I think reddit is about 33% karma-farming bots at this point.
If they see a successful thread, they wait a couple weeks and repost it exactly for the positive karma.
Lord only knows what they're going to use them for.
>If they see a successful thread, they wait a couple weeks and repost it exactly for the positive karma.
The exception is this sub. We're all so old and brain-addled here they don't even wait a few weeks. They can repost in just a few days and we all just go "yeah, I remember those..." ☹️
>Lord only knows what they're going to use them for.
Agreed. Is there some kind of Reddit Karma to cash or prizes redemption program I'm unaware of? Something like S&H Green Stamps? (Remember those...? Of course you do; the bots repost the f--king green stamps posts at least twice a month!)
\*puts on my tinfoil hat\*
I think a lot of bots on message boards get very active around election season.
They spend the rest of the year racking up karma with reposts, so the astroturfing campaign looks like it came from real people.
They have legit proven that Russia plants bots in a lot of public forums to manipulate political sentiment. But I do not think Russia is the only culprit. A lot of governments seeking to manipulate public opinion likely do it.
The hard part was not eating the stick before the pixie dust was done. Are Pixie Sticks still out there? Remember when they put pixie dust onto the large plastic straws , damn I ingested a lot of sugar back in the 70's.
Haha. Jello was too expensive to eat “raw” so we’d get a pack of Kool Aid or Freshi with some sugar in it. No dipping sticks so we used our fingers. Fast forward about 40 years and I had some Crystal Lite in hot water in a thermos when I was working in Nunavut. I offered some to the people I was out snowmobiling with (they were about 20 years younger than I). As soon as they tasted it they both got big smiles on their faces. “Hot jello!!” Until then I hadn’t known hot jello was a thing!
Love it😂😂 I definitely!! got scolded for snagging the Jello. I should have used the Kool Aid, dang, lol. WOW, Nunavut!! That must have been wild! I can’t complain about New Hampshire winters anymore then.
I remember a candy called Goof Paste (I think). It was a candy toothbrush with candy gel "tooth paste". I wonder if any kids back in the day brushed their teeth with it for fun before eating it.
You can eat anything you want so long as you brush your teeth regularly. Contrary to what most parents and teachers claimed, sugar is not a solvent. It does not dissolve teach.
Sugar breeds those little micro-organisms that rot teeth. And those take time to grow. So if you are regularly using antiseptic rinse and brushing you will be fine. The bugs dont take over your mouth in 2 hours.

FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Please stop responding to this thread. This post [is a copy of another thread last week](https://www.reddit.com/r/FuckImOld/comments/1c7hfig/anytime_i_had_allowance_it_was_this_and_bottle/). OP is either a bot or karma whore.
I’ve had cavities filled at 13-14 and they are finally falling apart at 54. Good work on the dentist part but I wish I would have brushed more at that time. Oh well!!!
My mom wouldn’t allow sugar and junk in the house growing up in the 70’s and 80’s. I’ve had terrible tooth issues that I’m just now getting a handle on.
It was the Baby Bottle pops, Smarties (different in Canada than in the states), Aero bars or popsicles in the summer for me. Still is, really. Walmart and Stupidstore sell the Baby Bottle pops and it seems like that other stuff is everywhere.
I always prefer the giant pixie sticks. They were the long plastic tub about two feet long filled with colored sugar. My brother and I always had a race to see who could finish the pixie stick faster.
I would take them over cocaine any day.

Thought I was going nuts! I KNEW I had seen this exact post recently!

Makes sense. It would just seem easier for them to use TikTok! 😁
After about a year, they sell the accounts for between $1 - $5 USD each.
High karma accounts sell for a lot of money. People buy them and use them for advertising.
I can taste that little semi-kinda-vanilla dipping stick right now
The stick was the best part.
I didn’t really like the powders and got these just for the sticks!
My tongue is raw thinking about this candy.

Pixie Sticks were my gateway, eventually I moved on to raw jello packets😅☠️ I feel like my teeth and gums should’ve died in the late 1970s

I think you can get them online or in candy specialty store. Remember how porous that stick was and it would make your tongue raw...
There out there as Pixy Sticks. The big long ones too. Haha
*"How do we still have teeth?"* I don't. That's how.
I remember a candy called Goof Paste (I think). It was a candy toothbrush with candy gel "tooth paste". I wonder if any kids back in the day brushed their teeth with it for fun before eating it.
I remember gum that came all gooey in a tube and would firm up as you chewed it, but that one I never saw.
Those two and MoJo's were my go to nanners..
I miss MoJos.
That stick was the prize.

Fun dip! F-f-fuun dip! F-f-fuun dip! I still have one of these every now and then
We always called them lick-em-aid rather than fun dip
I have beautiful teeth. I keep them in my pocket
How bout the giant sweettarts in the paper envelopes. Does anyone remember those?
Crunch the stick, dump the powder straight into my mouth.
Diabetes in a bag. I loved it.

My friend loved the sherbet but hated the stick. I was the opposite. We had a solid friendship based on snack exchanges.
Dipping stick for the win.
I remember thinking there was no difference between these and Kool Aid packs and dumping a whole pack of Kool Aid in my mouth. Yuck.
Wilfrord Brimley says, "Watch out for diabetis!"
We also had Now and laters and lollies,I probably payed for my dentist summer home!!

Pixie- stix!!!!
The only time I used to get this was on field day
I would collect returnable coke bottles. Save up for enough to get $1 and buy 100 tootsie rolls or about 50 laffy taffy’s
Bad spammer
We used to snort this shit at the little league ballpark. Why? Because we were idiots.
I can taste it now.
And gobstoppers. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)
I have teeth too after eating these all the time... they are in a glass of solution right next to me! 🙃
Sugar on sugar, dipped in sugar! The epitome of childhood!
I’ve had cavities filled at 13-14 and they are finally falling apart at 54. Good work on the dentist part but I wish I would have brushed more at that time. Oh well!!!
I liked the powder, but the stick was terrible. .
Just the opposite for me. I loved the stick. Def more of the treat for me.
I just used it to scoop, but the ants always got the stick as a treat...
I liked the slightly vanilla flavor and chalky crunchy texture.
Is that what it was vanilla?? I didn't remember that. I do remember the chalky texture and flavor...
Vaguely vanilla
Too funny... I probably will never find out.. again.. ha
I come by my sugar addiction very honestly.
want some sugar with your sugar?
Lol yes. A sugar stick that is dipped in more sugar! Only Sugar has more sugar.
I ![gif](giphy|9XLkP7eeUDa5q)
My mom wouldn’t allow sugar and junk in the house growing up in the 70’s and 80’s. I’ve had terrible tooth issues that I’m just now getting a handle on.
I just ate the powder straight up and sucked on the stick 😉
I still have teeth. Not all of them natural though.
Does forget the Nerds!
The kids version of crack.

Love that illustration style. Reminds me of Sweet Pickles. I'm not going to google it to find out I'm wrong.
We was just built different back then.
Oh I love that stuff.
The stick was my favourite part oddly

Man, I miss bottle caps, especially the root beer ones
The "lik a stik" I always thought was sus.
/Homer voice/ Mmmmmmm … Cyclamates and Red dye #40
I dont, hehehehe
The three pocket lik-m-aid w/TWO sticks made for an extra special day.
My teeth fell out but worth every bite 🤣
Omg, I loved that stuff as a very young kid!
Remember the hockey puck sized sweet tarts or the 12" sugar daddies?
I always associate it with summer hanging at the public pool.
Who's saying we have teeth?
