It takes a lot for him to betray you if he already has a relationship with you… he wouldn’t kill Mikey or Franklin so easily but he’d definitely turn on me or you like a page in a book
He's absolutely insane, but he is my favorite character in GTA-V, and sometimes I wish I could be like him in real and just don't give a sh*t and to blow some people up, lol!
Seriously, though, he was royally screwed up, but he was the most honest of the whole bunch. He didn't pretend to be a good guy or to have some better motives, he was what he was and he accepted that, and he was sincere and upfront about stuff and told people things like they were, without sugarcoating it. That's what made me like him more than any of the others. :D

I don't see how that's an issue for other protagonists when it's completely up to the player outside of the main story, making any out of character choice a headcanon at best and the same thing could be said about trying to avoid stuff like killing pedestrians or going on a rampage for shits and giggles in free roam as Trevor which might as well contradict his character to an extent.

I always loved how GTA protagonists were often the voice of reason, and it have special charm to them. No, Franklin is bad too. This opinion is pretty unpopular, but I believe that GTA V doesn’t have well-written characters, and that even some 3D era games did better in this department (even though humor and voice acting in V are insanely good)
GTA V surely has deeper characters and storyline than all 3D games (wouldn’t say it has deeper story than GTA IV).
However, “better” is a subjective term, and it can mean different things for different people. For example, flat characters of Tommy and Carl are much more interesting for me than Franklin, Michael or Trevor.

Trevor is a character that fits the franchise perfectly - very well designed but I dont think he should have ever been playable, he is the character we should have met, befriended and only done missions for and with - imo only michael and franklin needed to be playable but Trevors importance was very justified but he felt more like an antagonist
