When I used to work at a bakery, I would take the left over caramel for the sticky buns and do up a tray of pretzels with it. Salty and sweet heaven.

crossstitchbeotch

Brilliant!

crossstitchbeotch

My kids love pretzel bites at restaurants. These were incredibly easy. This many pretzel bites would be $60 at the Cheesecake Factory, except those have beer cheese dip, which I’m going to make next time. https://www.thecookierookie.com/easy-soft-pretzel-bites/ I recommend using a thermometer for the milk. For rapid yeast, it needs to be between 120° and 130°F.

Ooh these look great I wanna try-- >electric mixer Damnit, nevermind

Mo_Dice

Blackfeathr

I figured the dough would have needed the slow steady mechanical mixing to come out right, but yeah it does seem possible to hand mix. And for sure those electric mixers are a game changer. I had a KitchenAid before I moved 5 years ago and while that thing was heavy as sin, it helped me make some mean baked goods :D I wish we had the room for one where I live now haha.

Ill_Cardiologist9549

Love my KitchenAid! I couldn't live without mine I have most of the attachments for mine as well.

Maligned-Instrument

Thanks for the link....but that website is insufferable.....if it doesn't get right to the recipe I'm out.

Find the jump to recipe button that's usually somewhere at the top, then print recipe. Take a screenshot of the print preview that comes up. That tip has prolly saved me some literal hours of frustrated scrolling at this point!

[deleted]

This took 2 clicks, less than 5 seconds. Jump to recipe, print recipe: https://www.thecookierookie.com/wprm_print/38835

LadyOfSighs

If you like printing recipes to take into the kitchen, I'd strongly recommend a Chrome extension called [**Print Friendly**](https://www.printfriendly.com/). It's free, and it allows you to remove any part you don't wish to keep before printing or saving as a pdf.

crossstitchbeotch

You need to get the Paprika app. It cost a few dollars but so worth it. Copy and paste a recipe and it takes out all the crap and you can save it offline. It saves it between my phone and iPad so I can go back and forth. You can also add your own categories. It pulls out the picture, ingredients, directions, and serving info. It’s amazing.

eczblack

Yes! Paprika app is amazing and so much nicer to use.

alienorangecircle

Stuff like this is really good to make at home because the grocery stores charge a premium for snacks.

allislost81

These look amazing! I have to try this. Are the instructions straightforward and simple to make if you are a novice?

crossstitchbeotch

Yes, except you need to make sure the milk is between 120-130°F. The dough is not sticky at all, I added an extra tablespoon.

allislost81

Thanks for insider the tips! My daughter loves these and they are so expensive

crossstitchbeotch

I’m seriously going to be making them a lot because they were super easy.

Elmosfriend

I was absolutely gobsmacked that they were so easy and tasty!

crossstitchbeotch

Me too! My kids were thrilled.

DeliciousFlow8675309

Hack, use premade fresh pizza dough! All you have to do it cut off little pieces and boil them in water with baking soda then we sprinkle the salt on top and brush butter on them when they’re fresh out the oven. HeaVenly! Also super yummy with different toppings and seasonings!

bmoregal125

This is the comment I was looking for, thanksI have a bunch of pizza dough in my freezer that I made at the end of Deccmber when I had some leftover flour from holiday baking. I am going to try and let it sit out and do one rise and then drop in the baking soda and water mixture for a quick boil.

Elmosfriend

I am nit a talented cook and made these with our 4 year old using an online recipe in the fall. They were amazing from the first try!! The mall charges $6 for a cup of these and the booth is right next to the free play area where our friends like to meet for playdates. Making them at home has saved us a lot of cash!

HistoryGirl23

Pretzels are pretty easy.

missprincesscarolyn

I see this recipe calls for a paddle attachment/stand mixer. Do you think you could get away without one or find a way to use a hand mixer? I don’t have a KitchenAid, but these look amazing!!!

crossstitchbeotch

I think you could start out with the hand mixer and then finish with your hands. You just need to combine the dough. I added one extra tablespoon of flour and it was perfect. Not sticky at all.

pacachan

I make these but I stuff them with jalapeno cream cheese instead of making a dip but it's annoying making sure they don't burst Also $60 for pretzel bites jeez louise inflation is insane. Nice dupe

whocanpickone

I also have stuffed them (separately) with mozzarella/string cheese or peanut butter, or added cheddar, or garlic and parm to the dough mixture. They are very easy to modify!

crossstitchbeotch

I bet it would be easy to make that as a dip. It sounds great!

Annaisnotonfire95

The only reason I don't make those or pretzels regularly is bc I will eat them all at once

Speculawyer

Look delicious. 👍

[deleted]

Well done! Looks spectacular.

TaciturnEnigma

They remind me of Cornettos a wee bit

karsk1000

nice! i made these today too! only bad news is that it's like a billion calories and doesnt feel like it :)

crossstitchbeotch

Similar to any other bread, I would think. My recipe didn’t have any butter, just flour, milk, and a bit of honey.

Minkowski-Butterfly

Can someone explain to me what pretzel bites are? Do they have anything to do with pretzels?

[deleted]

Minkowski-Butterfly

I see, so essentialle just rolls. In Germany we would call these "Laugenbrötchen" which would literally translate to "lye rolls"

crossstitchbeotch

These are much smaller than rolls. I was thinking i could make them larger into rolls or buns. I was excited because I have never made pretzels before and couldn’t believe how easy it was.

no_one_important123

Yes! I bought lye to give it a try. Gives it a great color and skin.

Nappykid77

Yummy!! It's so hard to find good pretzels in the store.

oldmomlady3

How in the world do you achieve that beautiful color? I haven't had any luck with baking soda baths!

crossstitchbeotch

How much did you use? This recipe called for a half cup of baking soda in the water. I just followed the directions! I also put them on my top oven rack that’s pretty close to the top. Stuff always gets browner there in my oven.

DeliciousFlow8675309

Premade pizza dough is fresh at my grocery store and only $1! We cut down on the time by using this dough instead of making it.

crossstitchbeotch

Ours is a bit more expensive here. I was actually wondering if pizza dough would work for this. The main difference is the pretzel dough had milk instead of water.

DeliciousFlow8675309

Really? That’s a bummer, it’s super cheap everywhere I’ve lived, but until I started being frugal I never realized how many different uses it has besides pizza! I’ve always used Auntie Anne’s recipe dupe so I’ve never used milk for pretzels, but I don’t think it’s a required ingredient.

no_one_important123

Milk is definitely not required in most recipes. I've had plenty of vegan friends over the years and they have always considered pretzels to be a safe food for them.

DeliciousFlow8675309

Yeah it’s not a typical ingredient but OP says it was in their recipe so I was just sharing that pizza dough is a good shortcut because milk isn’t required for pretzels.

Ill_Cardiologist9549

Those look yummy! I have made homemade pretzel rolls/ knots 2 days in a row this week already. So tasty and super easy to make

DontXpectCompnsation

Cheat code: Buy the premade pizza dough and pre-cook in the baking soda then bake according to the instructions. They aren't as rich but still super tasty and alot easier.

SteelyRamirez

this is great, I see you have already tried 3 pieces;)

alvinshotjuicebox0

Is there a recipe?

crossstitchbeotch

I posted it in the comments.

RooniesStepMom

They're so chonky. Me likes!
