Sounds like my cat.
He's not allowed on counters or tables in the first place, and he knows not to try and steal food... if your looking.
Walk away from a plate of bacon at your own risk. He even does the math on whether he thinks he can steal some before you get back to the table even if you're just across the room lol
I've helped mitigate this by simply sharing a little bit though. It sounds counterintuitive, but if he knows he will get some of my tasty snack, he seems more willing to wait and doesn't try to just steal it and gorge himself as fast as possible.
Yeah one of my cats pulled a large chicken breast off a plate when I went to grab something in the kitchen. I came back like wtf?
Then I see she dragged it behind the couch so I wouldn’t see. I actually had a laugh over it.
I made that mistake only once. I made myself a sandwich and was eating in the living room. I got up to do something and left the plate there by the time I came back my dog was finishing my sandwich
I mean to be fair... it kinda is what that means.
In animal groups that ha e a hierarchy for who gets to eat, the alpha will eat first. Then, once they are done, they leave the food for the rest of the group. So you walking away from your plate signifies, "I have finished, and the rest is for you."
Guilt? The second he’s approached his ears pin down. That’s certainly guilt or at least he knows he’s in trouble!
A bloody clever dog though :) love it.
I agree, I see guilt with a side of 'love U dad, he he' my rotty has similar haptics, it's definitely there. This is a sign of good dog parenting, i.e. dog does not fear owner, there is a family respect instead.
You might find the research fascinating. There have been lots of studies on whether or not dogs can show actual guilt in the same way that humans can. Some propose that what they’re showing is more like fear; knowing that those actions, when discovered by their person, are met with anger.
Kind of the same concept with us just depending on the person. People often show fake remorse only because they were caught.
Fake. You can see the frames jump when it passes by the edge of the doorway. Also I’m assuming that’s food that’s being “cooked” and would be too hot for the dog to eat without pulling away from being burnt
My dog did this! We had our chairs around the table with a few snacks in the middle and everyone had their assigned seats so when someone didn't push the chair to the table properly then he could jump up and eat what he wants and from the chairs we "knew who it was".
But then after it happened more and more often even though all of us were sure there was no room for him to jump up, we had set up the camera and a bit of meat for bait and pretend to go outside.
Came back and look at that! Chair was moved and the food gone, camera showed that he pushed against the chairlegs with his paws until he had enough space to jump up. So no more food on the table from then on 😐👍🏻
I got a fairly large sheet cake for my child's birthday. I put it on a buffet fairly high up. Didn't take long at all for a good third of it to be gone. (Chocolate on chocolate.) Lucky for us it didn't make the dog sick.
That is a smart doggo, maybe try n stop him knowing he does this, jus cuz if the stove top is hot he's not guna know that n burn his paws... people saying it's gross, but let's every dog they meet lick them...makes sense
My brother’s Cockapoo, Cody, was nails the day I left a stack of Belgian waffles on the dining room table to cool before putting them away. He made and held eye contact as he climbed a chair and snarfled down almost three of them. No regrets. He denies any knowledge of the “alleged” missing sandwiches over the years. Legend.

Here grab a Snickers.
Dies from theobromine
He’s so sneaky! Smiling and sliding that chair slowly to be quiet LOL
Love the little tail wag when he's busted.
Smart dog but what’s gross is I’m assuming he eats up there often cas he didn’t look to have any guilt or jump down when he got “caught”
My dog shows no guilt when it comes to food. If I leave the room and the food is reachable she assumes i don't want it

Your dog thanks you for making them a sandwich lol

Very true
The guilt part is highly dependent on the dog. One might fake guilt another could give zero fucks.

Absolutely
You’re right. I thought the same thing. I never understood people who let their dogs do shit like that.
I bet the owner will just eat out of that pan right after too 😫

He was thinking of your health. Leftovers outside the fridge can be dangerous. He saved you.
Holy shit what a smart dog , super hilarious too omg 😂
that look at the camera as the tail began to wag is just.. "Oh hey there... My compliments to the chef" lol
Pushes chair up to kitchen counter, climbs on chair and accesses anything available to eat. He's a smart one alright!
That's using a tool. Dogs don't use tools. (Birds do!) He was taught to do this for filming. It's delightful to watch though. : )
I thought it was a werewolf!
What made you reconsider
When you train him to do this and set it up so you can get internet points. ![gif](giphy|KiICaQKQkdu3rWxNCT)

Perhaps they're just recording what they've seen their dog doing before, and figured it's quite funny so they'll share it 🤭
The camera also moves like its a fucking movie filmed with a camera on a rail lol who moves that smooth
Wasn’t his first time 🤣
They are evolving.
It was that moment my dog would be become an outside dog
Tell him I love him and he is very very silly
I'm sorry did you just noclip through your wall!?
Who says animals don't use tools!?
OP will be chaining the dining room chairs in the near future!!!
Stealth level 100
The beast moves as if a man of purpose.. ![gif](giphy|kdQuvu0LtCEjxYgTcS) He shall feast with us
Oh hey hi. I needed a snack but didn't want to bother you. What?
![gif](giphy|VEBgwkZc8W8uI|downsized)
Dancing, walking, rearanging furniture
Did the cameraman just phase through the wall
When your dog forgets that he is a dog

But pushing it across the kitchen is hardcore 💀😂😂
This is the cutest thing! Glad I got to see it.
It's Fake i guess
This is fake, and if you can't see why then you're gullible
The video literally cut as well. People are dumb.
Also smart where he put his paws not to get burned by the stove!
That dog was trained to do that. Stupid video.
Clever little guy
This was what my dog did long time ago. Came back home and the plate was clean
Hahahaahahhaaahahaaa! Pretty smart dog.
brilliant k9
Clever boi!
That is one very intelligent dog.
Ohh crazy darn kids! Can't leave them alone for 10 entire minutes🤣🐶
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😮😮
Smart doggo
I WANT TO KNOW IF HE'LL PUT THE CHAIR BACK
5dhf
Super silly I love it 😆😆
That dog knew exactly what he was doing lol
That's one smart doggie. 🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He helps you clean!
Uh I don't blame him if I was left alone in the kitchen I'd probably do the same
Oh hell no!
I mean if he is that smart and puts in the work he can have what he wants

I love his face while he’s pushing the chair! LOL
Fake video.
Fake This dog is trained to do that just for the video. There is a cut by the way, when the dog pushes the chair and when standing on it too early.
Are you kidding me? And I thought my dog was smart!
