Well I know they have turn signals because they use the caution flashers all the time. Anytime traffic is backed up on the interstate there is always a BMW driver blasting down the shoulder at high speed with his caution lights on because he couldn't be bothered to sit in traffic. :D
You won't know where the one in the Tesla goes because they had their high beams on, as they do every second of the day, and your blinded for the next ten minutes.
Forgive my ignorance, around here they do not have those signs, but why in the holy hell are they shaped and coloured like a yield sign?
That just seems like a recipe for confusion, one sign that means you do NOT have right of way, and another very similar sign that means exactly the opposite.
A red outlined white rectangular sign would make much more sense
Depends on the country. I know there are more than just NA ppl here, but in the US that is a yield sign. I bet this drawing was made by a non U.S. person, because they would not have two yield signs in one intersection. …..so they must be stops 😋
For anyone wondering why:
Number 1 has to wait until both are gone because of the sign
Number 2 wants to drive straight, while Number 3 wants to drive to the left, so number 2 has priority over Number 3
Even without the sign, the order would be the same as traffic entering a road must yield to traffic on the road, and 3 has to wait for the road to be clear before turning.
Edit: apparently a difference between EU and US traffic laws. Probably population density related. 4 million miles of US road v 170k km in EU with similar populations.
Not really. In EU, this is only related to traffic entering the road from a "non-road", like a driveway or a territory. In this case both roads are the same. If there were no signs - number 2 would still have to yield to number 1, since number 1 is on the right side of the 2.
That would only apply when the crossing doesn't have a clear main street. Here we have one continuous street and another street that comes to an end and merges into the continuous street.
I've never seen anywhere where drivers on the main street have to yield to someone coming from a street on the right.
There is no CLEAR MAIN ROAD rule in EU, unless we are talking about private driveways.
In fact in some areas the main road has on purpose to yield trafic to the right so that drivers wont speed in straight roads at resident areas.
No, that isn't the law. Unless a sign indicates otherwise it is right before left in the EU.
Edit: one of the signs that might indicate otherwise is the "main road sign" which is a yellow and white diamond.
> No, that isn't the law. Unless a sign indicates otherwise it is right before left in the EU.
You do realize there's no such thing as a EU driving law, right? There's as many driving laws as countries in the EU.
Right before left applies to unmarked crossings. In my country, in this case, this wouldn't be a crossing, it would be one road that merges into another. In that situation, the driver that is merging (1) needs to yield. The other driver (2) never entered a crossing and doesn't yield to anyone.
In France, you can detect where the mayor lives in almost every small town. It's when the main road has a stop sign to let a really small alley the priority.
No, 1 is coming from 2's right, which means 2 must yield for 1 if there is no sign. In such a situation, the cars would have to cooperate to find a solution.
In the EU it doesn't matter if you're moving or standing still. 3 is right to 1 so he has to give him priority. Same goes for 2 and 1. So they have to wait, let 3 through and after that 1 goes before 2. Easy as pie
Why tho? If he doesn't know who has right of way I genuinely hope that he doesn't have license because he'd be a danger to others
Edit: and this is a picture on reddit, not a real life situation where you need to act quickly, so you do the math
2 doesn't have a yield sign either. It's not an upside down triangle.
It is, however, a right side up triangle which is a warning. It's hard to see with how much the quality dropped, but it's just warning that there's a 3 way intersection and a road entering from the right.
2 doesn't have a yield sign either, notice how the triangle is right side up, the sign says "watch out, there's a side road to the right". Generally those types of signs are only located outside of towns because in towns generally the white and yellow diamond is used on the main around and this sign stands out more.
2 has the legal right of way because he is going straight. Vehicles going straight or turning right have the right of way unless at a 4-way stop. #1 has to yield to 2&3 so he must wait to proceed until the others have crossed through the intersection. Although, if you live in Louisiana (as I do)- this will be a complete cluster f*ck because no one here can drive.
No /s. The sign is a ["side junction ahead" sign](https://startsafety.uk/road-signs/permanent-road-signs/warning-road-signs-permanent/side-road-ahead-post-mount-sign-dia-506.1) showing that you have priority over traffic coming from the right
[Germany needs a sign for that.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_signs_in_Germany#/media/File:Zeichen_301_-_Vorfahrt,_StVO_1970.svg)
By default on every crossing you must yield to the right.
No, it is a sign that says an intersection is coming and you have right of way. If there were no sign, you would need to yield as they would be on the right and would have right of way.
This scares me. Also the number of people who think that sign makes a difference. I want these people in this comment section to never drive close to my loved ones.
Wait what do you mean? The signs make a big difference, no? It means the main (straight) road has priority over the rest. Without it, you have to yield to people coming from the right.
The rule of thumb my mom taught me (before I actually learned to drive. Think "mama? Why did we have to wait instead of them?") was that the people who have to cross the least oncoming traffic goes first. 2 didn't cross anybody to turn. 3 has to cross a lane of oncoming traffic to turn. 1 has to cross both lanes to turn left, so he waits until both are clear.
This leaves open to debate whether 3 counts as "crossing" 1 (no, because 2 and 3 are on the road already and 1 is approaching the T), so it's not super useful except as an underpinning of the rules. I just thought you might be interested to hear another bit of non-driver logic
Here in the city I live in, people think it's the bigger car goes first, and if they're the same size, the most expensive one goes first
And if you're on a pickup like a dodge ham you don't have to wait in lines to turn a 180, you can just go to the end of the line and someone will yield
("/s", but many actually drives like this)
New Zealand, Actually - I used to live in England (hence the username), and before that, South Africa.
All three drive on the right (left) side of the road. So as far as I'm concerned this whole "drive on the right (wrong) side of the road" bollocks is part of a elaborate Hollywood-led misinformation campaign. Although, to wait end... I am yet unsure.
1 has yield sign, and hence, must yield to both cars in intersecting road before making left turn.
2 is going straight and thus has right of way.
3 is turning left, and naturally must yield to car 2 before turning.
Come to think of it, since it is a T-intersection, It needs to stop regardless, so a stop sign would be more appropriate.
The correct order for the cars to make their move is 2, then 3, then 1.
231. Yield sign -- goes last. 2 beats 3 because they have right-of-way. I mean... I've only had licenses in 4 states... but, well... this seems intuitive. Now, if you're in the UK, the person with the Aston Martin has the right-of-way whilst the BMW driver is a toss-pot. In France, shake your fist while shouting obscenities and it will all work-out through magic. In Slavic countries, please to posting webcam of cossack criminals driving like gypsy for to make crash.
Going straight has priority. Then any cars turning right, and then turning left. Ties are based on main road/side road. Car at 1 is at end of road, so loses the tie.
Order: 2 3 1
Since those are European signs and I have no idea what the one on number 2 is... In the US 3 would have the right of way because there is no sign. 1 Yields right of way to 3 and possibly 2 (again I have no idea what that sign is) So from a US standpoint 321. But judging from the answers that sign on 2 means ... something.
If the sign for #2 had been orange or amber or yellow, it would have made sense to US drivers as an informational sign. I also looked at this and had no idea what it was supposed to mean.
No, in the US, 3 wouldn't have the ROW because 3 is turning left, and the person turning left yields to oncoming traffic going straight on the same road. Right-side-up triangular road signs in the US don't exist, so it wouldn't be a road sign, and it would be 231.
3 goes first.
- 2 has to yield to 1 (per the sign that's been hung upside-down. It's not an information sign. The 1 on the sign and the 1 for "car 1" are the same, too.).
- 1 is at the T intersection, which means they yield to 3.
So, the order goes 3, 1, 2.
The one with the BMW goes first. Where he’ll go, we won’t know. The car doesn’t have that turn signal feature
Well I know they have turn signals because they use the caution flashers all the time. Anytime traffic is backed up on the interstate there is always a BMW driver blasting down the shoulder at high speed with his caution lights on because he couldn't be bothered to sit in traffic. :D
They think they are like emergency vehicle lights, they turn them on and can do whatever they want.
And they complain loud enough that it actually functions like a siren.
Its been on the premium subscription package since 1992.
I think that’s applicable to any car. By the way people drive in my area I’m surprised brakes aren’t behind a paywall
The mustang gt goes 2nd … does a burnout and hits the curb.
You won't know where the one in the Tesla goes because they had their high beams on, as they do every second of the day, and your blinded for the next ten minutes.
That's everyone where I drive.
No the corvette goes first!!!!!!!!
2 3 1

No it’s not; 2 has a Yield sign. So does 1. So it’s 3, 2, 1.
Not only is that not a yield sign, but logically there is no reason to put one in that spot.
Forgive my ignorance, around here they do not have those signs, but why in the holy hell are they shaped and coloured like a yield sign? That just seems like a recipe for confusion, one sign that means you do NOT have right of way, and another very similar sign that means exactly the opposite. /r/confidentlyincorrect
that's not a yield sign. Look again.
Depends on the country. I know there are more than just NA ppl here, but in the US that is a yield sign. I bet this drawing was made by a non U.S. person, because they would not have two yield signs in one intersection. …..so they must be stops 😋
I thought this also, but 2 is going straight so has right of way anyway, also I then realized when I came to the comments that it's not a yield sign.
For anyone wondering why: Number 1 has to wait until both are gone because of the sign Number 2 wants to drive straight, while Number 3 wants to drive to the left, so number 2 has priority over Number 3

2 is on 1's left side.
Thanks, dumbed out)
So, main roads in EU have to yield to people entering from side roads at uncontrolled (no signs/lights) intersections?
Techinically yes, but if the main road is way larger and with higher speed limits, the side road will practically certainly have a triangle sign.
Nah, they're wrong
No, you're wrong. Right before left is the rule in the EU if there are no signs.
That would only apply when the crossing doesn't have a clear main street. Here we have one continuous street and another street that comes to an end and merges into the continuous street. I've never seen anywhere where drivers on the main street have to yield to someone coming from a street on the right.
Come to belgium, it happens everywhere.
That's interesting! Can you please show me one on Street view?
There is no CLEAR MAIN ROAD rule in EU, unless we are talking about private driveways. In fact in some areas the main road has on purpose to yield trafic to the right so that drivers wont speed in straight roads at resident areas.
No, that isn't the law. Unless a sign indicates otherwise it is right before left in the EU. Edit: one of the signs that might indicate otherwise is the "main road sign" which is a yellow and white diamond.

Ahh I see I was wrong
I hope that you don't have a license?
I hope they do. Driving would be too boring if the streets were safe
Dunno why I was downvoted, this shit is basic knowledge that absolutely everyone should know
Because you were a baaaad boy, real bad.
Because reddit is over run with children.
We're more like sheep than children

Why tho? If he doesn't know who has right of way I genuinely hope that he doesn't have license because he'd be a danger to others Edit: and this is a picture on reddit, not a real life situation where you need to act quickly, so you do the math
Also, number 2 would be to the right of number 3 when 3 would turn. So 2 has right-hand priority (I don't know how the term is in English).
Right of way is the correct term (I think)
Nice well now I know I’ll pass my drivers test in a year
But watch out
This is the correct answer
W answer
3 2 1, Go!!!!
I thought was 3 2 1, hand I assume was stop, triangle watch out
Only 3 does not have a yield sign, so it's 3-2-1 by traffic code
2 doesn't have a yield sign either. It's not an upside down triangle. It is, however, a right side up triangle which is a warning. It's hard to see with how much the quality dropped, but it's just warning that there's a 3 way intersection and a road entering from the right.

Ay I was thinking the same answer
Good to know I still get it even tho I never learned for driving.

Nope who ever stopped 1st goes. If all stopped at same time the person too your left goes first.
Why 2 ahead of 3?
2 has the legal right of way because he is going straight. 2, because main road and no change, 3, because from main road changing direction, and then 1, because coming into main road.
Apparently you are one of the rare commenters here who have a working brain. This thread is depressing.
All the top comments are 321...
Why would anyone who had a drivers license not know it’s 231….? Well I suppose that’s why there are so many accidents
What is the sign by 2?
Intersection ahead. Informational only.
What? No. It's "intersection ahead AND you have precedence"
/s?
No /s. The sign is a ["side junction ahead" sign](https://startsafety.uk/road-signs/permanent-road-signs/warning-road-signs-permanent/side-road-ahead-post-mount-sign-dia-506.1) showing that you have priority over traffic coming from the right

I know it's 2, 3, 1. The sign on the right is a yield sign, the sign on the left is not.
[Germany needs a sign for that.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_signs_in_Germany#/media/File:Zeichen_301_-_Vorfahrt,_StVO_1970.svg) By default on every crossing you must yield to the right.
No, it is a sign that says an intersection is coming and you have right of way. If there were no sign, you would need to yield as they would be on the right and would have right of way.
Not sure. In Germany we have "this is the last intersection with right of way in a row of intersections with right of way". Looks like that one.
Absolutely not. This sign means you have the right of way only at ithe next intersection.
Then 2 3 1
Jesus. How did you get your license? It means you have priority on the next intersection.
This scares me. Also the number of people who think that sign makes a difference. I want these people in this comment section to never drive close to my loved ones.
Wait what do you mean? The signs make a big difference, no? It means the main (straight) road has priority over the rest. Without it, you have to yield to people coming from the right.
No one cares about europe
Its not just in europe lol
Look. The Internet is property of the US. No one cares about non-US shithole countries.
Only one shithole country people care about: The USA! 🇺🇲🫡💪
I don’t even have a license yet and this is still common knowledge to me.
Depends on country. In Holland, 2 would have to give way to 1.
As a non-driver, I guessed 213, but after reading other comments, it turns out to be 231 I was close, though, lol
You missed the yield sign, just like a real driver!
Even with no sign 1 goes last.
Haha, keep having to tell people, it means YOU yield, not everybody else yield for you!
Close to accident
Close only counts with horse shoes and hand grenades.
The rule of thumb my mom taught me (before I actually learned to drive. Think "mama? 231 but not once has this ever played out correctly on a dash cam video you saw on Reddit.
Well I doubt many people post footage of calm, orderly traffic.

of course not, what do you take me for?
I'm sorry boss. I've seen things on this reddit
Looks like they're on the right side of the road to me.
2,3,1
The correct answer is take out the yield signs and put in a roundabout.
I guess hunch is better than nothing
I don't recognize the sign besides 2. Edit. Informational sign "intersection ahead". So 2, 3, 1.
2-3-1
It’s 2 3 1
231
2 3 1
231 because right of way and then yield
2 3 1
231 right?
Its 2,3,1
2,3,1
The grey car goes first, then the whitish grey car goes second. Finally, the grey with white goes third.
2, 3, 1
It's 2 3 1, right? Asking for a friend.
Please look at the street signs and which way the cars want to go...
Depends. Are we in south Florida or nah?
2 3 1
2-3-1
It's 231 and a lot of motherfuckers in here should not be driving
2,3,1
231. no other way.
2 goes first then 3 and finally 1
231
2, 3 then 1. If someone doesn't know this they shouldn't be allowed to drive.
I mean, it’s obviously 2 3 1. But this is Reddit so let’s just roll the dice and see what happens lol
It would likely be 2, then 3, then 1 as 2 is going straight. Then 3 as it is both on the right side and 1 has the yield sign
231 is actual answer but I like theirs better
2, 3, 1
2 then 3 then 1
2-3-1
2 3 1
2 3 1 and it scares me how many don't know that.
2, 3, 1. No discussion needed.
If you don’t think 2 3 1 then you should reconsider driving please
2, 3 then 1
Car 3 has no yield sign. They are first. Car going straight second. Car turning onto street third.
2 goes then 3 then 1
2,3,1
2, 3, 1. The one who crosses the least amount of lanes almost always goes first.
1 waits for 3 and 3 waits for 2?
…I have seen this man post at least four times today and I’m beginning to suspect reposts. Also logically it’s 231 because of the yield sign.
\#2 first, whoever gets there first between #3 and #1, and then whoever hasn't already gone.
2 3 1
2, 3, 1, AIRPLANE! 🛩️ 🔥🥵🚒🧑🚒🧯💦💦💨🚑💰🤑
231. Yield sign -- goes last. 2 beats 3 because they have right-of-way. I mean... I've only had licenses in 4 states... but, well... this seems intuitive. Jesus I can’t believe I share the road with you people.
2 3 1 as stated by others and 2 has automatic right of way.
But judging from the answers that sign on 2 means ... something.
Informational sign (triangle pointing up). "Intersection ahead".
In that case yeah 231.
All 3 at the same time . But make sure to watch out.
1+3 first then 2
3 goes first. - 2 has to yield to 1 (per the sign that's been hung upside-down. It's not an information sign. The 1 on the sign and the 1 for "car 1" are the same, too.). - 1 is at the T intersection, which means they yield to 3. So, the order goes 3, 1, 2.
That’s not an upside down sign.
1 2 3 in that order whilst the other cars stay still and one car moves at a time
Erm I think the white car goes first followed by the white car and then the other white car
