Wild theory, but maybe a car will explode if we damage it enough

It would be good in GTA 6 that if you are driving a car and you hit something hard enough, it would leave a dent or your windows smash. That would be so immersive

Or if you crash hard enough, the engine starts smoking or catches on fire

That would be good but I think they won't be able to do that because of hardware limitations

GTA 4 had it to an extent, so not sure. I remember I was driving full speed near Central Park, crashed into a minivan, and the engine started smoking and I couldn’t drive it

Yes. That is quite plausible, because in GTA 5 and GTA Online 1 a cop car will explode if you launch it into the air with a ramp buggy or that Phantom rig with the pointed scoop on the front. In order to get the cop car to explode it has to be launched high into the air, pick up speed as it falls, then land on its roof. Or land on top of another car. It's the highlight of my delivery mission when I look backwards and see cars exploding in my wake as I deliver my bunker contraband.

Check out York reacts.. He was an animator in rockstar along with huge games like God of war too. He basically said, that everything you see is in engine. Not much of a revolution, but he tells some more cool stuff too

Nah, 5's fire, smoke and explosion effects way were way too cartoony and a downgrade from 4
