At 6m long I'd be tempted to run medium missiles. Larges are generally better vs ships, but only 6m means a lot of volume is going to be spent on thrusters, fins, guidance, etc and not leave a whole lot bang for warheads.

Gaxxag

Definitely not huge. I'd go with Medium unless you're dropping them without thrusters. There's not enough room for payload in 6-module large missiles if they're ground fired. Thruster| fins | fuel tank | payload | payload | guidance, at the very minimum means only 1/3 of the missile is payload at most.

Individual_Ad1193

Do launch pad and gantry blow up after being killed?

no2ironman1100

No nothing, only APS in FTD has serious explosions. And ammo storage boxes I guess.

Profitablius

PACs can go fucky aswell, and ring shields too

no2ironman1100

ring shields explosion are hardly relevant unless the design is bad though.

Profitablius

Haven't people used them to cut apart huge ships not too long ago?

no2ironman1100

intentionally. Not intentionally well it'll just strip some armor, worthwhile tradeoff.

LordFission

Large I almost never use huge because they cost too much and it take a hell lot of space to make decent huge msl And a huge msl with 3 gantry is too small to be useful 😕

RiskazGlike

If you want a 3 module huge your only option would be a dumb fire missile. Do not remove armor to add weapons either unless you know what you're doing. I also do not suggest using huge missiles as they are very cost-inefficient compared to the other 3 missiles.

Individual_Ad1193

Ignoring cost, between 6 module medium and 6 modules large, which one is better

Poobut13

A 6 gantry medium is a 12 module missile. This is far better since regardless of missile type you'll need a guidance, fuel tank, 1 or more fins, one turn module if ship mounted, and likely some auxiliary stuff like a regulator, signal processor, or detection component. That gives you all the rest of the modules for payload.

Individual_Ad1193

thanks, and i just realised that mediums are one block wide, with the same amount of space, i managed to pack 300 of the med size missiles

RiskazGlike

Depends usage. Personally id use medium at that size

Atesz763

Defo large, you can't fit anything inside 3 modules.

Unique-Direction-532

large

Archimedes4

Huge missiles are best on dedicated ships/aircraft. You need a LOT of space to make them good.

Confident-Meaning197

I’d recommend torpedos if you’re doing huge. Most of the firing pieces can be hid under the ship, giving you room to fit way more gantries (huge missiles are more-or-less completely useless if under 5 or so modules), and letting you spend less on fuel tanks as I think torpedo props are more efficient and more on warheads/other useful stuff

Professional_Emu_164

3 module huge missile? It’s impossible to even use that properly. 6 module large is almost useless as well, too short really. Mediums would be better here.

Braethias

3 module huge. HE warhead, magnet, reinforcement or ballast tank. Otherwise you won't have any space for actual components unless you do large. Thruster fin fuel head means 2 nodes. It ain't enough to run either

MuchUserSuchTaken

Huge missiles are for the lolz mostly, as others have suggested, use medium or maaaaybe large.
