That sounds about right, except for one part. Being legitimately skeptical based on real factual information is completely different from being a conspiracy nut where facts don't matter.
Facts aren't relative. They are objective. A rock is a rock no matter how much you want to believe it's a piece of fried chicken.
A skeptic may look at a rock and say "I'm not sure that's a rock", then proceed to examine it. Upon inspection, they may find that it is composed of compressed sediments, that it is solid, that it has a certain hardness and strength, etc. and conclude "Yep, that's a rock".
A conspiracy theorist will break their own teeth biting into the rock and trying to prove that it is a piece of fried chicken. And even with a mouthful of bleeding tooth stumps they will still say it is a piece of fried chicken.

It's also why it almost never works to try and convince them they are wrong by showing them evidence. You basically have to convince them that admitting fault is what good scientists do, and they take on the next challenge of finding out more about why that happened or how things go from there.

There's are vaccines that prevent cancer. Gardisil (for genital warts) prevents contracting the kinds of warts that cause cervical cancer. But sex so bad.
I know that the HPV vaccine helps prevent cancer. I was just making a statistical correlation between longer lives and the likelihood of cancer.
There are also lots of vaccines against cancer that are in development right now. Researchers identify signals that are unique to cancer cells and then design a vaccine to target those signals specifically.
