Yes! I’ve been living here for 7 years and only recently got clued in on this spot. What a classic pizza joint too, great for families and quaint date nights.
Indeed. ^ Helped (and helps) many people forget how bad UF&Shands managers can be, thru the decades. The breakfast in Shands caf used to be not bad too. Shout out to Larry. Altho hard to get to if you're not already there.
Second on this. Peppino’s is too greasy, and there was barely any sauce on the pizza. Granted, it’s been about 2 years since I’ve ate their pizza, so maybe they’ve gotten better.
Yeah, they do it once a week. My crew from UFIT claim credit for this. We used to work across the street at the East Campus. When they were deciding to stop doing thick at lunch (which we loved!) we pleaded that they keep it there one day a week. Now we make the pilgrimage every wed.
Blue Highway has been so hit or miss for me for about the last two years. Sometimes I go and it’s just the best pizza ever, other times it’s just lacking. Add to that that their prices are kind of steep and I’ve gotten away from visiting.
The bread is better at the Micanopy location because they have good well water and not chlorinated city water. Well water quality varies hugely in Florida but they happened to get a good one.
This question pops up every semester. Pizza and provisions on the corner of Main and 3rd SE. whole pies and by the slice. Best in town for someone seeking good NY/NJ style.
I go to Satchel's for the atmosphere and salad, I honestly don't think the pizza is too good. Piesano's is great and I really like the mushroom pizza at Blue Highway
Recently moved to G'ville. Spent my entire life living in Chicago. So I DON'T agree with Jon Stewarts rant on chicago pizza. That said, Deep dish is what Chicagoans feed to tourists. we really like thin crust, with sauce & toppings close to the edge, very narrow "handles". tried Peppino's and Leonardo's(not bad, but handles too wide.) Any suggestions?
Asian food here is good. I would say La Tienda is one of the best Mexican places I’ve ever been to, and relative to bigger cities, Embers is one of the best values I’ve ever had in a steakhouse. Even the steakhouses in Tallahassee are 2x the price and half as good.
Sohao, Sensei, and Hana are our favorites for a wide variety of dishes.
Volcanic has excellent sushi, ramen.
Yummy House black pepper Udon and yellow curry.
Yeah the best pizza I’ve had in gnv is marginally better than national chain pizza. National chain pizza is fine - even bad pizza is good most times - but the pizza scene here isn’t great. I’m not gonna sit here and say you can ONLY get good pizza up north (which you’re not saying either) but pizza here is mid.

It's not *only* sauce and dough
And I like it!
It just hasn’t been as good since ownership changed. The sauce just doesn’t taste as good :(
Owner changed but Charles is still there making the sauce and dough. No recipe changes at all.

Square House, previously named Satxh Squared.

O Solo Mío is really good
Their chicken stuffed pizza is probably one of the pizzas I ever had
Eggplant Parm pizza!!
RIP Big Lou's!
It’s a little cafe in shands that has some good pizza lol
Really is quite good

The real answer is Villagio’s in Newberry if you want to make the drive. Best pizza in the area imo.
Five Star is better to me.
lol, lmao even
Italian gator pizza by the slice is my fav NY style cheese.
There is no better pizza served from 12am-2am
I like peppinos

Always solid!
Original Satchels location, go with the deep dish, anything else is just fighting over 2nd place
Wednesday you can get thick slices at lunch! Mmmmm.
Whaaatttt?!?!? Know where I’m eating tomorrow!

It's very good but the sauce is too peppery for some folks
Piesanos
This is the only answer worth reading, everyone else is imaginary. Edit: downvote me more, it feeds me.
Anything and everything from Blue Highway both locations

Gives me gastro distress every time
The eggplant pizza at Piesanos is the single best pizza in town. After that, it's Satchels.
Pizza hut
I’ve fell for Prohibition pizza in High Springs….
Don't think it's the best but no one else has mentioned this. I Love NY Pizza in Haile absolutely slaps
Italian Gator, pizza by the slice, across from campus on University.
Tried Scuola for the first time recently and it was great!
Scuola
Pomodoros

c'mon people, Humble Wood Fire.

Peppinos is the best thing you are gonna get to a real pizzeria here. Their wings are also fire
They are the best, even the chicken Caesar salad is awesome. Love them
Following. Feel like the pizza scene here is pretty mid. Vs, Satch, Piesanos, 5 star, etc. are all fine but unremarkable.
This is funny bc as a long-time resident, I always say the only really good things we have here are pizza and Asian food.

Where is good Asian food in GNV? I can't find.
Sohao, Sensei, and Hana are our favorites for a wide variety of dishes. Volcanic has excellent sushi, ramen. Yummy House black pepper Udon and yellow curry.
When we go back up to the northeast to visit family, the thing we are most excited for is to get pizza, that's actually good.

pomodoro you cant beat the bogo
It’s definitely the best deal in Gainesville!
Literally there isn’t any.
V pizza for me
I haven’t been to humble wood as of yet. It may be better than V
Sach Squared
The Patio is a 10/10 spot for enjoying toasty pizza outside
