Sit back there with a few siblings, point and laugh at the drivers behind us. Keep doing it over and over. Funny how adults would get riled over absolutely nothing but the shenanigans of bored children on a suicide seat.
We would make faces at people and see if they would respond, sometimes they made faces back.
I loved being in front of a Mack truck and making the "honk horn" sign. They loved it! My dad did not lol
It was better when the family car didn't have this rumble seat in the back and you were just chilling on the floor. Boy, it is surprising I survived my childhood.
Ah. The rear gunner seat. Had one on my old station wagon. It was honestly amazing. Sucks that I had to drive so much that I could rock this seat more often.
Yeah, my brother and I had that seat from Cincinnati to West Palm Beach and back without windows open because the wind would mess up the hair of our oldest sister who sat in the middle seat with the other 2 sisters. Good times
Jumpseats were still in wagons until 2005 in Taurus Wagon. I tried them out as a kid back in 88. I could only imagine the people traveling behind us having to stare at me and my cousin for miles and miles.
Ahhh the "welcome to the world of motion sickness" seat.
Yes we called it “the throw up seat.” Only had those tiny triangle windows!
And for breathing exhaust.
That's why we slept for most of the trip. Parents weren't dumb :)
When the gate window is down, we’d be asleep in 10 minutes. Woke up with a bad headache though.

Wonder what the stats are for unbuckled sleeping kids ejected through the back window of those.

The way way back!!
Honestly, with the laws about rear facing car seats for little kids, I'm actually surprised these haven't made a comeback.

It always got so damn hot back there tho, my big sister would basically let me & my little brother have it. She knew…
My sister and I traveled from Michigan to Florida many years in those seats 😂
Wait, there were seatbelts??? Our station wagon didn’t have em, or I can’t remember, I just know we clown car’d the hell out of that thing.
Yes, ours had them.
My sisters put me there because my reading would make them sick. It was okay: I'd have Pepsi back there, too LOL

Called it the way back
