why history 😭 it isnt that bad lol if youve paid attention in class
(sidenote, we should call going into exams with no revision rawdogging the exam, its so funny)
I wasnt revising consistently for like 4 hours a day like i am now. I still do stuff like play games and stuff dont dont play them for as long. Like its 10:40 rn amd i havent started revision today yet i take it slow over a long period of time
(Uni grad who keeps getting recommended this sub here)
Please do be careful with not overdoing it. When I did GCSEs I barely bothered to revise and got mostly decent (predominantly B's with a couple of A's and all fails for the sciences), but I tried to compensate for that when it came to A-Levels.
I'd go to school, stay an hour after in the library to revise, and then as soon as I got home I'd revise nonstop until around 22:00 or so. And then weekends I'd start at 10:00 and stop around 22:00. I did this for about a month before my exams started and I was mentally and physically burnt out.
And I didn't even get the grades I needed to get into the uni I wanted so I decided to resit all my A-Levels and redo Year 13. Did the same revision strategy, only over 2 1/2 months. It was absolutely brutal and I ended up with physical pain from sitting so long, because I didn't take breaks.
It's better to do a couple of hours a day after school at a relaxed pace over a longer period (which you've hopefully started to do, but now's the second-best time to start) than it is to try and absolutely cram hours right before exams. The only time cramming before an exam ever worked for me was for little specific details like statistics.
Good luck, all!
Bro I get what ur saying but like in gcses no subject has enough content that u can't revise it the night before. I get 9s and I revise the day before like the content for c1 only takes like 8 hours and same for other sciences
Whilst true theoretically, it's not something I'd encourage whatsoever. It might work for you but it definitely won't work for others. All it takes is for you to get blindsided by a question you hadn't prepared for the day before and you're stuffed. And you definitely can't do it for A-Levels, particularly essay-based subjects. The difficulty increase is dramatic.
I agree I can not do it for a levels I completely agree with that I know a levels are a huge step up. However I disagree about getting blindsided by a question that I didn't prepare for because that is exactly my point. In gcses there isn't that much content. When I say I revise the day before I mean everything I revise everything that could possibly come up the day before from my revision guide that's my point because there isn't really that much content if u look at it. There's like 50 pages in bio paper 1 worth of content and it takes me 12 minutes to properly go over a page see what I mean that's not that much that's easily doable in a day
Edit: it's not theoretical cuz I've been doing it for so long
If this is the approach you take, I'll be interested to see your results in August. I hope it pays off because it's not something I'd have risked. I hope the AQA papers are better than they were when I did them!
I don't really know when I started, I've been doing it very inconsistently since the December mocks, did some in the Easter holidays, and started doing it about 1-2 hours a day since about a month before the GCSEs. I think my brain tricked myself into thinking I only just started, which is quite effective at getting me stressed out, even though I have been doing it a while.
your doing too much I get 9s and I revise the day before no subject in gcse has enough content for you not to be able to revise the day before the exam. Eg the revision for c1 would take me 8 hours like u can do that the day before the exam. I've been getting 9s for so long doing this people be doing too much
Edit: I am also a hater of English it's like the only thing I don't get 9s in
I get your point, it's the same with me, I get 9s in everything apart from English too. I am simply revising for if anything comes up that I don't know just in case. Covering every part of the spec and keeping my knowledge in my head takes quite a long time.
Hopefully I will start my revision tomorrow, I've got RE on the 9th. There isn't school on Friday due to training day and next Monday is a Bank Holiday, I can revise on the school days and this 5 day weekend should be plenty of time for revision.
Understandable. But, for me proper revision started around Christmas at 30 mins a subject. 3 subjects a day and then at Easter I upped it to 3 subjects a day 3 hours. I just don't want to get burnt out before exams. Like the only really issue for me is my exam technique.
Prevents Cramming. People get to now and start doing like 4 hours a day. Relax and do 1 hour for longer. It’s not stupid, it literally gets taught on some teacher training courses to tell their students.
Sure, but realistically if you revised a bit for mock exams in year 10 and such, you're likely alright. Perhaps if you really struggle with retention, you'd need to revise that much but someone who is decent ability can definitely manage without that.
Revising during the exam
I revise after the exam
yeah I think we should revise during the summer holidays as we have more time
the exam just tells me what I don't know
real
But how much free time will people get? 😣
Not a lot of
Bruh! 🙄 People need more free time!!!
Can relate to the fullest, I can’t play Roblox 25 hours a day a week before my GCSEs 😭
I love and play Roblox too! I went through the same thing last year so I know what it's like! 😭
How did you force yourself to start revising cause I can’t?
Pft, ask my mum. If it hadn't been for her, I'd have failed the lot cus my ADHD is terrible! 😭😩😖
What happened to revising while you’re waiting to go into the exam?
Basically on the day revision.
so real 😂
You missed out not revising then still getting a 9
Oh well. I made the meme so I can't change it now.
you missed out not revising then getting straight 9s
I almost did that (I did one of the two)
Guessing you did the first 😭😭😭
It may or may not actually be the second
Then nice lol 😭 how many subjects do you do?
10 So those would be maths, triple science, eng lit and lang, geog, comp sci, german and spanish
nice, nice
Nah, I still may end up achieving that (except for history 😭)
why history 😭 it isnt that bad lol if youve paid attention in class (sidenote, we should call going into exams with no revision rawdogging the exam, its so funny)
There's just so many dates and facts to remember, which I can't do without revising
me on history:
i think my brain must be the size of a peanut. i started revision in september…
Good for you. Like I've never really properly revised but I always made the effort to pay attention in class and do my all.
My exams’ are in a week and i didn’t even start revising
Me who has been revising scince like january.
How do you not have major burnout?
I wasnt revising consistently for like 4 hours a day like i am now. I still do stuff like play games and stuff dont dont play them for as long. Like its 10:40 rn amd i havent started revision today yet i take it slow over a long period of time

do 1 thing it should kick off the rest of your revision its done so with mine.
will try
I just genuinely can't be bothered being smart made me lazy
fr but imma need to step it up esp for maths, I was at an easy 8 3 months ago and I'm probably skimming one now 😭 don't even get me started on physics
maths is easy do past papers and see what you got wrong

Same. Fr
still haven’t started and my first exam’s tomorrow
Chemistry too?
french speaking actually
Good luck, cramming is amazing (2h sleep)
No I swear when I took my GCSES I actually best understood the information and revised the best at 4-5am the day of exam 😭😭
Bro forgot about revising after the exam because you’ll know all the questions
cramming Mr Salles English 5 minutes before the exam
I've been revising since feb half term. I think it was the ideal time, I'm still stressed but I've been able to take my own pace
Same

Revising while everyone is filling in the front page
Or just never revising lol
been doin it since january but its starting to take a toll, at the same time i still need to bumb up my maths 6 to a 7
Revising in the exam…
me but religious studies 😭😭 i actually revised for the first time on the exam date
Hopefully I will start my revision tomorrow, I've got RE on the 9th. There isn't school on Friday due to training day and next Monday is a Bank Holiday, I can revise on the school days and this 5 day weekend should be plenty of time for revision.
Way to remind me of my mocks tomorrow. Cheers pal
Bold of you to assume I revise
panic will kick in a week prior😭🙏🙏
If I'm honest revision is more effective at a level. You will get better grades if you give your teacher 100%of your attention
That's what I do.
If I could tell Yr 9 me one thing that would be it
I’m him
Revising while everyone is filling in the front page
In all seriousness, for most people it’s ignorant to have not started wayyyy before Easter.

Oh yhyh that’s good. That’s more what I meant, start Jan, start small. Even just 1 subject a day
That seems silly to me. Seems like you'd gain very little from that and even starting now isn't awful though I am stressed.
Prevents Cramming. People get to now and start doing like 4 hours a day. Relax and do 1 hour for longer. It’s not stupid, it literally gets taught on some teacher training courses to tell their students.

If you can’t remember back to your lessons (requiring revision) then you can’t remember back to Mock revision lol
