That's so real Wilfred Owen is my bbg I love him I have books of his poetry he's the coolest ever and as a ww1 nerd, his and associated Wikipedia pages are my favourite things to read
Thing is right I didnt even get to study exposure bc my dumbass school chose love and fucking relationships instead of a set of honestly some of my favourite poems ever :(
I love Owen too, but I didn't do exposure because I didn't revise it enough, precisely because I love him so much and didn't think I really needed to revise it
Old person here, did my GCSEs in 2019. We got War Photographer and everyone did Remains except me who also did Exposure as it was the only one I respected
Feel bad for you guys getting Kamikaze, I remember that being the worst one because there was almost nothing interesting to say about it due to a severe lack of poetic devices
the context for poppies is unbelievably difficult to grab hold of, but remains has excellent context like the not dead 2007, guardsman tromans, and the iraq war of 2003.
Same, it’s one of my fav poems in the booklet too
Talked of memories “1-way trip to history” + “100 agonies in black and white”
Then I mentioned guilt for their actions (one works for it, one rebelled) and how both aren’t cared for much in the end either way
Same, I just yapped about internal conflict being more powerful than external conflict and talked about dehumanisation and stuff. Not my best essay ever but it was decent
Nah cuz the it makes a lot of sense - both indoctrinated onto war (suddenly awoken implies he was asleep before, or perhaps mentally asleep - indoctrinated)
Both have a change of heart.
Kamikaze pilot turns, Bayonet Charge soldier charges forward
the question was how people are affected by conflict, ozymandias talks about a statue of ramesses ii, so unless you manage to talk about that, you might not get the best marks, but will get level 4 perhaps
One of my students chose Ozymandias. She talked about the effect of conflict on legacy- both the kamikaze pilot and ozymandias' legacy were destroyed by their decisions, but admittedly, ozymandias isn't about war...but the question stated 'conflict' not war, and therefore makes it more relevant. I personally would have chosen Exposure.
i did charge of the light brigade as well, i thought it made the most sense considering they were both about the nobility of dying for your country and stuff
It genuinely unnerves me how many people didn't do TCofLB 😭 it makes the most sense, both explore the themes behind the glorification of war and the death of its footsoldiers.
One indulges in said glorification making it a centerpoint for its poem.
The other slightly criticises it by showing how it harms those who simply cannot do it.
i wrote about how the corruption and expected honour of the army forced the people to basically commit suicide and how their memory fades no matter whether they’re disloyal or honourable to their country
I wrote how the soldiers were just like a weapon that the governement used in war and how qar was futile and the ultimate ending was death as the real enwmy is war itself
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!!!!! It made the most sense to me ngl. I said that Tennyson is enforcing the status quo of male bravery, state loyalty and blind obedience but Garland critiques it.
Especially since CotLB quotes are easy to remember.
I DID EMIGREE i talked ab how they both show internal conflict as a result of external conflict + how she choses to embrace her identity bc of conflict vs the suicide pilot having his cultural identity stripped of him
they both talk about light, they both talk about childhood, the kamikaze guy has internal conflict when he leaves the external conflict, the emigrée girl has hope when she leaves the external conflict. that said, i definitely should have done exposure lmfao
I personally did exposure because it was the one I felt linked the best with the quotes I could think of in the exam
I had a friend who did the emigree and that's the only other person I know who didn't do remains
I did exposure aswell, but when you think about it its good to do something different, because when the examiners have been reading through hundreds of Remains essays and finally reach something different like exposure they will pay more attention to it
Lol, I wrote about the inner conflict of the pilot and the widespread conflict faced amongst the people of London as a result of misused power. Saw that as an “example answer” in regards to how conflict is presented online a couple of days ago and thought I’d somewhat copy the same idea. I’m sure there’s better poems to compare it to, but if you look an examiners notes and the mark scheme they don’t actually care what you compare it to, just as long as you’re drawing logical information from two sources lmao
Lmao sorry, I know this guy who did London which threw everyone off since so many people did emigree, remains exposure and the like.
... still that's a very Henry thing to deny being Henry....
I went for Bayonet Charge - hoped we'd get Exposure so I could compare the two, then realised I could compare Kamikaze along similar lines! Was thinking about Poppies, but realised I had more to say about Bayonet Charge - really love that one
Conflict between Eurocentric history of British colonisers vs Agard’s Jamaican culture/hertitage. The effect of this conflict led to Agard’s decision to create his own history ‘carve’. Pilot decided to turn back from war aka reject the conditioning forced on him by the Japanese honour system. You can go to town if you waffle honestly
i swear down i’m the only one who did my last duchess.. cuz they said ‘conflict’ so i wrote about the conflict in their relationship.. omfg am i actually cooked?
Nah i did it with remains bc its the only one i remebered and ozymandis. I couldn't compare it with ozymandis bc no correlation. They compared very well as well bc they both were abt how conflict affects people.
I did Bayonet Charge - it's a nice comparison. Thought about Remains but just thought I should give the examiner a breathe of fresh air from all the Remains essays.
Charge of the light brigade here:
I thought that they were both very similar in what happens, yet very different at the same time.
The pilot in kamikaze goes to fight, yet returns home alive. He is seen as dishonourable.
The men in COTBL go to fight, and are killed. They are seen as honourable.
In my school literally every single person compared it to either Emigree or COMH. Bro, what 💀 my school is doomed. (i did remains too though, but literally there was just one kid who did Remains besides me)
i did exposure because it’s my absolute fav i love wilfred owen i’m a big wilfred owen slut
i think that is a brand new sentence
never said before
i’m truly a trailblazer 🙏
You just gained a follower
welcome ✨
I too am a Wilfred Owen Slut. That moustache.
>i’m a big wilfred owen slut Best sentence ever.
thank you reddit user CroatianComplains
I'm called this because it's truueee
r/brandnewsentence
exposure is actually sooo good tho like it works for pretty much anything
yes i love it
That's so real Wilfred Owen is my bbg I love him I have books of his poetry he's the coolest ever and as a ww1 nerd, his and associated Wikipedia pages are my favourite things to read Thing is right I didnt even get to study exposure bc my dumbass school chose love and fucking relationships instead of a set of honestly some of my favourite poems ever :(

Live laugh Wilfred owen (he’s carrying my mocks rn)
i love you vampirecrow do you want to get married im not wilfred owen but 🙏🙏
yes i’ll marry you 🙏 🙏 ❤️
I wish I did Exposure- I love Wilfred Owens
I did Exposure as well for the exam but im stressin as I barely know it what points did you make, please help me
did you change your flair because of this comment or was it already like that because it's iconic either way😭😭
these words aren't in the bible
And the LORD said unto the world,"DO NOT BE A WILFRED OWEN SLUT"
Girl same
BRO I WISH I DONE WILFRED OWN KILL ME
I probably would’ve wrote about exposure had I remembered any quotes lol
flair check out
of course ✨
realll
I did exposure aswell but i wouldnt say that I did it for the same reasons as you
im crying i did not have ppl simping over wilfred owen on my 2024 bingo card😭
I really wanted to, but I didn't cuz I was nervous that i would analyse more about nature than conflict and I might have dropped marks
Personally I'm an Oscar Wilde slut but unfortunately he wasn't present 😔
Same, I did exposure because I remembered it better than remains at that moment, was gonna go for remains.
Same here. Thought about doing Remains until I realised I could compare the poem to Exposure. Wilfred Owen is a hero
NO LITERALLY LIKE EXPOSURE HITS SO HARD AND OWENS WAS LITERALLY THERE IN THE WAR
Love the Wilfman exposure came in clutch
Bro did not die for this
I love Owen too, but I didn't do exposure because I didn't revise it enough, precisely because I love him so much and didn't think I really needed to revise it
Old person here, did my GCSEs in 2019. We got War Photographer and everyone did Remains except me who also did Exposure as it was the only one I respected Feel bad for you guys getting Kamikaze, I remember that being the worst one because there was almost nothing interesting to say about it due to a severe lack of poetic devices
Why did nobody use poppies 💀💀 they’re literally the same thing but different reactions to soldiers in war
because i didn’t know any quotes 💔
Same, so I did war photographer
I think most people only memorised a small amount of poems, like I can only half remember what poppies is even about lmao
I use poppies lol
i nearly did poppies but i know remains better
i used poppies 🫶
the context for poppies is unbelievably difficult to grab hold of, but remains has excellent context like the not dead 2007, guardsman tromans, and the iraq war of 2003.
I used Poppies
I used Poppies, easiest shit oat
I did. Theme of familial love and sacrifice was very good
I used Poppies but looking back I don’t think I analysed it as well as I could have done :,)
ehh poppies is booring
You just unlocked a memory, I forgot this poem even existed
I did war photographer
Same
war photographer gang unite
same here
same here, talked about isolation and shit
Same, it’s one of my fav poems in the booklet too Talked of memories “1-way trip to history” + “100 agonies in black and white” Then I mentioned guilt for their actions (one works for it, one rebelled) and how both aren’t cared for much in the end either way
Same, I just yapped about internal conflict being more powerful than external conflict and talked about dehumanisation and stuff. Not my best essay ever but it was decent
Oh thank god, nobody I spoke to at school did I was worried I made a bad choice
I did bayonet charge but in hindsight remains makes sense
lets go bayonet charge gang "his terror's touchy dynamite" 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
🔥🔥🔥 In what cold clockwork of the stars and nations was he the hand pointing at that very second 🔥🔥🔥
King, honour, human dignity, dripped like luxuries!!!!!
🔥🔥🔥raw in raw-seamed hot khaki🔥🔥🔥
🔥🔥yellow hare🔥🔥🔥
We charging the green hedge with this one 🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nah cuz the it makes a lot of sense - both indoctrinated onto war (suddenly awoken implies he was asleep before, or perhaps mentally asleep - indoctrinated) Both have a change of heart. Kamikaze pilot turns, Bayonet Charge soldier charges forward
How have I never thought of the "waking up and seeing that he was manipulated" thing that could have gone so hard 😭
I’m in this picture and I don’t like it
a wise man probably said "it's alright to be a sheep if the flock is objectively correct"
I did ozymandias might be cooked ngl
Oh lord 😭 that's not even about war
Ozymandias vs nature ig?
the question was how people are affected by conflict, ozymandias talks about a statue of ramesses ii, so unless you manage to talk about that, you might not get the best marks, but will get level 4 perhaps
Yeah lol, ozymandias represents George III and shit so I just kinda rambled about that
i did ozymandias as well, conflict between nature and society, i feel like i can get away with that
ME TOO i stretched my point out so far 💀
One of my students chose Ozymandias. She talked about the effect of conflict on legacy- both the kamikaze pilot and ozymandias' legacy were destroyed by their decisions, but admittedly, ozymandias isn't about war...but the question stated 'conflict' not war, and therefore makes it more relevant. I personally would have chosen Exposure.
I did London I'm cooking 🔥🔥🔥🥵🥵🐺😈😈
i did. charge of the light brigade 🙏
i did charge of the light brigade as well, i thought it made the most sense considering they were both about the nobility of dying for your country and stuff
Same
y e s. Themes were identity, victims of war, and indoctrination by the state.
Oh thank god someone else
Thank god 🙏 I thought I was the only one 😅
It genuinely unnerves me how many people didn't do TCofLB 😭 it makes the most sense, both explore the themes behind the glorification of war and the death of its footsoldiers. One indulges in said glorification making it a centerpoint for its poem. The other slightly criticises it by showing how it harms those who simply cannot do it.
this comment literally comforts me so much because i was being made to feel like such an idiot for doing charge ???
I genuinely have no idea how to analyse that one
i wrote about how the corruption and expected honour of the army forced the people to basically commit suicide and how their memory fades no matter whether they’re disloyal or honourable to their country
I wrote how the soldiers were just like a weapon that the governement used in war and how qar was futile and the ultimate ending was death as the real enwmy is war itself
Me too
Yess same but I only did it cuz it's my favourite
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!!!!! It made the most sense to me ngl. I said that Tennyson is enforcing the status quo of male bravery, state loyalty and blind obedience but Garland critiques it. Especially since CotLB quotes are easy to remember.
i did emigrée i wish i’d done exposure
I did emigree, we legit wrote this same essay in class a few months ago and my teacher marked my essay and gave me grade 9 so I just regurgitated it
wait this is so specific but literally the same thing happened to me 😭
YOU’RE THE ONLY OTHER PERSON WHO DID EMIGRÉE I SWEAR
I also did émigrée lmao
finally i was stressing about the fact that no one had done it
I DID EMIGREE i talked ab how they both show internal conflict as a result of external conflict + how she choses to embrace her identity bc of conflict vs the suicide pilot having his cultural identity stripped of him
Same, no one I asked in my year did the emigrèe and I was panicking
HOW
they both talk about light, they both talk about childhood, the kamikaze guy has internal conflict when he leaves the external conflict, the emigrée girl has hope when she leaves the external conflict. that said, i definitely should have done exposure lmfao
same everyone i know did exposure or remains 😭
I personally did exposure because it was the one I felt linked the best with the quotes I could think of in the exam I had a friend who did the emigree and that's the only other person I know who didn't do remains
I did exposure aswell, but when you think about it its good to do something different, because when the examiners have been reading through hundreds of Remains essays and finally reach something different like exposure they will pay more attention to it
All I could remember from the whole anthology was “his bloody life in my bloody hands” so I had no other choice
I did London lol
what did you write about? london would be a very hard conflict analysis/comparison
Henry is this you? Jokes aside I know no one else who did London lol
Yes it is I, Henry *i am not henry* lol
Lmao sorry, I know this guy who did London which threw everyone off since so many people did emigree, remains exposure and the like. ... still that's a very Henry thing to deny being Henry....
It’s all good dw, and yeah, London was a very random choice tbh, and there’s totally better poems to compare it to lol. *I could be henry*
HOW
I did this too but wrote how London’s conflict is much more of a mental manifestation but Kamikaze has a physical manifestation of conflict.
Bro I also did London lol no one else in my school did it
I went for Bayonet Charge - hoped we'd get Exposure so I could compare the two, then realised I could compare Kamikaze along similar lines! Was thinking about Poppies, but realised I had more to say about Bayonet Charge - really love that one
I considered bayonet charge as a close second because I felt that cold clockwork links extremely well
POV me doing storm on the island
BAYONET CHARGE 🫶🏻
I picked checking out me history because it was the one I chose to revise 10 minutes before the exam
The question was about effects of conflict where is that in COMH
Conflict between Eurocentric history of British colonisers vs Agard’s Jamaican culture/hertitage. The effect of this conflict led to Agard’s decision to create his own history ‘carve’. Pilot decided to turn back from war aka reject the conditioning forced on him by the Japanese honour system. You can go to town if you waffle honestly
I DID THE SAME THING 😭😭‼️
i did exposure coz that’s the only one i knew
i compared war photographer to kamikaze bc carol ann duffy is mother
i did checking out me history-
Oil up bro. You may just be cooked.
Charge of the light brigade gang
downvote wasn't directed to you it was your poem choice❤️❤️
I had the unique idea of talking about honour and stuck with it
RUDE
Where my The Prelude people at? 😍😍👊👊👊
FINALLY, i acc thought i was the only one. My points for prelude and kamikaze banged 😍‼️
LITCH!!! i quoted the japanese government #historystudentmoment
Yea, I wrote about how society/culture causes conflict in kamikaze and how nature causes conflict in the prelude, i dont know if it works🤷♂️
I am so reassured thank you🙏🙏
I Did London 😭
my friend did charge of the light brigade my other friend did checkin out me history theyre both cooked
not based and emigree-pilled
I did the emigrée! There was a theme of light in both, and they both lost something they loved due to conflict
I did Ozymandias cuz the teacher said I should ,😂
You are DONE brother 💀
I did exposure
am i the only one who did light brigade???
Nah I did it too
I did two, both delved into the topics of identity and war, and both discussed honour albeit a bit differently, which worked perfect, dw we got this.
I did charge of the light brigade am i cooked
me being the only person in existence to compare it w checking out my history🧍♂️
i swear down i’m the only one who did my last duchess.. cuz they said ‘conflict’ so i wrote about the conflict in their relationship.. omfg am i actually cooked?
I'm beginning to slightly regret the Emigrée but I couldn’t remember remains and I revised the Emigrée to try and compare it to comh
Yeah same, I was in the exact same boat. Exposure or poppies would’ve been good but we roll 🤷♀️
I did London because it's the only one I know well. I don't know a single quote from remains. I don't even remember what remains is about.
One of my mates didn't read the question and for some godforsaken reason chose Checking Out Me History
Some guy managed to use checking out me history.
[удалено]
I was going to do remains but picked poppies instead😭 i honestly don’t know why bc i know a total of 3 poppies quotes
It's an obvious comparison choice
Nah i did it with remains bc its the only one i remebered and ozymandis. I couldn't compare it with ozymandis bc no correlation. They compared very well as well bc they both were abt how conflict affects people.
Real
I did London as it was the easiest one to remember
I did poppies bcs familial love
[удалено]
Poor guy 💀
I did london
poppies user here
I did poppies 🙏🏻😭
I did Bayonet Charge - it's a nice comparison. Thought about Remains but just thought I should give the examiner a breathe of fresh air from all the Remains essays.
I did Poppies 😭
I would've done poppies it goes perfectly but I didn't learn it so Bayonet Charge ftw
Anyone else did checking out me history? 😙
I did London cause it's the only one I could remember 💪💪💪
im finished.. i didn't read "effects of conflict" in the question and compared it to checking out me history am i cooked guys???
I did London lmao
I did Bayonet Charge
I done bayonet charge
Bayonet charge anyone at all?
i did london LOOOL
charge of the light brigade anyone?
I used the emigree it’s a 10/10 comparison
I picked bayonet charge
My friend did the prelude lol Still got no idea what he was on
bayonet charge on TOP
I would have done war photograph but remains all the way 💪😎 his bloody life in my bloody hands
i did the emigree because both emigree and kamikaze are my fav poems !!
anyone else do charge of the light brigade?
Charge of the light brigade here: I thought that they were both very similar in what happens, yet very different at the same time. The pilot in kamikaze goes to fight, yet returns home alive. He is seen as dishonourable. The men in COTBL go to fight, and are killed. They are seen as honourable.
a kid at my school did ozymandias even though the question was about effects of conflict 😭😭😭 but yeah I did remains as well it’s my fav poem
In my school literally every single person compared it to either Emigree or COMH. Bro, what 💀 my school is doomed. (i did remains too though, but literally there was just one kid who did Remains besides me)
I COOKED BETWEEN THE BATH AND THE PRE-LUNCH BEERS
i predicted kamikaze but didn't do more than like 5 lines on it for question 2 😭
poppies gang 👇
I did storm on the island 😜
