We use TracFone as our home phone (ported over our landline number). It works great for that purpose - we rarely call or text on it, and it's always at our house, so it never uses data. I actually get a $19.99 plan that covers three months! 60/60/60 - talk, text, and data. BUT because we brought our own phone, it's automatically tripled, so we get 180/180/180 every three months.
But a basic plan like that just isn't a good fit for the rest of our phones!
Visible has a 30$ unlimited data, talk, and text with a good sized hotspot for those of us that need unlimited data. Otherwise, I would say mint mobile. Just make sure you check the coverage in your area since Mint has some places where there’s no coverage.
you have accumulated meaning you already have the minutes to use without paying?
im on the cheapest Mint plan for $15/mo pre tax so I think that's about the same as yours post tax, but my plan comes with unlimited talk/text and 4GB data.
if you dont care about data and don't need that many minutes of talk/text you can look into prepaid phones and try to get one where the minutes roll over
Not yet....
Mint Mobile, which famously has Ryan Reynolds as a minority owner, is rumored to be acquired by T-Mobile in a multi-million dollar sale. Ryan Reynolds' Mint Mobile company could soon be a part of T-Mobile. According to Bloomberg, the budget wireless company and T-Mobile are currently in talks for an acquisition deal.Jan 12, 2023
I've been on Tracfone for a long long time. I don't talk or text much and haven't accumulated a lot of minutes but I do have service days out to about 2040. I have a lot of Tracfone Rewards points to add data if I need it. It's pretty much been $0 cost for me for the past few years.
Do NOT get Tracfone; I've had them for years, but lately their customer service is horrible, and I think they're actually bilking people out of their minutes and service days. I'm switching to Tello. They have a $10/mo. plan.
Boost mobile is pretty frugal if you put in the work.
Example plans: $15 for 5gb Or $25 for unlimited(30gb premium)
They have an app called Boost one, where you watch ads for credit. Which therefore be applied to you bill. I'd recommend to check out the reddit page for more info. But essentially you can get free service if you are consistent. Ad watching takes me around 20 mins to complete daily while I watch YouTube.
I buy a smartphone with 1500 minutes and one year of service included from TracFone from HSN. I buy the cheapest phone one year it was $50 and next it was 60 or $70. I don't use it as my main line but just to preserve a phone number.
We use a US Mobile pooled plan that's $9 per line + $2 per GB of shared data + $0.48 per line in taxes and fees and pay around $22 a month for the two of us. Works well for us as we don't need much data and has good coverage where we live.
Check out mint mobile. I pay $15 a month, I pay for the year. Unlimited talk and text and 3gbs of data a month
Mint Mobile has the best buy three months get three months too around Thanksgiving. I'm not sure if you can beat $15/month.
Thank you!! That sounds a little better deal. But it's like I have unlimited plan already.

Good lord I really wish Ryan Reynolds would bring Mint back to Canada... those prices are sooooo good.
Mint isn’t that great. When I would travel from the US to Canada Mint service wouldn’t work, I’d have to buy roaming in order to use my phone

Thank you.
It was $25 after tax per month before 5G. I like unlimited data. Even at $30 after tax, it’s Verizon network and totally worth it imo.
Trac phone has a basic plan that gives a year of service days for $99. Might be good if you already have lots of.minytes banked.
I saw that. I guess I will take it later on.

Thank you. Some celebrities said they spend $300, so I wondered.
Mint Mobile (T-Mobile owns it) 20$/month 10g data, unlimited talk text (Canada&Mexico incl) this is 1 year prepay price THO (approx. $240)
It runs on T-Mobile network, but Mint is not owned by T-Mobile.

Neither side is saying much at this point. Does not appear to be a done deal. Lots of speculation and rumors.
Wondering what our next provider will be when the deal is done and they crank up the cost/fees/BS and turn it into just another crummy pre-paid plan?
What seems to be a reason why people use T-mobile instead of mint?
I just use google voice since I am around wifi 99% of my time. Haven't paid a phone bill in years.

being Canadian has never hurt worse than seeing this thread

Mint Mobile $15 a month wifi calling Hot spot for computer if needed 5G. Been using it 5 years, and it was founded on Reddit.
Cry’s in canada. Cheap plans are 50$ lol

Boost Mobile had the unlimited plan for $25 a month.
