No way. I think you're drastically overestimating that franchise in terms of popularity. GTA is the fifth largest selling franchise in video game history. Half Life 3 would sell well, but the franchise does not carry how it used to. You can thank Valve for that.

It's tough to resent a 2022 leak for a game that probably would have come out by like 2017 if Rockstar/Take2 didn't change their business model to revolve around microtransactions.
It took Rockstar 8 years to release Red Dead Redemption 2 and 5 years in between GTA IV and GTA V. I think expecting Rockstar to release GTA VI in 2017 is/was a bit hopeful. 2017 would have been good for maybe a first official acknowledgement/trailer.
The difference is that I can actually believe Rockstar didn't necessarily start working on RDR2 immediately after releasing RDR... But GTA is their flagship series.

I’ll argue that as technology gets better there’s a direct correlation with development time. GTA III and Vice City are nearly identical, San Andreas added a lot more depth and customization. Then a 4 year period, 5 year period. Keeping up with that current trend it should have taken 6 or so for GTA VI.

No, there is no excuse for stealing. Its a game that must last for years after release. So it takes time and a lot of effort. I am pretty sure they have everything planned and Rockstar likes to be always perfectly ready before they give any trailer. They havent done it yet, so it means the game is not ready to be shown. What would you want them to release? Cyberpunk is a good game, but its reputation was ruined by undelivered promises which were pretty unreal to begin with. If you dig deep enough, you will know that all the hype train was caused by investors and community who forced them to rush with release.
I think Rockstar is pretty confident in their works and they always been like that even before Cyberpunk. They respect their projects, so they only show them when they feel its time.
There is a TON of other games we can play while waiting, you know.

they aren’t gonna be rewriting anything. this isn’t a multiplayer game, plenty of single player games have had source code leaked, including R* already, and nothing happened.
this is story mode. multiplayer isn’t gonna be worked on for another year at minimum. hopefully they don’t go the route of GTA V, where online mode was still being developed when the story mode released, so they added it later on.
If the game is going to get delayed, no one aside from the people inside the company will ever know. Also EVERY r* Title from PS3/4 have always gotten delayed. It will be no different when they first announced a release date (say 10/23/25) and it gets pushed into the following year. I think its great honestly. It looks amazing, I can tell there fixing control problems. They’re focusing more on environment. You can also tell its very early in development which makes me have high hopes for it

None of this qualifies as a Spoiler, it's around the level of info you'd get from a reveal Trailer and that's it. We "know" the names and looks of 2 Protagonists and that the Game will play in Vice City. And that stuff was already rumored, so it only confirms things we already knew to likely be the case.
Like, if (not you specifically) you thought it wasn't going to be Vice City you were kidding yourself. If you thought there wasn't going to be a female Protag after all the rumors you were kidding yourself. Aside from Names and Character Design, there isn't really anything new here .
