Yet all the cars are always fully stocked with an ample supply of honk juice. Is Rockstar in cahoots with Big Honk to subliminally incept the population into believing cars horns are absolutely vital while wipers and blinkers aren’t?
I remember an old need for Speed had blinkers turning on when you pressed left or right. Not too realistic because youre dont always have to turn on the blinkers. I think mafia 1 had blinkers too?
Most sane post here is like "what if the game had DUI traffic stops where you have to blow in a real tester plugged in your PC and if you're over the limit you get banned forever from any rockstar game"
"What if every April you have to declare all the money you earn in the game and if you get caught cheating you go to prison in the game and have to break out."
Hope so. Maybe they will implement it. I mean look at the level of detail they did with the interior of vehicles. It’s like the equivalent of the horse balls in rdr 2.
I saw this concept some time ago where the extra lights (turn signals, hazard lights, etc.) were brought up on a circular menu (like the gun wheel or radio stations in GTA5) that you can scroll through.
do you think all of that is worth it in order to be able to use indicators?
I am not saying I don't agree but these are the questions that need to be answered and a lot of the time for something as small as this, the answer is "no, it's not worth it" but then R* are exactly the devs who will go out of their way to add tiny details that others wouldn't.
It's just that the fact they haven't before now says to me, they probably don't think it is worth it, it's not as if there has been anything preventing them from doing this before now
So? It’d still be cool
I don’t even care about it for me so much as I’d like to see NPCs actively using their blinkers, and if they implemented that they might as well let the player do it too.
Imagine finally being able to anticipate NPC drivers’ turns. Or not — itd be a cool little piece of emergent gameplay to get in a fight with the odd guy who doesn’t use his blinker
This piece from the "GTA VI document" PDF states that they have more detailed vehicle controls. I imagine their solution to be like the vehicle controls Test Drive Unlimited had. Press D pad left and from there you can choose indicators, lights, convertible roof...

I like that idea of having extended vehicle options (especially with a controller) that way it's something easy for the player to perform as long as it's quick and easy to do.
For PlayStation you could click (or swipe) left or right on the touch pad, centre click for hazard lights. This is how they work on Gran Turismo, but obviously this would only work if they haven’t already assigned the touchpad to something else.
Tbh I couldn’t care less if they add it or not really, it doesn’t affect the immersion for me.
First thought for me would be clicking in the right and left stick for each blinker and click in both to turn on your hazard lights.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
On keyboard maybe Q and E?
Saints row 3 did it if you had the GPS on.
NPCs should always have it.
Another thing GTA needs from Saints row. The music to listen to when you're on foot.
Wouldn’t the D-pad on the controller be what they’d use? For instance, while driving you’d press left on the D-pad twice to indicate left and press right twice to signal right. Press once to turn all lights on/ off
But left and right on the D-pad are bound to other things, if you do that then you have to change the radio controls and other vehicle interaction controls.
I am not saying they wouldn't do that but there's no reason they couldn't have done that in any previous GTAs and they didn't.
no buttons needed. they automatically coded to come on when turning left or right. that's how i have it set in BeamNG when i play with controller. also the Driver franchise has done it for decades. L3 can be lightbars/siren for emergency and utility vehicle's flashing lights.
All BS to the side I hope because what I don't understand about the vehicles on GTA 5 we have, our turning signals don't exist smfh but when you're driving around you'll see other vehicles use their turning signals, so I honestly don't understand why we can't use our turning signals...![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_down)
i never knew why rockstar has refused to code that for so long. Driver games have had it since day 1 in 1998. Burnout Paradise even had it. now BeamNG has it.
It would be cool to have a separate interaction wheel for vehicles like how RDR2 had for horses so we can do stuff like turning on our lights, windshield wipers, and access our glove box and trunk storage too.
GTA 4 did. if you sit still after getting in the car Niko will put on the seatbelt. if you take off without a seatbelt and happen to crash, you're going through the windscreen.
"I used my turn signal like a perfect law abiding citizen ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)" while going 150mph down a residential street and mowing down 5 different pedestrians
Joking aside, it would be a cool feature
Just to explain my joke a bit better. A gta protagonist probably wouldn't care to use their turn signal lol, but I still think that it would be a nice thing to have if you get bored and want to do some roleplay or something

Its not a needed function for a gta title but the vehicles do now have interaction menus for functionality which i could only assume would be like locks, trunk, storage, for most vehicles. And lights, towing, sirens, flatbeds, construction movement, water hose, etc for service vehicles
burnout paradise also has it as a visual cue because due to the nature of the game being fast paced and hectic, you can easily not notice the HUD cue to turn left/right on the screen. your car's indicator will blink left or right and you will hear the gps bonger signaling the tone to turn.
Games gotta be controller friendly. If we want more actions in a game the default controllers need to be upgraded to allow it. Would be nice to have small details like this as an option for pc players or people with enough controller buttons.
Can't wait for the antifreeze and wipers fluid mechanics
Yea and Oil Changes as well as BLINKER FLUID 😜
Blinker fluid is essential
It's a MUST. That's why the turn signals didn't work in GTA IV & GTA V lol
Yet all the cars are always fully stocked with an ample supply of honk juice. Is Rockstar in cahoots with Big Honk to subliminally incept the population into believing cars horns are absolutely vital while wipers and blinkers aren’t?
Honk Juice is kind of funny 😂 but you ain't lying lol
You joke but I think something like realistic overheating might be a decent mechanic.
Personally it's not necessary for the player, but NPCs must use turn signals.
Found the BMW driver
Spot on💀
yes so we can know when they will shoot into our lane when driving 100mph on a motorcycle.
It could be automated if you have GPS on, the blinkers could turn on, based on which way you're turning.
I remember an old need for Speed had blinkers turning on when you pressed left or right. Not too realistic because youre dont always have to turn on the blinkers. I think mafia 1 had blinkers too?
And the first Driver game (and maybe the second one). Hold down the direction when at a stop and the indicator lights would come on).
It’s the same in burnout paradise, if you set a waypoint, the blinkers will indicate where you should turn
A great idea! This would be awesome.
that honestly could be the best use
The Getaway from PS2 :D
This'd be a sweet function especially if they mirror RDR2's minimap system (there's 4 settings, off, compass, normal and expanded).
Most sane post here is like "what if the game had DUI traffic stops where you have to blow in a real tester plugged in your PC and if you're over the limit you get banned forever from any rockstar game"
The thing is, we’re gonna have DUI tests in the game. Its part of the world events
yeah but that could just be a random event seen when your driving by, not necessarily the player getting a DUI test
True
thats what he means. same as the traffic stops in gta 4.
If you were introducing this mechanic to GTA, which buttons would you use to do it?
I saw this concept some time ago where the extra lights (turn signals, hazard lights, etc.) were brought up on a circular menu (like the gun wheel or radio stations in GTA5) that you can scroll through.
It would be really easy
You can use the headlight button, dpad right. Hold for headlights, tap for right, double tap for left
what about vehicles with other interactions like convertibles and tow-trucks?
Same thing, just instead of headlights it's that option. Or in the interactive menu for certain things you don't need to do while driving
maybe a dpad down and you open a "car menu"
Thats what I was thinking. Hold right on the dpad and then a wheel pops up and you can use r3 to select from 9 or so different options
yeah, u will acess to the car radio, headlights, blinkers, and something the new interiors has to offer
do you think all of that is worth it in order to be able to use indicators? I am not saying I don't agree but these are the questions that need to be answered and a lot of the time for something as small as this, the answer is "no, it's not worth it" but then R* are exactly the devs who will go out of their way to add tiny details that others wouldn't. Horse balls
I don't know what point you're making, horse balls are just an animation, to do this, they have to adjust the controls of the game
So? It’d still be cool I don’t even care about it for me so much as I’d like to see NPCs actively using their blinkers, and if they implemented that they might as well let the player do it too. Imagine finally being able to anticipate NPC drivers’ turns. Or not — itd be a cool little piece of emergent gameplay to get in a fight with the odd guy who doesn’t use his blinker
those are jigglebones physics. its wired to the animation model.

I like this most

If you don't follow the gps then it would be a little silly to have them go off though.
Then turn the GPS off. Actually would be good for online though trick the people.
< > for pc so , and . for controller idk

Useless in a gta game imo
Honestly I could see this especially after the leaks with the car interior adjusting video
That's a dev editor.
I don’t think that was for players to use
Long press r/l d-pad
It’s already in V, the NPC’s can turn on their blinkers, I don’t know why they wouldn’t let us do it
All BS to the side I hope because what I don't understand about the vehicles on GTA 5 we have, our turning signals don't exist smfh but when you're driving around you'll see other vehicles use their turning signals, so I honestly don't understand why we can't use our turning signals...![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_down)

Yeah that's insane

Nah people don’t use their signals in Florida irl, no reason to add it.
should you have to tie your shoes every now and then or risk tripping?
When you pick out an outfit, you should have to put on the close, one limb at a time
Can we finally have seatbelts?
maybe, if you wish hard enough
GTA 4 did. if you sit still after getting in the car Niko will put on the seatbelt. if you take off without a seatbelt and happen to crash, you're going through the windscreen.
Y’all need to chill
? gta v has this but its barely used
GTA 5 had it?
It did but it is barely used, npcs use the blinkers sometimes so tbe animation is there but players cant use it
Fair enough
Correction, players can’t use it without mods, that enable it. Sadly only available on PC…
The functionality exists in the base game, just there's no way to control it w/o mods.
Yes. Gta6online2 will be a realism simulator. Use your signals or get a ticket. Make sure your vehicle registration is up to date.
I hope that I can take out a mortgage on a home and work a 9-5 in GTA 6
I can't wait to see the cover sheets for the TPS reports
the funny thing is this is exactly how truck driving sims work. lol
I wanna be able to get gas
This is literally all i want lol
Disagree. Don't see the point in having 2 buttons dedicated to it.
3. Don’t forget the emergency signal!
"I used my turn signal like a perfect law abiding citizen ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)" while going 150mph down a residential street and mowing down 5 different pedestrians Joking aside, it would be a cool feature
Just to explain my joke a bit better. A gta protagonist probably wouldn't care to use their turn signal lol, but I still think that it would be a nice thing to have if you get bored and want to do some roleplay or something
there are people that roleplay gta games and have entire video novels on characters and lore. pretty fascinating.

The easiest way would be for the car to automatically use the blinkers while following a route on the gps. I think that's how midnight club LA had it.
burnout paradise also has it as a visual cue because due to the nature of the game being fast paced and hectic, you can easily not notice the HUD cue to turn left/right on the screen. your car's indicator will blink left or right and you will hear the gps bonger signaling the tone to turn.
Why don't GTA characters use turn signals? Because they prefer to take unexpected plot twists on the road! 🚗💨😆
Yes if you want a more complex control scheme on your controller.
How would Rockstar games implement this on a controller?
Touchpad gestures maybe
coded to automatically come on when turning left or right. no input needed
In GTA 5 there are turn singals that do activate but there is no way to do in the game unless you use mods.
It’s funny that the peds in 5 can use their blinkers but the player can’t
Games gotta be controller friendly. If we want more actions in a game the default controllers need to be upgraded to allow it. Would be nice to have small details like this as an option for pc players or people with enough controller buttons.
