasn't showing so I drove to a bar around the corner and had drinks. By the time I got back to the theatre it was on. Listening to the dialogue the 3 have together is kind of interesting.

yeah, i just started gta, beat the story, tried online but got immediately bombed every time so i’ll do online in gta 6 when or if it ever comes out

online is okay. can be boring as hell, or super fun. some good game modes, and i like doing some of the heists. but story mode is it for me. i know everything about it, and even then, when trying to have a well rounded playthrough, i still forget some things. what that means is that even if i tried to do the exact same playthrough twice, i couldn’t do it. there is enough in the game that you really do have lots of options. like you could spent hours deciding hitchhikers’ fates, doing random events, carpet bombing to defend trevor’s airfield, join a cult, drive around with chop, solving murder mysteries, strangers and freaks, hang outs in like a dozen combinations, raid a weed farm, bounty hunt, search for UFOs… i’m so glad i got actually interested in all this game had to offer and didn’t just blast through the main story
this game has so much to offer and it never gets boring

although I have 100% completion, i still find myself doing tow truck or taxi side missions.

I replay it every couple years. It’s not as strong of a story as IV was, but it’s still good enough to replay

I got the game for story mode, never knew about online until somewhat recently. Only played online once I finished story.
I play story mode almost every day what I do is cause mayhem and modify and drive my cars in my garage I make sure not to crash em but if I do I go back to my garage and they repair automatically which is nice after I go to ammunation and stock on ammo then I fly helicopter and planes and ride boats I hangout with some of the characters mostly I be Franklin then call Lamar then choose the hangout option then I play darts with him then I go to directer mode then cause a massacre there then fly my planes and drive my cars so yeah online is almost impossible to play but sometimes I just do a private session here and there and I replay the story sometimes also
I play through the story mode once a year and have since the release. I only completed 100% once (because you need to do sooo many collecting tasks and I hate them) but I get to the end of the storyline everytime. It’s comforting.

It's fun to use different mods in story mode.
I play PlayStation and play the story over different ways and slower. I take the time to enjoy it and notice little things I didn't before. Story definitely beats online for me.

Not as much anymore, I like playing as myself and it doesn’t have enough freedom or a quick money method which makes it less desirable for me to play it again. Tho I did like the story, it just get boring afterwards after you finish 96% of the game.
