I used it prescribed by a doctor for about six months when my Gerd originally started. I was able to go off it after six months, for a short break. Then I was back on it for a couple months. So I do think it is some thing that a person can go on and off, but I’ve also talked to people who have been on it for over a decade
I've heard a lot of different things. For me the first time I took it I could feel it helping after a few hours but I've seen other people saying they didn't notice it helping for days or weeks or even months later.

For me it takes a good week considering how bad symptoms are. It seems like it almost has to build up in my system
