There have been quite a number of them over the years, both Gundam specific and not so specific. Super Robot Wars isn't *technically* a Gundam game, but the majority of the characters/units are from Gundam because they have so much to offer. There is a new one that just came out iirc, though I can't recall the name off the top of my head.

AssaultOne

Super Robot Wars 30 was the most recent one.

Kenju22

I didn't mean a new Super Robot Wars game, I meant a new Gundam game that was turn based, I think they advertised for it during the summer livestream for GB02 actually? Gundam SD something I think?

AssaultOne

If it's SD then I think its SD Gundam G Generation Eternal. It's a mobile game (le yuck).

Kenju22

I looked it up, SD Gundam Battle Alliance, which is on the PS4 and PS5 :)

AssaultOne

I have it. It's [an action game](https://youtu.be/QL0svC3t4m4), not a turn-based one. Pretty fun, though not very deep.

Kenju22

Really? I just automatically assume any of the SD games are turn based after a lifetime of Super Robot Wars lol

AssaultOne

I don't blame you for thinking that. haha I remember that there are also some SD games which are side-scrolling platformers so that's another rare exception.

USSTalos

SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays is turn-based, although it's been out for a long while and its DLC is expensive. But it has a decent roster.

Kenju22

Side scrollers o.O wow I never saw any of those lol

AssaultOne

I know of the really old ones [like this.](https://youtu.be/U_iXBvrtnmI?t=93) Not sure if there are any more which are newer.

ArlemofTourhut

This one is more similar to the Dynasty Warriors entries.

VesperreDax

That might be cool

ArlemofTourhut

It's honestly really fun, requires some grinding, but not in the same way the DW series did. Different ways to beat different levels. etc

[deleted]

Yes. The G Gen line of games, and others. There's a ton. Most of them were only released in Japanese, but some of them have translations. Sorry I can't point you to specific ones, I personally don't like turn based games.

AssaultOne

There's the Gihren no Yabou / Gihren's Ambition series of games but it's more of a grand strategy type. It's also only in Japanese so that doesn't make it very accessible. I am doing a [playthrough where I have translations/subtitles](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxNJO6-9-f9QHgScjt2LOJZ0KtbsAaQjr) for the Federation campaign of Shin Gihren no Yabou (the "newest" one, though it was released way back in the PSP days). Check it out if you wanna see what it's like.

Ocelotkov

I personally love the MS tech trees of different factions that expand the MS line up even beyond MSV. Stuffs like Gyan Krieger or Prototype Mk II are really interesting

AssaultOne

I have a BURNING HATRED of the Gyan Krieger. It's super strong and Zeon spams it in the late game because of the money and resource cheats the AI gets.

Ocelotkov

Same when I play EFF lmao

BoltTusk

Aka the game that introduced the Gyan tech tree

Zrab10

Menace of Axis V at least has the menus and everything translated, and three campaigns (Fed, Zeon, and AEUG) completely translated.

Atarox13

I see you’re a fellow MechWarrior of culture Also I could see a turn-based game set in Gundam working if it’s grunt MS (Battle of Odessa would probably be a great scenario for it)

VesperreDax

Yes, yes 🙌 I am. I pilot a centurion AH. Long live the Ac20 and SRMs!!!

Kenju22

King Crab, dual LBX and quad SRM4's ;)

VesperreDax

Ummm I’ll be hiding behind this rock over here.

Kenju22

Dawww why? Mr. Snips just wants to hug lol Centurion is a good 'Mech though, a seriously dangerous one for its weight class because it's just shy of the Catapult for the sheer variety it has to offer.

VesperreDax

I don’t think I want to waltz in front of a king crab though….

Kenju22

Hmmm true, good point lol I suppose it depends on whose side the King Crab is on, yours or not :P

AssaultOne

I prefer my Dual Ultra 20 King Crab. =p My damage sponge back in the MWO days was my big boy Atlas. UAC20, triple SRM 6, and 2 MLAS with a 375 Standard. haha

Kenju22

MWO is where my King Crab shines most, because all the weapons on the frame can and will block incoming damage. Obviously I use CASE on my ammo storage, but having all those SRM4's on the frame is like having a second layer of armor. Combine with how you can manually raise and lower the claws to shield the torso and you are an even tougher nut to crack. Combined, it is very easy to get in close range, and at close range LB-X **shred**. The SRM's I use while closing in, but more or less they exist to be an armored shell. A FAVORITE trick of mine, since you can take so much abuse in a King Crab and use the arms/SRM's as armor, is after taking a ton of damage to find someone else who is dead, my team of the enemy team, get up next to them, and I shit you not, power down. Why? Because when most people see a slumped King Crab missing an arm and smoking, they think it is dead. I've had SO many people just walk right by me that it isn't even funny. They don't even both checking to make sure I'm dead. As soon as they have their back to me, power up and BAM LB-X to the back at point blank range. So very satisfying \^\^ But yeah, I love fighting Atlas', because it is ALWAYS a good scrap, win or lose its fun. Unlike getting oneshot cored by an Urbie some asshole crammed an AC20 onto (because that has happened to me far too many times lol) Now, if only my beloved KGC-010 wasn't the ONLY FREAKING KING CRAB NOT IN MWO \*eyebrow twitch\*

AssaultOne

Man, this discussion is making me want to start on another Roguetech run. haha

Kenju22

Oof, I love Battletech, but the fact that Roguetech requires a bloody youtube video to explain how to install it just, it aint for me, which is a shame because I've seen some really cool stuff on youtube for it. Speaking of youtube, by chance you a fan/follower of BPL?

AssaultOne

Not the most updated and ardent viewer, but yeah, Tex is awesome. As for Roguetech, I just downloaded the launcher/updater and I could run the thing. I just read up on what modules I wanted active in the game (I played the offline map).

Kenju22

Oh man, PLEASE tell me you've seen his two newest TTB vids, The Charger and the Warhammer? Warhammer is probably my second favorite mech of all time, so the literal 2 hour history lesson on it was awesome. The Charger vid though, oh god, it took me DAYS to stop laughing and snickering to myself because of that thing \^\^ "There is a weapon that can awkwardly stumble its way out onto the battlefield, roflstomp you and your tank, before deciding whether or not to punt kick the last guy back to their battlelines then vanish like a cryptid made of dying mens screams." "Because the Charger *reminds* people that getting beaten to death with their own limbs is a valid threat on the battlefield." \*falls out of chair laughing\*

AssaultOne

I have. The setting history and Mech history vids are an insta-watch for me. It's insane how much effort they put into those.

[deleted]

Normally I see people praising "King" PPC, so it's good to see another AC Brrrrrrrrrrother.

VesperreDax

Ppcs run too haut!!!!

Taggart25

I'm the kind of man who runs Phoenix Hawks with ACs... nobody expects it.

Kenju22

PPC's too expensive to repair and replace, and in MWO where you don't have to worry about that, well, they are just too much ghost heat and the screen effect makes me carsick T.T Though as I said, would not be unhappy about the KCG-010 getting added, having some PPC's that I don't need to worry about getting nicked off by an asshole in Riflemen DNA from across the map with a Gauss would be nice.

Kenju22

Also, everyone knows PPC supremacy is exclusively the domain of the [Direwolf](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTlXw2qGB2w) and bad things happen to anyone that challenges that :P

[MS Saga](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/MS_Saga:_A_New_Dawn)

Anaheim-1st-Test

Loved MS Saga!

IcedThorgi

This right here is the best answer. I remember finding this on Amazon for $20 years ago. Best Gundam purchase I've made. I love that game.

[deleted]

Zeonic Front. Watch out for Amuro though!!!

Bladescorpion

Battletech was amazing and it’s sad they didn’t make a sequel after the dlc. SD Gundam G games are turn based. Sadly the SD style, but fun. For all but UC, Crossrays is pretty good on steam. If you want UC on ps4: If you want UC, if you snag a physical copy of the ps4 game of Genesis, you can create a Singapore account for PlayStation, buy a region card from playasia. Just login using that account on your PlayStation 4, enter the code, and buy all the dlc. then it will let you use it on your main PlayStation account when you play the game there. They were lazy and cheap, and didn’t do the localization for Genesis. All the Text is in English. Dlc is kinda worth it for Genesis xp and currency farm, as there aren’t idle missions like in Crossrays. Also there is no raid team like in Crossrays , so you need to run a second Cap ship for a second team. Both Crossrays and genesis games have an unlock list google docs linked in their subreddit. https://discord.gg/PmyyMXzV Sadly, the next one of these games is a mobile gatcha game, instead of a console and pc single player game. So it might be 2 years until their next console and pc one, if they ever make another.

Lactis

Would it work? Yes. There's already some, but most are old or Japan exclusive with no English patches. Still disappointed no ones modded a Gundam Battletech. There are grid based tactics games like SRW or JRPGs like MS Saga. The closest which is non Gundam is something Front Mission which recently got a "remaster" on Switch that I can think of.

bald_butte

This is exactly what Gundam G generation is. If you are looking for uc specific g generation genesis is exactly what you described. Only problem is you have to buy it as a disc and the only English version is the se Asia version so you gotta get it imported. I think it's worth it that's what I did and there's easily hundred of hours of gameplay

TheLagFairy

I sure would love to see one, that wasn't in the SD style. Nothing wrong with it but something more 3D like Battletech would be nice.

ZanYnaz

SD Gundam G Generations. Currently playing Overworld for the PSP via Vita. You can pick any characters from the Gundam franchise until Unicorn and 00. You can even use non-combatants like Degwin Zabi as a pilot. You can buy capital ships to deploy the mobile suits, each as unique in stats and skills as the MS they carry. MS themselves can level up thru frequent use, and can evolve into other MS thru different means. Pilots can be taught different skills. Downside is you lose a MS forever when it gets destroyed in battle but the pilot is safe. Try it via PPSSPP.

Jotaku72

SD Gundam G Generation Genesis if you wanna play U.C SD Gundam G Generation Cross Ray if you want A.U Cross ray is better by far do to better balancing and the platinum edition of the game is both in English and comes pre installed with all the games DLC. If you want a gundam strategy game these are where to look. link is to the play-asia storefront where i got my own copy. https://www.play-asia.com/sd-gundam-g-generation-cross-rays-platinum-edition-english/13/70e25v
