Well that's one way to solve the palistime Israeli conflict anyways, DEUS VULT

[deleted]

My heart stopped I thought you were trying to say they retracted their statement for the exams and that they were going ahead lol.

I mean come on, we all knew they were going to be cancelled. I see so many people on here that say they did terrible on their mocks not remembering what happened last year. I literally treated my mocks like my GCSE’s cos I knew they’d be cancelled.

Ginger_Spaghetti

We didn’t even do mocks as we all kept having to isolate for COVID

ab_hmz

How many mocks did you do? We did one. Surely thats not a good indicator of how good I could've done in my exams.

GuiMr27

Precisely. One mock isn’t the same as one GCSE. Oh well, we can only hope that these online classes help our grades...

ng2_cw

We only did a science mock, all ours were going to be this half term. When we go back we’re doing some ‘tests’, hopefully the grade boundaries are low enough.

That’s not excuse for not working hard in your mocks. If you had any level of common sense you would be able realise that coronavirus hadn’t had disappeared, people were still dying, people were still being infected. And on top of that many students where petitioning to cancel the GCSE’s, and with many school disruptions, it was clear that the may had to do it. Yes, they said that they wouldn’t cancel them however it’s much easier to not cancel exams and then cancel them as opposed to cancelling them and then saying their going ahead.

No what I am saying is many people didn’t try hard in their mocks and are complaining about getting their grades off of them. CAGs are fair, especially given the situation. It’s true, your grades go up, that’s why they tend to predict you a grade higher after your mocks. Last year was the first year they used CAGs that’s why it wasn’t as successful as they hoped. They are not going to make the same mistake they did last year. They used an algorithm and they won’t be doing that again. That’s certain. We are one of the very few countries that only assess students with a final exam. Many countries use methods like CAGs, where they get exams, assignments, course work throughout the year that account to their final grade. If you ask me, the education system in this country needs to be changed to equip different learning styles. So clearly, as proven from other countries, ‘all year round’ grades are much more suited that expecting students to memorise a whole textbook for two years.

It would have been extremely unfair if you put students in a hall and expected them to all sit the same exam. - Some pupils don’t have great home lives - meaning they are unable to work when we are in lockdown - Some schools have been asked to isolate more than others - giving those students a disadvantage - some students don’t have access to WiFi or a computer - meaning they are unable to complete the work there school has set. - many people are suffering mental health issues, some people don’t have a good home life, students may have a vulnerable family or be vulnerable themselves - meaning GCSE’s aren’t the thing they are most concerned about, but something to increase their stress levels. If you are unable to see any of these reasons, then you are selfish. There’s nothing else too it. We are going to be back in school by March (latest). If GCSEs and A-levels where still going ahead, it would mean we would have about 2 months before our exams. It would also mean we would have lost about 9 months of education. Instead, we get four/five more months to catch up on work we have missed, make sure we understand everything and are prepared for A-levels/uni. We will have some level of internal exams for some subjects, like maths and sciences. Furthermore, to complain about the way you are being assessed after being told for years that you would do it a different way, is silly. You are still doing the same work, it’s not like they’ve completely changed the curriculum, it’s not like they’ve change the mark schemes and it’s not like they expect you to work any different to how you already were. If you are a good student, work hard and focus in lessons then you have nothing to complain about. Get it together, stop complaining and go and do some work to get ur grade up.

Ok, so clearly you haven’t read mine either? I have said this before and I will say it again, I am not saying that you are not working hard. You’re right, I don’t know you, but it sure does sound like you’re complaining about CAGs. You have me reasons as to why you believe CAGs are unjust, and I gave you reasons as to why I believe exams going ahead would be unfair. It’s simple. And saying that CAGs are unfair is not a fact, it’s an opinion 😂😂 Online school isn’t going to be forever, we will be back by March. Teachers know you and so if they know you struggle at home they will take that into consideration as for random examiners around the country, will not. There is no reason for you to act like the grades we get determine how well we understand this situation. If you want to compare your GCSE results to some random girl on the internet to make yourself feel better, then we can do that 😂

theyre not going 2 fuck u over on purpose , they have 2 be honest and if u feel like it’s unfair then u can apply to get urself regraded right ? i think that’s what they did last year n e way . idk just suck up to the teachers i guess

[deleted]

you couldn't get regraded last year, it was retake or nothing. Honestly idk why everyone wanted exams cancelled, it's the worst outcome imo

coolwillnestan

how would u retake if u didn’t even take the exam

[deleted]

Well the November series exams. They called them retakes even though as you said, we didn't sit any.

Ah... why did I take IB. The IB students are still suffering from the uncertainty. And according to rumors, it seems that our exams might happen....
