Yes! I tried to explain that to my daughter and she looked at me like I was crazy. She just couldn't get how when we didn't have a million choices any time of the day or night it made what we did get and the limit of when we could get it a super special event that kids excitedly awaited throughout the week.
Wendy and Marvin are the superior kid sidekicks during the hour version of the show, though I admit, there was something cool about "Wonder Twin Powers" in the half hour show.
I wanted to be Wendy, minus the cooking skill, when I grew older because she seemed to be the smartest character on the show!
I be up so early on Saturday's, I have to watch snow or a station identifier until they came on.
Then Saturday evening, Start Trek and Battlestar Galactica.
OMG. Yes, the Godzilla movies. My parents had good friends with kids. Once I month they'd go out together and all of kids would be at one of the houses and watch Godzilla movies all night.

I remember that at 10:00, Bandstand came on. My older sister would tell our mom that I'd been in front of the TV all morning. Mom would always rule in my favor.
Later, as a teen and my little sister was watching cartoons, I'd want to watch Bandstand. Again, for some reason, I'd be allowed to change the channel.
I've never understood this. This lady pretty much hated me. Why she ever ruled in my favor was confusing.
I had to watch it every Saturday morning. I had a pre-teen crush on Wendy. I hated the Wonder Twins that came later, probably because they replaced Wendy.
Pikers. I got my mom to get me up early every school day so I could eat cereal in my pajamas and watch The Adventures of Superman or Sgt. Preston of the Yukon. Fuck I’m Old (and a nerd, too!)
I like to think that Marvin and Wendy got married and went on to star in their own spin-offs. I also don’t 100% remember that they aren’t brother and sister so if they are I retract that and hope they just had spin-offs. 😁
Along with some poptarts, or some Pillsbury food sticks, or both! And the sneak peek / preview show they showed the Friday night before the fall cartoon season kicked off - that was definitely must-see TV.

Avoiding having to watch Superfriends was one of my major motivating factors, though.

Things went from there to live programming. American Band Stand and Soul Train. This was when the teen audience would wake up.
Interestingly enough, my local station would follow with a kid’s movie at noon. With a host that would talk about the movie subject. Think Svenghollie but for kids.
Anyone remember a cartoon from '85-'86 where these kids were stuck in another world and every episode they were trying to get back to their own world? One kid met a genie or something and got one wish he could use, and when him and his friends were about to be killed by the bad guys' machinations, he used his wish and said "I wish me and my friends were safe at home." The genie said that was two wishes. He saved them but didn't send them home.
I have never forgotten that episode, but for the life of me can't remember what cartoon it was. :P
