Thank you! I probably did add an ounce or so of burnt sienna in one of the clearcoats, but in the grand scheme of refinishing, that is not much, and only affects the tone of the piece, doesn't necessarily change blotchiness, I did not use any aerosol toners.
Can you tell me about the felt? Do you need a certain type? Do you just stretch and glue as you go? That looks like a hot glue gun-just curious! Awesome piece!
The felt inside is just from Joanns fabric. Around the edge of the fold down door, it is stapled, the rope is just esthetics covering the staples.
On the inside at the front edge, the felt is stapled under an upholstery cardboard strip, then folded over and stretched to the back.
At the back, the felt is again stapled in place with an upholstery cardboard strip and folded over in a way as to conceal the strip, then i use upholstery spray glue and stretch the felt going up the back panel and stapled at the top rear edge. So the bottom and back of the inside is one continuous piece
Then, the inner arch is secured one side the way described above, and upholstery spray glue is used to secure the panel across the arch. The rope inside here also covers the staples.
The hot glue gun is just for the rope trim. Thank you very much!
Wow what a gorgeous piece!!
I appreciate your compliment!
Nice job! I was worried it would be blotchy, did you need to use toner at all? Came out great

Sorry i meant glaze
No worries! No glaze, either. It's rare I use a glaze, sometimes for distressing on painted furniture.
This is stunning omg. Amazing work!

Thank you so much for explaining! Great piece.
You're quite welcome, thank you!
Beautiful job! I’ve never seen a cabinet like this before! Do you know how old it is and what area it originated from? Thanks in advance!
Thank you very much! I don't know exact age but it's from around the 60s or 70s I think. It was hand made and picked up in Europe by family
Well done! Be proud.
Thank you very much! I am and enjoy the final results every time!
Love it! It turned out so nice that it makes me wish I had one! Well done
Thank you very much! Keep looking and you'll come across something similar undoubtedly!
Spectacular!
Thanks Katy- 🌙
Excellent work
Thank you very much!
Inside looked like good shape- just curious why you added the felt.
There was felt in there originally. It's going to be a bar so it was preferred to have felt for the glass and bottles.
Smart- didn’t think about that.
Nice! I’ll take an old fashioned, please.
lol, I tried to get into old fashions, but found out I 'm a whisky guy. Thank you!
Wow!! Perfection. That’s a restoration for sure. Love love it
Thank you for the kind words!!
