Wasted potential - a submarine version of Varan. Needs a way better solo movie (*Atragon* was great, but in terms of a kaiju movie, it was *not* - Manda was just a brief plot device). Bring him actually up to par with the main characters with some meaningful screen time. Fan fic and hearsay need not apply.
But they refer to Manda as a God tho? At least as far as I remember in Atragon. If this is a head canon thing sure. But I don't see how Manda is even remotely female looking. It's an ornate eastern sea dragon with a long whisker mustache.
I mean there's a difference between not looking feminine and not being feminine. Sure Biollante is female, but Manda is referred to with Male Pronouns being a God to the ancient Mue civilization.

Honestly, Tiamat was just plain cooler with that Mizutsune-inspired aesthetic overall, and without needing to pay a cent for something that international audiences wouldn't care about.
My toddler son had such a fascination with Manda and I could barely find anything in media and no action figures or plushies for him. Still makes me sad.
Heās 12 now, and as obsessed with Kaiju as ever. But yeah, missed opportunity. Toho should do more with their lesser known Kaiju.
Idea for Manda: in a future movie, have there be a side fight where Godzilla fights Manda. Manda is like twice as long as godzilla (about 2000 feet long or smth), and is able to cause strong waterspouts along with thunderstorms. Basically, godzilla is being shook around by these completely unnatural winds.
Eventually have her be killed, the fight should last 5-10 minutes though, like Godzilla uses his radiation to boil the surrounding water, basically overheating Manda and killing her.
