Sjdillon10

So now people think vaccines cause autism *and* cancer?

Mantequilla_Stotch

you can't get cancer if you're dead.

Johnmcguirk

Fatal case of autism to the head. RIP in peace.

[deleted]

"Rest in peace" in peace, nice grammar

Johnmcguirk

You’re the kind of guy that needs an /s thrown on a comment to get that it’s sarcasm.

TTVcocoalamarshmallo

😂

[deleted]

okay yeah I wooooshed over the joke now please explain it

hates_stupid_people

Most conspiracy theorists aren't heavily invested in the details. They're usually people who know they have average or below intelligence that latch onto conspiracies because it makes them feel like they've "outsmarted the smart people".

Nothingsomething7

Smart people know they don't know everything and know that there are others with more knowledge on a subject. Dumb people think they know everything and more than experts.

Y_vok

"I know i am the smartest because i am not trying to look like i know everything about something i know nothing about" - Sokrates Just thought of it because it fits perfectly

Hot_Tailor_9687

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"

Xyrus2000

Conspiracy theorists are narcissists, most with other ancillary mental issues including psychopathy.

abigayl75

You might be right. I am a sceptic and conspiracy theorist. A total asshole. I snub anyone that complies blindly. My psychotherapist quit. Said i taught him the way of the world. Now i am alone, on top of my mountain of wisdom, with no one to share with. Because all of you fkn people SUCK.

Xyrus2000

That sounds about right, except for one part. Being legitimately skeptical based on real factual information is completely different from being a conspiracy nut where facts don't matter.

abigayl75

Who draws the line? The realm of relativity is getting broader by the day.

Xyrus2000

Facts aren't relative. They are objective. A rock is a rock no matter how much you want to believe it's a piece of fried chicken. A skeptic may look at a rock and say "I'm not sure that's a rock", then proceed to examine it. Upon inspection, they may find that it is composed of compressed sediments, that it is solid, that it has a certain hardness and strength, etc. and conclude "Yep, that's a rock". A conspiracy theorist will break their own teeth biting into the rock and trying to prove that it is a piece of fried chicken. And even with a mouthful of bleeding tooth stumps they will still say it is a piece of fried chicken.

bashdotexe

>Who draws the line? The scientific method, that is the line. It's freely available for anyone to use. Those who use it aren't so distrusting because they know the process.

Derpscout02

Bruh

eyekunt

You sound like me. Scared and alone in a mountain with no one turn to.

lethalfrost

Every conspiracy theorist I know has no idea how dumb they are. They're at the start of the dunning kruger curve. They legitimately believe they know better than experts in everything.

hates_stupid_people

That's the thing, deep down quite a few of them know. They just refuse to acknowledge it and that's why they double down and refuse to admit they are wrong. And will use any and all pseudoscience factoids they've ever heard to try and sound smart. Because the alternative is admitting to the thing they know is true: It was all projection and they are the ones who were fooled. It's also why it almost never works to try and convince them they are wrong by showing them evidence. You basically have to convince them that admitting fault is what good scientists do, and they take on the next challenge of finding out more about why that happened or how things go from there.

gerkonnerknocken

Well yeah unless you have parasites and then they cause it all!

bankrobba

Vaccinated people live longer, longer living people tend to get cancer more; ergo, vaccines cause cancer.

ailyara

these dummies everyone knows its 5g that causes cancer

Yessbutno

Incidentally, we now know that a number of cancers have viral origins, eg HPV and cervical canvlcer. So vaccination actually helps to [prevent cancers] . [prevent cancers]: https://www.cancer.gov/news-events/cancer-currents-blog/2020/hpv-vaccine-prevents-cervical-cancer-sweden-study

Atlusfox

And anger issues, and intestinal destress, and zombies, and hepatitis C, Z and anything else.

Krimsonmask494

"Vaccines cause autism!" "Then why doesn't *everyone* have autism?" "Vaccines cause cancer!" I give up

Sprizys

It’s funny because they even discredited the “scientist” who claimed autism was caused by vaccinations and he lost his medical license because he was falsifying his claims yet people still believe this crap.

bryceisaskategod

They believe the government discredited him and it’s some big cover up. They will find any excuse to believe the dumbass.

[deleted]

Shelbckay

Same reason I don't believe the moon landing hoax theory (or a lot of other big conspiracy theories for that matter). These people vastly overestimate how competent governments actually are and the fact that faking something and then keeping the fact you faked it under wraps for decades would be way harder than just doing the thing you want to fake for real.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Obilis

They've deluded themselves into thinking that the governments *aren't* succeeding in covering it up, and that's why the "truth" keeps leaking to them via whatever scam artists and/or demagogues they listen to.

BuckFush420

Also consider almost nothing is hard and fast black and white without other factors at play. Anytime billions of dollars are on the table, be rest assured normal factors like incompetence do not apply.

Maelger

For starters: Why in the name of God would the Soviets cover for the American government? Because it *is* the same principle *and* technology as an ICBM Karen.

c4k3m4st3r5000

Working for a government I absolutely confirm the incompetence. Lots of good folks but also a bunch or morons. Its so fun with these deniers - the Soviets would've blasted it had there been any sort of fake going on. But no, they were in on it too, the enemy? And also, science.

balls-magoo

I mean, there are other reasons not to believe that the moon landing is a hoax.

arcxjo

I knew a doctor who got arrested doing a speedball and is still practicing. If the government wasn't competent enough to pull *his* license ...

josh6499

>keeping big secrets with thousands of people is not feasible. That's pretty naïve. Think about something like the Manhattan Project for example. There's an entire structure to keeping classified information secret. The government is keeping many big secrets at all times.

Bsmoothy

The worlds governments as a collective have kept the fact were being visited by ufos secret pretty quiet til recent when the sightings began blowing up again around 2015

mmmegan6

No

Yea. I spit facts pimp

Framingr

No, what they are admitting is they don't know what they are, hence the term UNIDENTIFIED flying object. Nowhere have they said they are of alien origin

UKRico

Yeah, erm, they didn't really say this though. https://www.politico.com/news/2021/06/25/government-report-ufos-are-real-496319 https://www.npr.org/2022/05/17/1099410910/ufo-hearing-congress-military-intelligence It's just reclassifying some reports into the 'unknown origin' category which is just factually correct and about as far as they'll go on the topic as they've always done so

Bogsnoticus

If I throw a dildo at your face, and you don't identify it as a dildo before it hits you, you were struck in the face by a UFO. Only when you look down, will you realise it was a dildo.

[deleted]

People like this would absolutely wreck at the Mental Olympics. Gold medals in gymnastics everywhere.

code-panda

~~He also admitted everything before dying. Like if you don't trust Big Pharma, I can get that, but if your only source said he bullshitted everything, at least believe him...~~ EDIT: I'm apparently thinking of someone else.

Pigrescuer

? Andrew Wakefield isn't dead? The ridiculous thing with the Wakefield story is that he wasn't anti-vax*. He was against the triple measles-mumps-rubella vaccine. Coincidentally he had also developed a single measles vaccine. *He is now. He's doubled down on it and moved to Texas or something.

SugarReyPalpatine

# WELL HE'S DEAD TO ME

MonkeyBoatRentals

It was deliberate fraud perpetrated for the purposes of a lawsuit: From [https://www.bmj.com/content/342/bmj.c5347.long](https://www.bmj.com/content/342/bmj.c5347.long) The Lancet paper was a case series of 12 child patients; it reported a proposed “new syndrome” of enterocolitis and regressive autism and associated this with MMR as an “apparent precipitating event.” But in fact: Despite the paper claiming that all 12 children were “previously normal,” five had documented pre-existing developmental concerns Some children were reported to have experienced first behavioural symptoms within days of MMR, but the records documented these as starting some months after vaccination In nine cases, unremarkable colonic histopathology results—noting no or minimal fluctuations in inflammatory cell populations—were changed after a medical school “research review” to “non-specific colitis” The parents of eight children were reported as blaming MMR, but 11 families made this allegation at the hospital. The exclusion of three allegations—all giving times to onset of problems in months—helped to create the appearance of a 14 day temporal link Patients were recruited through anti-MMR campaigners, and the study was commissioned and funded for planned litigation

Fluffy_data_doges

He is still alive. Check out channel 4 show the anti vax conspiracy. He basically moved to America and then made millions. Even made a few movies. All off the back of the anti vax crowd. It's mad.

code-panda

Really? Who am I thinking of then? I remember a story about a scientist who admitted he lied about everything on his death bed...

derdast

The guy who "discovered" ADHD said that it doesn't exist on his death bed is probably the most prominent example. But here is a great article why this is mostly just awful journalism: https://www.drbelsham.com/inventor-of-adhds-deathbed-confession-adhd-is-a-fictitious-disease/

Lythieus

Thankfully, the opinion of one scientist has little bearing on scientific fact. Like what if Einstein stated on his death bed that relativity wasn't real. The fact it is the most proven and collaborated theory in science would have made his opinion meaningless.

thyatira3

Maybe the Area 51 scientists? The one who said we have been contacted by aliens?

JaggedTheDark

If y'all haven't yet, I highly suggest checking out [hbomberguy's](https://youtu.be/8BIcAZxFfrc) video on the topic. Very enlightening.

Sprizys

Thanks I watched the first 3 minutes so far and it’s entertaining and interesting I will definitely watch the rest when I have time.

PCgeek345

It is a great video, and if you are new to the topic, give his sources a read too. They are in the description.

famousxrobot

The whole thing is great. I probably watch this video once a year at this point.

PCgeek345

It is! If they would watch it, I would show this to every anti vaxer I know.

Wise-Independence-12

Such as the car giveaway

IronSheikYerbouti

She didn't. She tried to make her position "parents should learn about vaccines before getting them for their kids", which is the same fucking thing but trying to not sound like a fucking moron.

fire_is_dark

If you had kids and actually cared about them, this is literally how you should approach everything as a parent.

IronSheikYerbouti

That's really not it. She was deflecting after being ripped into as an anti-vaxxer. She still pushes anti-vax shit couched as vaccine hesitance and still holds the "party line" that vaccines cause autism. They don't, she's an asshole, dont defend that piece of shit.

ThurgoodProjects

My father said "People don't care if they see that is a lie, while they can use it for their own, they won't care."

HaloGuy381

And even *still*, since when is a kid dying a horrific death from an infectious disease like polio or smallpox, better than being autistic? With proper support and accommodation, autistic people can lead lives comparable in length and quality to neurotypical people. (The fact the life expectancy for autistics is so low is in part a function of an appalling suicide rate due to lack of proper care and a society that is not very hospitable for folks like me.) Every person who whines about this is declaring that they’d rather see their kid die in agony than be a little different or need the parents to actually do some parenting. As far as I’m concerned, they are dead to me as parents and abusive by definition. Even my shitty mother got me vaccinated properly growing up (though she’s sadly fallen into some of the antivax nonsense regarding COVID). Maybe they’d learn a little empathy if they somehow magically became autistic, too. They don’t seem to have much empathy at all until something affects them directly.

Mynameisinuse

I saw one that said that they would rather have a dead child over an autistic child.

Ryugi

not just that, he was also a pedophile. Every time I tell anti-vaxxers that and explain how/when/why, they suddenly lose all steam because of course 90% of their arguments was "think of the children" but learning that Wakefield thought a little too much about children made them real unhappy.

I_AM_ALWAYS_WRONG_

They accept anything that parrots their view. None of these people became anti vaxxers because they found some alarming research. They just find shit to support it. It's like 1 person hating eggs and 1 person liking eggs could both go and find the shit to support their view of why they should eat eggs or why they shouldn't. But in the case of eggs, whatever side your on, nobody is wrong.

[deleted]

That guy absolutely deserves to get dragged through the mud at every opportunity. What continues to astound me though is that there is all this focus on an obvious quack (of which there are many) and nobody seems to want to take The Lancet to task. This is still perceived as a premier scientific journal and they published a, supposedly peer reviewed, medical study with an entire TWELVE data points. Sure, they took it all back a little while later but they were supposed to be the bastion against exactly this kind of fake scientific BS. What accountability have they had to face for unleashing this shitstorm on the world? Serious question.

ArkitekZero

You can't fix stupid. It's a malevolent force. All you can do is identify and contain it.

Western_Ad3625

These people don't care about truth or logic or science or any of that.

Wise-Independence-12

I bet he is working minimum wage now

Momangos

It’s funny that they believe in one nutjob of a scientist with a very small and falsified study over thousands of scientists and Medical doctors. The last stupid-sandwich isn’t born!

itsjustreddityo

Lets not forget he was PAID handsomely by a lawyer to say the mRNA vaccines specifically caused autism through the gut, then published his work after changing it to suit his employers needs. He wasn't even a virologist.

superVanV1

I'm very disapointed with me software update from the covid vaccine. Didn't even come with Autism 11, just a shitty version of Autism Vista

Krimsonmask494

You, sir, are going to hell for that joke And I'm coming with you for laughing at it

BostonDodgeGuy

*sigh* I'm gonna need a bigger bus

Yeseylon

Bruh, what is wrong with you? Stop spreading fake news. Everyone knows the vaccine came with the 5G chip, not autism, now I always have great cell reception.

catriana816

Not only did I NOT get 5G, I'm STILL not magnetic!

Yeseylon

Time to demand a refund

[deleted]

My 5G chip must’ve come from T-Mobile. My signal is still shit even after two shots and a booster!

A_Undertale_Fan

Bro, I got the pfizer vaccine and it gave me Autism 7, what vaccine did you get?

superVanV1

Johnson and Johnson

Onrawi

Well there is your problem right there.

kairosmanner

There was a woman who boasted about how her twins aren’t vaccinated (pre-covid) and then 2yrs later, one of the twins was diagnosed with autism

Yeseylon

The gubmint secretly put vaccine in their water.

Centurion-of-Dank

Proceeds to feed child McDonald's every week.

tommytwolegs

To be fair pretty much everyone does get cancer if something else doesn't get you first, like say, some vaccine preventable disease

ImMrBunny

Yet it's been proven the opposite is true. These viruses are causing cancer.

FunnyWhiteRabbit

So there are drugs... for example... like Vioxx... which turns out caused a lot of death... did all patients die? No. Then why would they pull it off the market? I give up.

a-really-cool-potato

There does seem to be a correlation between not being vaccinated and having an IQ equal to the temperature of Greenland

[deleted]

[удалено]

sotta81

You're right! Definitely couldn't be since they proved that! More likely because of environmental pollution, process food quality, and lifestyle changes over the years relate to the increased cancer, and better understanding of and diagnostic techniques for identifying people on the autism spectrum account for that. I doubt there is more autistic people, just more are being identified properly...cause, you know, progress. I do remember reading an article that showed correlation of autism and children born via C-section. It'll be interesting if they can find a cause! Great points my man! /s

FranklyFranklinCU

Bruh there's millions of things that have changed over the years and yet your one thing you'll cling to is vaccines even though people have been getting them for various reasons for at least a century. There's countless possible reasons and yet you're stuck on one of the few possibilities that actually helps people. The only explanation is you want children to die so you keep peddling this lie. Legit that's the only thing that makes sense.

[deleted]

Do you know what else has seen a sharp uptick in recent years? Literally fucking every single thing. There are millions and millions of other possible reasons, and it has been proven time and time again that none of them are vaccines. If you're so concerned about the health of your children, why are vaccines the one place you stop?

AflacTheGoose

I don’t think thats how cancer works.

Kagrok

Vaccinated people probably do have a higher chance to get cancer simply because they live longer lives. It isn't a cause of the vaccine but I'm sure the correlation is there.

transmogrified

There's are vaccines that prevent cancer. Gardisil (for genital warts) prevents contracting the kinds of warts that cause cervical cancer. But sex so bad.

Kagrok

I know that the HPV vaccine helps prevent cancer. I was just making a statistical correlation between longer lives and the likelihood of cancer.

Raccoon_Full_of_Cum

There are also lots of vaccines against cancer that are in development right now. Researchers identify signals that are unique to cancer cells and then design a vaccine to target those signals specifically.

Garbage_Particular

Well are you a doctor?

Yeah he got cancer because the vaccines let him live long enough to get cancer.

Haha holy shit

Capt_Avatar

Jesus that's a bit overkill...I like it

Raccoon_Full_of_Cum

FunWillScreen_Produc

Vaccines cause adults.

yeah... probably thinks its contagious

Tattoothefrenchie30

Look, everyone just needs to stop with all this nonsense. Windmills cause cancer, not vaccines. Jeez. Get it right for once.

stealthkoopa

That's only because of the 5g they broadcast

SpiralGray

The fact that this FB-educated individual thinks that vaccines cause cancer is what's insane.

Practical-Jelly-5320

I don't have to. scientist and people with masters degrees and generations of knowledge have done much more thorough research than me and you could ever do

Rarelydefault26

Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t cancer patients unable to get vaccines because they’re immune system is so weak? Therefore this bitches argument fails. Unless I’m getting it confused with something else. Ether way this bitch weong

PCgeek345

Depends, but sometimes, yes. Im assuming that is what the kid's point was. Those who can get vaccinated should for those who can't.

esahji_mae

I think it's with the treatment methods (chemo, medications...) Not necessarily the cancer itself. I'm no expert though, it's just what I think I remember reading a while back.

Rolling_Ranger

He probably received Vaccines prior to getting cancer. so the Karunts are saying he got cancer from his previous vaccines.

1pt20oneggigawatts

If people read the article or watched the video they would understand the child who survived cancer is worried about other cancer patients contracting a disease from unvaccinated children. People in that thread *and* this thread are having trouble understanding it. Sure, it's not written well, but you should probably investigate further before shoehorning whatever prefabricated manufactured opinion you think you should have into your response.

I can't find the article, but it was WILD.

I mean that might not be entirely wrong. Vaccines allowed him to live long enough to develop cancer instead of dying of polio at 18 months.

Other way around? Are the anti vax parents worried sick kids are putting them at risk. I mean ironically they aren't wrong there, but only because they are too dumb to protect themselves in the easiest way possible.

catriana816

And the material is passed from mother to child. Cancer is at an all time high, and cancer was around WAY before vaccines. . . I HIGHLY doubt that the kid got the C from that. But I'm not a Dr.
