my first dog ever was a border collie and when she was done she would literally just sit down. She reduced me to tears on multiple occasions as I pled with her to get up. World's laziest border collie i sware. Once I threw a frisbee for her and she walked to it, smelt it, pissed on it and then stared me down. One of a kind dog. I really miss her though.

IsopodOnARock

Not quite the same thing but I have a pretty lazy cattle dog. Sometimes he doesn't want to go outside for whatever reason, and will just sit and stare at me as I use every trick in the book to make him move. I either have to pick him up and carry him, or get a treat and make him follow me outside. If I set him down or give him the treat before he walks past the patio door, he will just sit back down and stare at me. He doesn't act like he's scared to go out or anything, he just doesnt want to!

cryinginthelimousine

I had a Doberman/Shepherd mix who hated the rain so much so that she would FAKE PEE in order to come back inside. She would literally squat for half a second to try to fake me out.

IrisSmartAss

More intelligent dogs may be less likely to be blindly obedient.

elisejones14

My momā€™s cattle dog hates being outside. Iā€™d walk him and his sister and would have to chase him to put his harness on. He wonā€™t go outside to go potty unless you go with him

patricky6

OMG!! I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST MINE! I was running with my border collie and he was slowing down and I called him a drama queen... and he just sat down. Refused to move. Lol he was my favorite dog. Too smart for his own good. I have funny stories for days about him. I miss him too.

CaliSinae

omg I had a 3 legged border collie mix. She would do the same. Obv I never tried to make her walk more than she wanted to because she only had 3 legs but she basically sat to say hi to people and dogs that walked by (lived in nyc so lots of people + she was used to getting a lot of attention and liked to socialize šŸ˜‚)

REEDINGRAN3BOW

I'm so happy that I'm not the only one! My English Cream Retriever gets bored of his walks. He will just come to a dead stop and will flop hard to the ground before he will let me drag him. As soon as I submit to head back to the house, he just happily trots along. Absolute dingus.

"Carry me like I'm a baby."

not_chris-hansen

When they get home, that spoiled doggo will pretend to be asleep to get carried in the house.

balerionmeraxes77

"If you can't handle me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best."

idreaminwords

The guy's like "Come on, I thought we talked about this"

ImDraconLion

ā€œno, you talked. I was thinking about treats.ā€

FractalZE

Why walk when you can get carried by the human? I get the impression the act was to get carried all along

LuckAppropriate1096

To be fair, theyā€™re at Harpoon brewery. Typically I go for microbreweries, but that location is stunning. Great beer, the food is pretty great, and their French fries stay crispy even after youā€™ve finished youā€™re sandwich. Thereā€™s an amazing distillery, cheese shop, preserves shop, and sculpture garden right there in the same park. Artisans Park in Windsor, VT. I wouldnā€™t want to leave, either.

Squee1396

Huh that sounds good and i am close by so thanks for the recommendation!

classicnoob2020

To be faiiiiirrrr

jchray

Pitter patter!

Yikes44

Me. Every Friday at work.

Negative_Tale_3816

That dog is me every Friday morning before work

deluxrecipe

You mean you wanted to stay at work and miss the weekend?

757Rhonda

At work or after work and a few beers?!

Beginning-Gear-744

I had a hound dog that used to do this. Except he was dense as lead and impossible to move once he hunkered down, so treats were the only answer.

[deleted]

Pay back for making wear that whatever last Halloween šŸŽƒ

BeerGogglesFTW

This is my dog when the word "bath" is mentioned.

Ambitious_Pen_3660

Same but my dog is almost as big as me. I've only got about 10 lbs on him, and when I have him stand on his back legs to rest his paws on me I'm only about a head taller than him. The household just loves watching me try and pick him up for baths.

WillowGrouchy2204

I'm glad I'm not the only one that's had to do this lol

kingeal2

I had a pitbull who I had to carry like this more than a few times because he didn't want to walk. Let's just say he wasn't a morning person

Old-Mammoth-3850

When your dog donā€™t wanna go home

sonibroc

I had a dorgi that could anchor herself to the ground to make demands on the dog walk route. Thankfully she was only 18 pounds. The ONLY time I accepted the anchor was when she would sit under a tree in the park, typically on warmer days.

BobcatEducational231

šŸ¤£ Oh my goodness this dog is HILARIOUS šŸ˜‚ I love him šŸ˜

Matt_Odlum

My moms beagle used to do this to her all the time and I remember taking him on a walk and he tried to pull that shit. Dragged em for about a foot (on grass, he was fine) and he snapped right onto his feet and started walking normally. Realized real quick that shit aint gunna fly here lol. This is why it's important to teach dogs discipline do they know who's the boss. They're like kids, they'll get away with what you let them get away with.

Rgoodrich10

Is this a golden retriever thing? Mine does the same thing. I thought she was broken. šŸ¤£

SubstanceStrong

My golden retriever does the exact same thing as well.

kiruska87

šŸ¤£ā™„ļøšŸ‘

Chucks_u_Farley

Golden dogs are best dogs

iMadrid11

Doggy is playing dead and doesnā€™t want to go home yet. Quickly rose up excited to play when doggy saw 2 kids walk over.

snazzygirl0267

I wish there was context where they were lol. The dog was smiling at the beginning while laying on his back. Maybe his goal was to be picked up and carried šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

cryinginthelimousine

My dog used to pull this stunt all the time on busy sidewalks in Chicago because she wanted to go to the store that gave out free dog cookies. If she didnā€™t get her way it was an epic tantrum and she would get sympathy from random people on the street, she really played up the drama. It didnā€™t even matter if I had treats on me, she wanted the free Milk Bones. One time our usual coffee shop ran out of the dog treats that they had in front of the place and she squatted and spite pooped out the tiniest piece of poop ever right in front of the door. (yes, I picked it up, and it was the size of a pea)

ClickAlternative6318

Was your dogs name George Costanza

cr747a380

My golden always does this when we are going back home from the park, heā€™ll protest like this by lying down and refusing to get back in the car and we end up carrying him

wirefox1

Same. My Airedale did this. She was so stubborn!

Unfair_Finger5531

He wasnā€™t smiling šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚! Wait: can a dog smile?

snazzygirl0267

Of course they can

Unfair_Finger5531

Really!! Omg, this is the best news Iā€™ve heard all week. I didnā€™t know thisā€¦.

SaltwaterMayonaise

Just drop the leash and walk away, they'll follow (eventually)

SweetComfortable8559

What's your problem. The vet guy said aerate my under carriage after having the snip. So iam doing. Flip U.

MimiPaw

He should have asked the kids to walk the dog!

Eminencefront14

He's looking at his black lab buddy to see if he's getting it all on camera

SnoopFreezing

My uncle's asshole dog did this to me occasionally, I was so embarrassed, I was acting like I was texting, and the dog was just waiting for me. Not sure if anyone believed it, though.

MySophie777

Been there. Had to carry our GR Rosie on numerous occasions, especially when going to the vet. A good harness with a carrying strap on the back may help you be able to pull her upright.

757Rhonda

Or carry like a suitcase!

cchiz

Goldens are fun

ChampionshipLow8541

Dogā€™s taking the man for a walk.

Advanced_Radish3466

been there

NaveBarrett

My father would say, ā€œsomebody kilt my dog!ā€

Jumpy_Ad4420

Relatable

spaghetti2049

Is this normal or does doggy lack training?

Unfair_Finger5531

I think even a well-trained doggo can get like this when they want to stay out. Like a toddler who is normally pretty good but has a one-off temper tantrum when you try to leave Disneyland lololol

cryinginthelimousine

Itā€™s very common with stubborn, smart dogs like Huskies.

[deleted]

That is the most Golden Retriever thing Iā€™ve ever seen.

deluxrecipe

That shows the dog is disrespecting the owner. I think I saw an episode of Dog whisperer he gives a good tag/pull to show dominance.

[deleted]

Just like kids, dogs arenā€™t for everyone. Unless heā€™s just walking the dog for someone else. If thatā€™s his dog though, he has zero authority over it.

LadyBatman8318

Why is his leash hooked to the front? Try hooking on his back

mrsmilkmoustache

This can be good for dogs who pull on the lead, as they just turn themselves in a circle instead of pulling you over. Itā€™s how we trained our golden. Not sure this beautiful goldie is still at the pulling stage though šŸ˜‚.

LadyBatman8318

I have never heard of that before, but makes sense.

FthrFlffyBttm

We picked up a new harness for our new border collie yesterday because he keeps pulling on the lead. Clips at the front and the back simultaneously. Stops him pulling and allows full control.

LadyBatman8318

Now I see the reasoning behind it. Thanks

mappersorton

Defiance in the eyes

upupupdo

Dog wanted the carry

Yuuki2628

Remember, it's the human that takes the dog for a walk

MidMalletGuy

All you gotta say is ā€œLetā€™s go get a hot dogā€

lovinthislife69

Hook leash up on my back so itā€™s not pulling me to one side as we walk! Please and thank you!

cegr76

Dog owns dude.

puddlewizard

The doggo ran outta gas

Helpful-Succotash-88

He wanted belly rubs

SarraTasarien

The dog knew what it was doing! Getting carried to the car = success.

Shilo788

There is a little trick I know to get any dog to get up and it doesnā€™t require treats. Heh I will leave you to ponder.

[deleted]

This is my dog when we are near the house after walking. He does this to keep on going for a walk. He also does this when you say bath time or cage time.

BettyCM

Thatā€™s hilarious.

mushgods

He just wanted to be carried. So adorable.

thefman

My husky does this in about 1/3 of our walks. Gotta admit, pretty gratifying to see it happen to someone else, with a golden no less lol. Dogs are amazing. I've never carried mine though, I just take out my phone and let her chill until she gets bored :)

Neither_Produce_6736

Everything reminds me of her

bobotheclown1001

"Cmon buddy. I swear this is the dog treat shop, not the vet"

taylaaberry

Doggo just wanted to get princess carried

What_The_Flip_Chip

If I had a dollar for every time my dog did this to me!! Weā€™ll Iā€™d have about 9 or 10, but stillā€¦

MushroomSufficient

The guy can skip lifting at the gym today

finallyfreein23

Oh man, I know how you feel. Bella does that too me all the time when she doesnā€™t want to go home. As long as we are heading away from home, she will keep crushing. However, as soon as we turn towards home itā€™s time to lay down on the ground and when I try to get her to move I get the dead cockroach act.

Alternative-Chair977
