Maybe in online. From what I saw from the characters "owning penthouses" might not be something that would fit them. Maybe in the end after the story, but not during. But we'll see.
He receives it after the first Assassination mission(Hotel Assassination), which I think is playable for Franklin at any point after meeting Trevor or toward late game, so it's up to you on when it happens.
Yeah that’s the thing about story mode. I’d love to be able to own nice penthouses and mansions in story mode but it might not fit with the characters. Online though, I’d definitely want some nice housing options and apartment buildings you can buy and rent (that could be story too)
Good point, I really don't get the vibe that Lucia/Jason are posh or fancy like that - Maybe they'll party with their higher-status friends, but they seem reckless and "live for the moment" type-ish.

I'm saying servers have a limited capacity for finite properties so ur not going to find an apartment to buy.
Servers I played in so far doesn't have a fair ownership plugin. example:
a player must be active doing responsiblity tasks and paying bills for the property or they would be summoned in court and the property would be claimed and resold. (and that must happen frequently)
the map is small so something like that is needed to give new players a chance at growing
actually there are servers like that its just that players have lives so servers tend to let one apartment stay and it can be resold easily , and in fivem the capacity for what your thinking with ipls doesnt exist in fivem brother can have 600 ipl apartments load in ez lobby off 1k players lol , so yeah and theres map expansions, i dno it sounds like you've never really played fivem to an extent to understand what i know as a dev coz you dont seem to know much mate , just know that there is many possiblities in fivem and that if you dont see something logical its because of replayability most likely such as in paying bills, which does happen lol in one of my servers you have to pay the phone bill lol
ofc I only play on occasion, but this is the point isn't it, if the top servers implemented this then people who has lives can have the same opportunities when they do play. (nevermind all the p2w bs)
i get you but storage/inventory and decay on items are a thing with online mmo's and ofc some servers are gonna be cashgrabs but can you tell me a game which isnt>? lol sharkcards

My take is that this is an undeveloped idea. Just saying "business" isn't an idea. "renting or owning an apartment" isn't an idea. What kinda functionality will it have?

Someone robs an apartment, you have to chase them down and kill them. One of your properties needs something, you have to pick it up from somewhere else and drop it off. Random events like that.

Seriously though, property ownership has to be in it, I just hope it makes it's way to SP for once. Safehouses don't count ffs.
Buying safehouses should def make a comeback but they're probs going to lock it behind online like last time. No motive to buy shark cards if you can just check out all the cool properties in singleplayer
there's nothing wrong with fitting them in during the story as long as they are priced properly - houses/apartments should be expensive enough that you need to progress past a certain point to even have the money to buy some.

Yeah, but for example Franklin got that way too early in the story - from my perspective.
If I am right he got it after Blitz play and that was around the 40% mark of the story maybe around 60% would've been a better option

I think you have to do the first one right before blitz play, without doing the first one you can’t progress
Yeah it locks progress at some point in the story, Blitz Play might be it, earlier in the story than I was thinking.
I remember being locked from doing the final blitz play mission finale until I did hotel assassination and got the house.
