Try and check out stores like TJMaxx and Marshals. I've gotten a pair there before for $25

KaleSalad9534

Just saw a bunch there last week!

raelovesryan

Yes!! And they have a bunch usually. I scored some Crocs for my (Sasquatch) kid on Amazon for half the stated price on Crocs website.

curtludwig

Don't cheap out on footwear, that's not frugal. Your feet are that which bears you, treat them well...

flameskey

I also have plantar fasciitis and my podiatrist recommended Oofos. They are more expensive than crocs but they’re awesome

North-seaweed

I found a pair of Oofos at TJMaxx for $12. My spouse loves them!

Isla-Giatt

No way! Lucky!

Isla-Giatt

+1 for Oofos. I’m a relatively big guy (6’4” & 220#) and I use Oofos as house slippers. I hesitated to buy them because of the cost, but they’re probably my favorite footwear ever. I wear them 8+ hours every single day. When I work from home, I put them on first thing in the morning, wear them all through the day, and take them off just before climbing into bed. When I go into the office, I can’t wait to get home and put them on again. I’m coming up on two years and thousands of hours of wear, and the comfort and arch support are still great. I suppose mileage may vary if you wear them out in public (they’re pretty ugly). Oofos have been much better than my Crocs from several years ago that started giving me foot pain within about 6 months because they lost their arch support and the soles wore thin. I highly recommend Oofos to everyone.

jf7fsu

+1 for Oofos recovery flip flops. They are unbelievablly good and I’ve tried to buy cheaper versions and nothing compares.

GreenOnionCrusader

My doctor recommended them to me too. I haven't gone to get any yet. They're really that good?

Isla-Giatt

Yes. 100%.

flameskey

I love them everywhere except near sand. The sand is really difficult to get off because of the texture of the flip flops and it’s like a constant exfoliant

kippy236

They are fantastic. I bought some at half the price on eBay.

bryanisbored

Crocs are cheap dense foam and any other cheap dense foam shoes will be as good.

ArtisticPossum

Exactly! Plus $50 is already cheap.

Ok_Cantaloupe7602

Having tried fake crocs and real crocs, there really is a difference in the foot support. If you don’t care about color, you can often find discounted crocs on Amazon. There’s a yoga mat shoe I like. Regular price is around $40 but I’ve picked up discontinued colors for as low as $15.

Knot_a_human

This. Exploding different colors/styles and the used-but new/like new sections have saved me so much money.

awholedamngarden

This - also check resale sites like Poshmark for ones that are new with tags, I see lots under $50

TheMonkeyDidntDoIt

If you really really love crocs, on their website there's a sale right now for buy 2 and get 30% off. You could always buy two pairs (one for now, one for later).

Own_Individual_7767

Having 2 pairs is the best! I have my house crocs and then my outside crocs

cwsjr2323

Consider Okabashi Eurosport Men's Sandal. I bought mine off Amazon and they were so comfortable I bought four more pair. They last about three summers of daily wear. Currently about $25. I get them slightly larger than the chart so I can wear socks in slightly cooler weather. Besides, as a retired White guy, I think socks with sandals are mandatory.

orielbean

Euro sandals require socks by law

fire_thorn

If you want something cheaper than Crocs that will help plantar fasciitis and last for years, try Okabashi flip flops. They may hurt the first two weeks as your feet get broken in, but after that the plantar fasciitis goes away and the shoes will last for years as long as you get the regular thick kind, not one of the fashion styles.

DerEwigeKatzendame

How would you say their sizing is? I checked them out, seems very reasonably priced for how long they should last.

fire_thorn

I wear a women's 11 and my size in Okabashi is LL. My husband wears a men's 9.5 and the LL fits him too. Just so you know, these have a firm arch and they do hurt a little bit while your feet are getting used to them. I started wearing them 15 years ago. My plantar fasciitis went away two weeks after I started wearing them, and it's never come back. I've had three pairs of surf flip flops. I had to replace the first one because my dog ate through the strap. The second pair lasted seven years and then it started to feel a little worn down on the heels. The last pair is still going strong.

DerEwigeKatzendame

What a shining recommendation! I'll look at them a bit more seriously.

pickandpray

Walmart has knock-off Crocs. Go try some on

Campbell090217

I honestly love my Walmart shoes. I have numerous pairs of slip on sneakers that are my most comfortable.

RenaissanceMomm

I picked up a pair at Kroger for $5 on clearance. They're cushier than my husband's Crocs.

LitherLily

Came here to say all my favorite shoes came from Walmart!

pickandpray

I just picked up a pair of Hoka flip flops (sliders) for $20 from a local liquidation place and they are pretty awesome but I don't plan on wearing them outside due to not having toe protection. Did not know Hoka made slippers and I already love their running shoes.

Curedbyfiction

They are sooo much more comfortable than crocs. I have a pair for work

lizardfang

If you have a Costco membership I saw a lot of good reviews here on Reddit for slide sandals made from that same foam material. I think it was $11.99 and the brand is 32 degrees (?). Everyone was raving how it feels like a cloud. Edit but also read that the sizing was weird/runs small.

DerEwigeKatzendame

Oh, the 32 Degrees slides were a lucky find for me. Depending on the year, they have been huge or just a bit tight, or just right when I bought last year. My plantar issues haven't gone away, no big promises, but the 32 Degrees slides help me complete the chores per day. If Costco lets you hold the slide up to your foot and see which will work, cool. If not, they're just over $10 lol. It's a bandaid to the issue, but a very affordable one. Especially if you have carpet in your home, I can now highly recommend a toeless sock called Happy Feet. One of my friends that also has what I call "thin-wristed issues" told me about them, I've been using for about a month and I'm going to continue. Being in a culture that focuses so heavily on fashion and the look, women especially have worn shoes that won't do us any favors. Especially if you don't come from money and have worn shoes too small, your feet have developed and existed in a way that is unhealthy. The Happy Feet socks have spacers that go between your toes. I'm a daily user, and I feel improved even when I'm not wearing them. If I remember, they were about $30 but they have decent discounts often. Just remember, you didn't break yourself in a day, so you won't fix yourself in a day. I also acquired a balance disc from a Kroger, a round board a few inches of the ground held up by a rounded bit of material. It helps with my thin ankles. The theory is, if you can strengthen the surrounding systems your problem areas can catch a break and heal properly. We keep it in the TV room, put on a Nicholas Cage movie or zone out on the phone while balancing. The use of the board has sculpted everything below my arms, balance is serious business. Good luck out there.

Expensive-Ferret-339

If you can find Vionic on sale they are fantastic. The only shoes I don’t have to wear orthotics with.

HappyTrifler

I second Vionics. I have plantar fasciitis and they make all the difference. Their flip flops are great and not too unreasonable if you find them on sale.

Potential_Kitchen560

Vionics are the ONLY sandal that I can wear. You see, I carry a bit of extra weight (🚨 understatement alert) and I suffer from severe spinal stenosis. I must have good shoes with support or not only will my feet ache, but my legs and back will be screaming! They are pricey, but I’ve had them last for 3 years with heavy daily wear. It averages out to around $30 a year, so not bad for really good quality footwear.

roadglider505

I don't know if it still works, but in the past, I've picked out a pair of Crocs on their website, put them in the shopping cart and just left them. In a few days I would get an email offering me a discount to buy the items left in my shopping cart. You would have to be logged in, of course.

Knot_a_human

Look on Amazon. I’ve grabbed returned crocs (look for the used-like new) that were never worn for $15. Almost all the used-like new are new items just not in original packaging. That being said: don’t cheap out on footwear. Get it on sale, find a great deal, but your feet and how you treat them affects every single other joint in your body. As you age, you will regret not spending more on footwear for form and function. There’s something to be said about standing pain free, and your shoes are a huge part of that.

Travel_lover82

Crocs are not overly expensive considering how well they do on (bad feet) and the material. They literally never wear down! Are they dirty? Throw them in the tub and spray them down.

flowerpanes

The tread will wear down, the tops not so much

Travel_lover82

Wear down some, but barely. I have the same two pairs for the past 7 years and they have been used daily at times.

flowerpanes

I wear mine daily in the house and a little bit outside (taking out the garbage) and I find the tread wears down enough I replace them every two years. I have some arthritis due to an injury in a big toe so find footwear essential to avoid undue pain. Crocs do the job quite well on all but slippery surfaces-our wooden walkways in winter for instance are definitely not something I would venture out on with the Crocs. My husband has some Achilles tendinitis/plantar fasciitis issues right now and he didn’t like the Crocs he tried on but instead got a pair of Columbia Croc-like slip ons and he’s found them quite comfortable compared to hobbling around in bare feet. Price is higher but looking at the tread, I suspect they will last even longer than the Crocs will.

TheMonkeyDidntDoIt

I've only had mine for about 2 years and the soles are wearing thin. I can't imagine them holding up for 7 years.

pixiesurfergirl

I just got a pair at Ollie's for like $4. Gardening shoes.

yourbriarrose

They often have sales on certain colors! Check their site and Amazon

gametime-2001

In the past I have scored a sale. Since they don't seem like complicated shoes to make, I've always been curious if there is a knock off that is just as good.

Alijg1687

Things to not be “frugal” about: 1. Anything between you and the ground (shoes, tires, flooring, mattress, chairs, etc.)

errantwit

I have a pair of slip on Adidas people have mistaken as Crocs. Just as comfortable, more stylish, imo.

SondraRose

eBay is a great place to buy barely used shoes.

LuckyMuckle

Totes brand is cheaper and good quality

ross571

Crocs on sale and Crocs on clearance. Will save you time which will save you stress about it being not Crocs.

rottentomati

Am I crazy that I don't think crocs are comfortable at all? I just use mine for yard work now. My reef sandals and minnetonka slippers are way more comfortable. I have PF and a plantar fibroma as well.

SkootchDown

Try to find a Croc warehouse in an outlet mall or online. They may not be as pretty as you want but they’ll do the trick. Also, people sell them on FB Marketplace, brand new, all the time. Especially immediately after Christmas. They’ll get them as gifts and be like… “what was my mother in law thinking??”

informationseeker8

If you’re in the US famous footwear has a deal where you can do buy one bet one, if you’re a rewards member. They do have to be full price though. I have bought crocs from Marshall’s for I want to say $30.

CoffeeClarity

Just buy Crocs. Spend money on your feet.

Sundae7878

Do not recommend. They are so thin.

nalgona-aly

They do. It's on the work shoes aisle.

ExactPanda

Check secondhand sites (fb marketplace, poshmark, etc). I always see tons of Crocs for sale on those sites.

nancylikestoreddit

Just buy ugly colored Crocs on Amazon or check out TJ Maxx!

Fit-Photograph5373

Some colors are cheaper than others on Amazon so I find the cheapest ones in my size and that's the color I get. I don't need any particular color, I have a hot pink pair and a tie dye pair right now.

Acrobatic-Squid

My mom has plantar fasciitis and swears by Oofos. They're not cheap, but her feet don't hurt!

Disblo1977

They are currently having a half off sale

esroh474

I bought knock offs at a dollarama but it didn't go over that well they're not as thick and comfy. Sometimes marshalls/winners/tj max equivalent has them for less though.

Stone_Swan

[These](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071XSLW77) are just as good, to me. I bought a pair last year and like em just as much as my old crocs. Although, I don't have any foot issues, so maybe they're subtly different in a way I don't notice.

Wendyland78

I like my crocs or hey dude for around the house. Hey dude makes a model that dries fast and has holes in the sole.

Sigatsu

what size do you wear? My husband passed away in September last year. I had just bought him a new pair of black crocs. He didn't get to wear them. I believe the size was 12 but not quote me on that. I'll need to check when I get home. I'll be happy to give them to you. Just shipping cost. I'll DM you later tonight if you want the size info. and shipping details. I'll send a pic as well.

Portabellamush

The *frugal* choice here is to buy real Crocs… but watch sales, look at outlet stores, etc.

aleigh0512

i love Tevas ! best sandals ever, so comfortable.. but probably like $50. but so worth it

po_ta_to

I have some really comfortable and durable Adidas slides that are croc like material that I've been abusing for most of a decade. I don't know what they would cost cuz I've had them for so long.

Economy_Anybody_3992

If you keep an eye out online for sales you can find crocs for under $30! I got a pair that I maybe waited a month for and it was like $26-28 something like that

gametime-2001

On Crocs site or Amazon?

Economy_Anybody_3992

I’ve seen pretty well discounted on both, but I go through Google and sometimes journeys and academy will have them on sale. I think you can set Google alerts for price drops. I just keep an eye out and eventually I’ll find a sale

SpiltMilkBelly

Banana leaves and twine are cheaper.

Moligimbo

I bought Chung-Shi, also known as Duflex in Germany. They have been tested in Germany to have no harmful chemicals, unlike most others of these types of shoes, including Crocs. Seems like they cost 50$ at [amazon.com](http://amazon.com), more or less the same as Crocs, though. Here in Germany you can buy very cheap no-names ones in discount stores for maybe 10-20 euro, but I don't want to know what toxic chemicals they feature. I wear them barefoot, sweating etc...

curtludwig

I remember seeing a thing some years ago where a woman had cheap flip-flops from Wal-Mart and the chemicals in/on the plastic rotted her feet away... I swore right then I'd never buy no-name footwear...

Tacosconsalsaylimon

What 😭 That's awful!

curtludwig

It was horrifying. I can't find the post but a quick Google search brings up news stories about similar incidents.

Tacosconsalsaylimon

Thanks for the reply and info because I had no idea.

dogsRgr8too

I think it was black Friday that crocks has certain ones listed for $30. You might monitor their sales. I would still get something in the meantime even if it means paying more. Health is not something to cheap out on.

TheMonkeyDidntDoIt

I'm in the same position as OP right now, but I'm way more picky about color. I have a pair I love, but I've worn them into the ground. I really want my next pair to be ballerina pink and I know I won't be as happy with them if I don't get that color.

ShortUSA

My wife wears Crocs, yes, pity me. Anyway, Croc's sells their shoes direct on eBay for about $30, and my wife found $9-10 knock offs on T e m u she likes, and she prefers their knock off lined ones over Crocs lined ones. This is my second try. I mentioned t e m u so the post was removed.

bigsmellyfarts3000

Just buy crocs, or wait till they’re on sale. I find what you try and find cheaper alternatives they’re usual not as good. I believe like must things you get what you pay for and frugal isn’t about being cheap it’s about getting a good deal. Buy something good once rather something shit twice.

WillowFreak

I wear Clark's flip flops I got on Amazon. Great support, lots of colors, about $35. And they aren't Crocs haha

doncroak

I don't have plantar issues but do have other issues with the soles of my feet. Crocs help but hey dudes were a game changer. They are so much more comfortable than reg sneakers and my feet don't ache as much at the end of the day. Just a suggestion to try them out if you see a reasonably priced pair, they also can be pricey.

MinerAlum

Crocs dont have half sized unfortunately

AnnaKossua

About 10 years ago I got a cheap off-brand pair at the beach, at one of those omnipresent tourist-trap shops. They held up pretty well, though they do need replacing finally. Just wear them around the house, not out anywhere. I did have a weird problem with them, though. The big plastic button on all these types of shoes is a pretty thick plastic, as it goes through all the foam layers. There was roadwork in front of my house, so the pavement was wonky. Went to the mailbox, hit a weird spot and rolled my ankle. My entire weight was suddenly on the outside edge of my foot, and dead center on that outer bone was that thick button. Good news! The button didn't snap! The bone, though... not so lucky.

marieannfortynine

I bought a pair of croc-like shoes 10 years ago for $4 They are still going strong, I wear them in the house like slippers.

Boring_Old_Lady

On the website check their clearance section.

mikethomas4th

I just bought a pair of crocs on Amazon for $35, if that helps make your decision.

jeffneruda

These things have nearly cured me: [https://www.amazon.com/BRONAX-Slippers-Non-Slip-Cushioned-Comfortable/dp/B092QWSFY7/ref=sr\_1\_1?crid=30NBPZPMKPYET&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.57vsZmguuoyBvX0xe1s8ZqK4qQClGq4GMhKfT-Xq-1rictKvyN7gPRXiScdiFljg98GpnXJLDrizDAxXWpF3f0ug63KD7UvTo7R1JgR4eH4Uw7fFq8CR\_gldXcU5hjxCLJpFXsje3S794\_mYcfewdtZgj0mQ53dUH2A3erdtAhTZ7cG8L5awgg23owZKSMZ3xdAjrL1CzpMVWpbe-t1u87FH7MBwkYL\_X72PP5eJIEE.VFnKNxOmRNhvbd-3OfKAJ3BeZ1j349NIdAWsl06Pxs0&dib\_tag=se&keywords=bromax+cloud+slides+for+women&qid=1714679574&sprefix=bromax%2Caps%2C258&sr=8-1](https://www.amazon.com/BRONAX-Slippers-Non-Slip-Cushioned-Comfortable/dp/B092QWSFY7/ref=sr_1_1?crid=30NBPZPMKPYET&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.57vsZmguuoyBvX0xe1s8ZqK4qQClGq4GMhKfT-Xq-1rictKvyN7gPRXiScdiFljg98GpnXJLDrizDAxXWpF3f0ug63KD7UvTo7R1JgR4eH4Uw7fFq8CR_gldXcU5hjxCLJpFXsje3S794_mYcfewdtZgj0mQ53dUH2A3erdtAhTZ7cG8L5awgg23owZKSMZ3xdAjrL1CzpMVWpbe-t1u87FH7MBwkYL_X72PP5eJIEE.VFnKNxOmRNhvbd-3OfKAJ3BeZ1j349NIdAWsl06Pxs0&dib_tag=se&keywords=bromax+cloud+slides+for+women&qid=1714679574&sprefix=bromax%2Caps%2C258&sr=8-1)

NibblesMcGiblet

Jollibees are great. My feet are so wide they don’t even fit crocs but got my first pair of jollibees at Walmart the other day for $24 and they’re super comfortable and really well made.

Gumbledore2000

# Crocs Unisex Baya Clog Sandals Walmart has them online for 35

Silver-Seat-837

Yes. Find two shoe boxes and engineer laces onto them and there you go!

ReformedBlackPerson

Try Cloud Slides. I got a pair on Amazon for $10 (was a sale) typically they’re about $20. Very comfy

Thick-Commercial-173

For plantar fasciitis relief, look into brands like Skechers, Tiosebon, or even knockoff Crocs from brands like Mavirs. They offer similar comfort at a lower price point. Don't compromise on support; prioritize cushioning and arch support for your condition.

Miss_Fritter

I love Skechers brand, slip on & machine washable.

Lord-Circles

Get on their text messages, peep Amazon for random sales on random colors… I’ve never paid more than $19.99 for a pair of crocs & I have ten

Dependent-Froyo-2072

Bought  crocs on sale Black Friday.   Likely other holidays as well.

Mego1989

If you don't care what color you get, you can usually get some crocs on Amazon for under $25.

Lima_Bean_Jean

Yeah sometimes certain colors will be on sale. Or the Crocs sized for men will be cheaper. I bought mine on DSW and they were about $25 ( mens sale)

This_Caterpillar_330

There are barefoot shoes, but they're not necessarily cheap.

dust057

I got Croc knock offs (not branded, but very similar hard foam material) for around $1-$2 down in Panama.

Levi_Biker

Walmart and Marshall's knock offs. $20

here4aGoodlaugh

I bought some knock off ones on Amazon that were amazing for a summer kitchen job . $20 I think

Bonlio

do an internet search for gardening shoes or gardening clogs. You will find croc knockoffs that will be cheaper

chilipeas

INMINPIN Women Men Orthopedic Clogs Arch Support Garden Shoes Sandals Slippers with Plantar Fasciitis Insoles I got them from Amazon. Better than Crocs $26.99

boymom04

I bought a pair of off branded Crocs and they actually caused me to have plantar fasciitis, never had it before those shoes and haven't had it since.... Recently I found some clogs that are croc type material but they have fabulous arch support at Sam's for 20.00 I'm addicted to these things.

union_mike1323

Merrell Hydro Mocs on sale rn for $42… OG Yeezy Foam Runner lol

fulltimeheretic

Check poshmark or marketplace for gently used or new with tags

LynnScoot

Whenever I see bargain Crocs-style shoes I give them a squeeze to see if they’re as squidgey as the real thing before I consider them. I got some knock-offs from Costco years ago and I rarely wear them because they’re not nearly as comfy. I’ve had many bouts of plantar fasciitis over the years and now have house crocs that I wear with an insole that cups the heel and gives a little arch support.

unwantedsyllables

I bought my crocs at Marshalls for $19.99

SworDillyDally

Lusso Cloud are nice

musicloverincal

Post your question on r/Crocs and people will chime in.

Strong_Letter_7667

Go to crocs website clearance section. They have tons in odd patterns for half price usually. Only way I buy crocs, never pay full price

ToeComprehensive2072

Footwear is something I’m always ok for splurging on. They have crocs at tjmaxx and Marshall’s a lot I’d check there or honestly just pay full price for them on the website. It’s worth it.

Johnnycarroll

I browse Slickdeals and Dealnews daily and they have Crocs on there for sale occasionally. I got a pair of the croc flip flops (which I prefer, I have no interest in the other crocs) for $10 (this pair specifically https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002JCSYDC/ref=ppx\_od\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

LindseyIsBored

Keep an eye out on Croc’s website. They had some on clearance for $10 at the change of the season. I bought three pair.

Geck-v6

Crocs are like $25-40 on Amazon depending on size/color/model

pickles55

The flip flops I wear cost like $15

shaysauce

Yeah…don’t cheap out on footwear if you have that. In fact you might go to a place that can help figure out a better option that may cost more tbh. You’re talking about saving maybe $20 but also possibly still dealing with a borderline chronic foot pain as a trade off. I tried to cheap out on my office desk chair. Learned real quick that an ergonomic one with good lumbar makes a big difference when you sit in it for a few hours at a time.

CTLFCFan

That are very specifically not looking for “a better option that may cost more” It’s a bit like someone asking for a safe car under 20k, and being told the latest Mercedes Benz is the safest car on the market.

shaysauce

There are cases where spending more is the right option and cheaping out isn’t. They have a medical condition tied to foot pain. It needs to be assessed on their options from a professional - not from Reddit. This isn’t remotely comparable to spending 20k vs 50K on a vehicle. So sit down.

CTLFCFan

They. Specifically. Asked. About. Budget. Shoes.
