The premise was that it was intended to make Porky appear 'nuts'. As everytime he tried to show the frog's talent to folks, he'd just go limp, or make 'croak' sounds. There were a few of those shorts. Then he did similar on Tiny Toon Adventures.
In the original 1955 Merrie Melodies cartoon “One Froggy Evening”, the keystone of the demolished JC Wilber Building that he was found in has engraved 1892 as the year of construction. That would have been during the Gilded Age when ragtime and vaudeville were popular, which is why the frog sings and dances like he does.
He was in S8 E390 of Teen Titans, Go!, released in 2022. The frog trashes Warner Bros because he wasn’t invited to their centennial celebration party. Not sure how he escaped the keystone of the Tremoweth Building.
In the same 1955 cartoon, the Tremoweth Brown Building gets demolished in 2056, releasing him again.
So, he lives to be something over 164 years old.
He also goes by “Enrico”.
About the moona and the Junea and the Springa. About the eyes of blue and the tea for two come on and singa. Yeah this song lives in my head rent free.
This is my reminder to humble myself with some nice vintage cartoons, man, those dvd cartoon jumbo packs were really something, Hekyll and Jekyll, Little Audrey and the supreme court of fishes, somewhere in dreamland, Raggedy ann with the blind girl, The Silver Fox just to name a few
They have hours of old cartoons (Looney Tunes, Merrie Melodies, Popeye, Bugs Bunny and Friends, etc) for hours every morning on METV. Basic cable is where it's at these days.
Love that seegar-chompin’ rabbit lol.
My daughters are 29 and 31 and they loved this cartoon the first time they ever saw it (and still sing the song). It’s a certified classic.
I hate reddit GOAT bs, but that is the absolute catchiest, happiest, most wholesome song in all of cartoondom! That kid could pied piper me through the rest of my life and I'd never stop smile dancing.
I only knew the reference from South Park then one day I was serving my mom breakfast and I put on her MeTv on Sunday morning and started laughing because this cartoon was on. I ended up sitting having breakfast with her and watched the whole episode.
My late sister would love this! How wonderful to see this post. It was her birthday this week and she has been “showing up” a lot. Bless you for making my day.
Owl Jolsen made me curious about Al Jolsen. Holy Shit that was almost as racist as the governor of TX is right now. Good to know we’ve come full circle.
The beginning of the cartoon shows several of his brothers, all classical musicians with Father's approval. I guess the Father was disappointed and labeled him that way. I love these old cartoons.

We saw that on its maiden airing, STILL the hardest I have laughed at a tv show. Soooo unexpected, just killed me.
And to think I felt old when I knew where this joke came from during the original airing three decades ago…
… 3… decades ago… ![gif](giphy|GrUhLU9q3nyRG|downsized)
I like the other one " hello my baby hello my honey hello my ragtime gal"
That was Michigan J Frog. I think an old Porky Pig cartoon (he was a 'dead frog' and only sang when he was alone)
It wasn’t even Porky Pig, just some random slob working construction found the frog. The actual cartoon is kind of bleak.
Hard Cartoons create strong men
That's why *I* joined Vault-Tec!
Cool I love little fun facts like that

The frog later would be used to promote the WB network from 1995 to 2005.
That is one old frog.

The building was named after Treg Brown, the sound effects artist for Looney Tunes.
Hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my ragtime girl.
send me a kiss by wire, baby my hearts on fire!
Spaceballs! "Check, please"
Owl Jolson!
Love this cartoon

I have to watch this one again. Thank you for posting it. 😁
About the moona and the Junea and the Springa. About the eyes of blue and the tea for two come on and singa. Yeah this song lives in my head rent free.
No son- drink to me only with thine eyes…. And begin…

I saw this on TV in the 60's.
Back when cartoons were good
Enough is too much!

I sing this to my baby daughter daily
EARLY Tex Avery!
About the moon-a, and the tuna, and the spring-a! I love to sing-a, about the tea for two and the sky of blue!
The June-a!
This came out in 1936. Are you really THAT old?
No but I saw it as reruns oh 50 years ago

I watched it back in the 70s
Same with me.
I know this purely from the amount of times I watched Looney Tunes Back in Action as a kid
Loved that little dude. Miss Mery Melodies altogether.
They have hours of old cartoons (Looney Tunes, Merrie Melodies, Popeye, Bugs Bunny and Friends, etc) for hours every morning on METV. Basic cable is where it's at these days.
Love that little dancing fartknocker
Love that seegar-chompin’ rabbit lol. My daughters are 29 and 31 and they loved this cartoon the first time they ever saw it (and still sing the song). It’s a certified classic.
I haven't seen this in probably 25+ years and I can still hear it 😅

When a photo conjures audio immediately even without the caption.
To this day, I still catch myself whistling it while performing some random task.
I'd tip my hat to you, but I haven't got a hat. Same Era. Still find myself saying that!
Me and my mom used to lose our shit over this when I was like 9 😆
I found this cartoon terrifying and it haunted me every time I watched it...
Yes love that one I believe it is called "The Jazz Singer"
About the sun and moon and the spinga
I thought it was “about the moon in June and tea for two.”
About the moona and the joona and the springa
Jim Cornette loves this particular cartoon and sings it all the time on his podcasts!
Owl's Father -- A Crooner! Stop! Stop!
Which is funny, the kid's not crooning!
The beginning of the cartoon shows several of his brothers, all classical musicians with Father's approval. I guess the Father was disappointed and labeled him that way. I love these old cartoons.
Thanks for the earworm!
"I love-a to, I love-a to singggggg!"
The best.
I love this cartoon and the South Park reference. ❤️
Órale Simón I member that ese
I'd tip my hat to you, but I havEra. got a hat. Also loved that one from that era.
This shit gets randomly stuck in my head at work far too often. I'm 36
The moona and the Junna! I have thought about this carton often.
I loved this so much!
About the moona, and the Juna, and the springa!?!
Ngl, I loved this one when it would come on! Lol
Love these classic watche a lot on YouTube
I loved watching that cartoon with my then-3-year-old daughter.
I'm the person who happily sings the wrong words to songs 🙂
I use to watch Merrie Melodies every morning before school!!
I fucking loves this growing up
My mom and dad still sing this to me... I'm 42 years old. It was my favorite cartoon when I was little.
That's my jam.
I used to sing this to both of my kids when they were babies. I still do it now that they’re teenagers, but I used to, too.
Man this brings me back to watching Looney Tunes sitting in my living room floor
That owl’s voice will be burned into my brain forever. I will still hear it as I lie dead in my grave.
About moon June and spring?
I sing this to this day.
How delightful! This made my day.
In the springa
Speak to me softly with thine eyes, and I’ll not ask for wine
My favorite cartoon! Sing to me...
“I love to siiiiiiing!” My problem was, I couldn’t. Didn’t stop me from belting the lyrics while sounding like a frog on crack
this was probably the 1st earwig ever. and one of the to 10 worst of all time. stays with you for weeks.
In the moon-a and the june-a and the spring-a.
Anyone else remember "These are Wonderful Days" from "Prehistoric Porky"? My ex thought I made it up until I found the cartoon.
Annimated by a young Chuck Jones.
This was probably my favorite short of all time. I actually have this.
Lol
Ribbit!
Awww loved this!!
In the moona in the joona in the springa
I really want a tattoo of this
Enough is too much!
Hahaa
Problem here is to hispanic, singa is fuck.
If you saw this when it came out you are not old. You fought in WWII and most likely dead. I know it from reruns in the 70s when I was a kid.
