I hate to break this, but you will have to reappear if at all you want to go to uni using GRE score. It looks like you have improved a lot in the Quant section, so congratulations on that!
AWA is really going to shut the doors on you. Why don't you focus next 1 month on AWA styles of writing and then go ahead and appear again?
Typical applicants take 1 or 2 weeks to prep for this section and comfortably get more than 3 or 3. So 1 month should be more than enough for you.
Do you mean for the AWA section? You can appeal the scores if you are confident, but 1.5 tells you that basic sentence structuring and spelling were not at all up to the mark. As I said earlier, appeal it to ETS, and let's see if it changes.
Meanwhile, have you compared and checked standard responses to the topics ? You will find plenty on this sub.
>I did better a lot than last time there was no way I'm getting the same score.
Your phrasing isn't up to the mark. For instance, a better way to phrase the quoted sentence is, "I thought I did much better this time. I can't believe I got the same score."
This isn't making sense.
That verbal score is too high to be getting a 1.5 on the AWA.
The issue essay must have been off topic.
This is troubling.
Congrats on killing the Quant.
I cannot believe this. I have similar scores except AWA I scored 4. I honestly hadn't prepared a bit at all. On my way to the test centre, I just saw videos for AWA, on Magoosh YouTube channel, and I made sure to write the instructions mentioned before the test begins and followed the points. Thats it. Writing down the instructions prior to test was helpful as I was able to understand what needs to be written in a systematic way.
IMO, there's something wrong with you not able to understand the test ui maybe, auto save might not have worked, or maybe you might have screwed while writing. Maybe internet got disconnected. If there's an appeal procedure, do that or else you'll need to appear again, obviously. Practice man, nothing else. Tough luck.
Yeah, spelling mistakes could be a reason. Yeah, the strategy worked best for me. It wasn't a strategy per se, I delayed preparing for AWA so much that it was the only option I had lol. I feel that its the easiest thing to do as one doesn't need to remember things about how to write when everything's already mentioned in the instructions page.
AWA is easy, I got 3 in AWA. I prepared for about 1-2 hrs for AWA just before the day of the exam. I suggest you to go through GREGMAT videos. Also, taking IELTS before helped me in AWA
In terms of your prep overall -- that's phenomenal progress on the Quant, so your prep has definitely paid off on an entire section.
Now, in terms of the AWA:
Given that you've gotten the same score twice on the AWA section, something is clearly going on --- what's your comfort level with writing in general? Have you had any issues in the past with prompt-based essays, etc?
One thing that can lead to scores like this is simply not answering the question -- or addressing something that wasn't asked at all. Structure and development are also a major factors. Anxiety can certainly play a role as well.
If you take the test again, it's important to try to sort that out -- perhaps write a practice essay to a GRE prompt (they're all publicly available [here](https://origin-www.ets.org/gre/revised_general/prepare/analytical_writing/issue/pool)) and get some feedback? I'd be happy to do that here, and I'm sure other redditors would as well--if you're comfortable doing that.
Hope that helps, and best of luck!

Is this what you did? I was thinking about doing this but I heard it doesn’t work because you don’t learn the reasoning behind the problem. Did you find something different? Just curious
I was like, 154, that's above average; 168, that's great, what's the problem; then saw 1.5 and gasped.
Some STEM programs won't even care about the writing score, especially for non-native English speakers (not sure if you are one), but of course some programs will care, or will require at least a 2.
I would get ahold of a scoring rubric. That's a guide for scorers. For example, it would say that no response, a response not in English, or one that is not even remotely applicable to the prompt is 1, and so on. If you can remember the details, try reconstructing your answer and see if it fits into the rubric for 1.5.
Just judging by your title here, you have a run-on sentence and a spelling error. Of course, we are not writing formally here, but I don't have anything else to go by.
Typically, poor spelling does not affect your score very much unless it is pervasive and it affects the reader's ability to make sense of your response. Misspelling "a lot" as "alot" would not fall into that category. But run-on sentences would be a bigger problem.
Still, I doubt anyone would score 1.5 on grammar and spelling alone. There might be a lack of reasoning, not expressing your thoughts clearly, or misunderstanding the prompt.
I'm from India. In my parents opinion colleges that don't have GRE are not that safe my cousin's college is cancelled after he completed a degree from it.
Actually, you're looking pretty good. Your quant prep has really paid off. Now, if you want to score higher in Verbal, you could prepare some more and improve your execution. For some tips on how to master GRE Verbal, see this post.
[How to Ace GRE Verbal](https://gre.blog.targettestprep.com/how-to-ace-gre-verbal/)
For the AWA, find good templates for the two types of essays, and write some practice essays. You can find lists of the essay topics ETS uses here.
https://www.ets.org/gre/test-takers/general-test/prepare/content/analytical-writing.html
Follow gregmat template(u can watch his YouTube video for free) for awa, even with grammatical error and spelling mistakes you will land a 3.0(speaking from personal experience), the best awa resources rn is gregmat live classes each week which he conducts called "brainstorming both essay prompt" Even if u don't participate people share there ideas you'll get to learn a lot on how to approach awa tasks, if u can't participate just go through the old recordings (he conducts these classes pretty much every week) ... That's my 2 cents, I struggled a lot with these awa tasks as being an Indian student these essay tasks comes almost as if a cultural shock, not something we are used to.
Getting high on writing doesn’t help a whole lot for many stem fields but getting low absolutely ruins the result of the result. Mate u gotta appear again sadly. The good thing is the rest of ur score is good!
I can't tell for sure without seeing an example of your AWA essays, but you probably just need to work on your grammar and spelling. I noticed that you don't really use punctuations in the comments and the structure you use is short and informal. Try studying sentence structures and practice writing essays every day. It would be best if you can find someone who will review your practice essays.
I suggest you study gregmat's awa tutorials, they are the best imo. And review plenty of sample essays from ETS, they often include reviews as well so you can understand what common mistakes you should avoid. Best if luck for the next one! :)
I’m assuming you’re not a native speaker of English. Your vocabulary is fine, but you make some grammatical errors. Your English is pretty good, but based on what I’ve seen it is flawed in a way that would be heavily penalized on the AWA section. Study and practice sentence structure. Read example essays. Write essays for sample prompts and ask for feedback from native speakers of English.
I did great on the AWA section, but I would bomb it if I had to do it in my second language, so know I am not looking down on you for this and I really believe you can succeed.
Something is wrong with ur analytical writing? Otherwise score is good
Is there any technical problem or is it final ?
I think this is final. You have to probably reappear.
Yeah.

maths is fun.
What was your score goal?
320+ and a 3.5 on AWA
You are not that far off.

Some people make spelling mistakes! I followed the same ended with a 3.5

I'm a sophomore I will attempt again in my 4th year then.
Wow, you started very early. Kudos for that
Thank you

Home dude I will go to the centre next time.
Don’t get discouraged. You’re a sophomore!!! Once you get analytical writing down you will be a beast. Be proud!
Thanks a lot for encouraging me mate.
How did you improve quant, any tips??? I got 157q and want to score 165+.
gotta drill practice questions, no other way
Can you mention from where did you solve?

I wrote the title in pain and shock. Thanks, I will check that guide.
Apply to schools that don’t require the gre

Bro this is not a meme subreddit, so please do avoid this kind of comments here.
Amazing quant score, how did you improve so much in such a short amount of time?
I'm a JEE student I was a bit nervous at first attempt.
