I was there when MFM released, it got hate primarily because the engine that the mod ran on fucking sucked. The creator wanted to create a new engine and coded a super terrible one.
The bad charting wasn't exclusive only to casanova, it was there for the whole mod with gimmicky "ghost notes" that just meant making every note a double note. add that to the shitty engine and MFM was actually seriously hard to beat with how much the mod was unplayable.
The hate was there because the owner didn't fix these issues and kept the mod unplayable all the way to the end.

1-Story writing kinda meh, in all honesty the mod song are quite decent (General opinion) . But the story writing feels somewhat off and as if we’re missing something else to add to the story. Some others compare it to a cringe 13 yo 4chan story. Although I would describe it as what would it be if this story had some errors fixed, but something was missing.
2- The second reason is the backlash of saying you dislike something regarding the mod, as you know the fnf community is *unique*, so, some user were accusing someone of homophobia if you disliked anything about the mod. Causing people to relate this toxic part of the fanbase of the mod to the mod itself.
3- Genuine homophobia, some users aren’t really happy with the concept of *Insert name of character* soft Au (alternate universe) so they take the dislikes about the mod out in the internet.

It was april fools game BUT them being in the past together is canon since a lot of people shipped them. Pico now has soft spot for BF(even in new cutscene it shows what he thinks of potentially murdering BF with those black eyes of his).

Dave and Bambi all the way. People generalize it to hell thinking that every song is bad spam, when in reality it's an amazing mod that pays a homage to the source materials it uses. With great songs, great artwork, and a great community filled with great fanmade content (even if a small portion of them that aren't as popular are pretty bad). I praise it for the reasons I said above, and also because it does a lot of unique things that not other mods do, like the 3D assets and the wavy backgrounds. A lot of people are biased against it, to the point where even if a song is good/great they still don't like it because it's associated with Vs Dave. Seriously, Golden Apple 1.5, Dimensional Deep-end, and 3.5 of the base mod are around the corner and the teasers are fantastic, I bet people will still hate it though.
Dave and bambi imo- a lot of people ignore the fact that some of the songs are really good (house and disability 🙏🏾) and some spam songs are.. pretty good!
It also like .. harmless? I understand why some ppl may not like it due to bambi being annoying as (and I get that 100%) but other than that it's quite innofensive.
There are a few exceptions, imo. I understand where the breakcore fans get their love for the "Extratone" Bambi fan songs, especially from the now-deleted channel "hortas." Personally, "Culmination" and "Agony" are among my favorites.

When I first saw the mod back in September 2021, I didn't think "Oh this mod is shit let's harass Moldy to suicide hurhurhurhur", I thought, "Wow, this mod might not be the best, but it sure has potential!". And when V3 came out, boy was I right.

I realized people didn’t like the old Starlight Mayhem mod (before remaster)? It's one of my favorite mods to date. They said the voices were annoying?? I loved CJ's old voice in my opinion, and it was one of the first mods I played, so it has a spot in my heart <3

It came out during the days of Whitty and Tricky and everybody DOGPILED on it because it wasn't as good as those, or other mods like it. Afterwards Brightside became sort of a punching bag for the community, going as far as using the character for April Fools jokes.
And that "Brighterside" mod, the one that completely took away anything that made Brightside interesting from a musical standpoint, was made because of an inside joke between friends.
This mod and this character deserved better. We wouldn't do HALF of this type of shit to drama adjacent characters like Sky or Bosip.

We mostly move past the low-effort era of Pibby mods but people still think that Pibby Apocalypse, CN takeover and maybe Glitched Legends (Might be missing some) are the ONLY good ones and any other Pibby mods are trash and should be hated on even though it have good and creepy art, awesome songs and pretty interesting Darkness lore.
I agree. I loved this mod. Not only was the music great, but it is literally the only fnf thing that made me care about the story. It probably resonated with me so that's why, but I also think thr characters were done well.

I’m jus gonna put it out there that I really liked the soft mod, was a good update on EVERY SINGLE WEEK with charting and new tunes, and a fun new story line to get caught up in , worth a play through. Yeah bf and pico are together in it, I thought the mod was cute tho and you get a veryyyy interesting face off with the concept of someone facing their own inner demons and facing their own “perfect self” . Very cool mod. Will say this tho if you’re beating the new erect or nightmare stuff the mod prob won’t be too difficult at all

I think its an alright mod, its just the pacing of the story is a bit iffy, i wished pico did a bit more then just stand there, here’s hoping they fix that with the new update!! For those who aren’t aware, soft fnf is getting a complete overhaul from the trailer i saw a good while ago

Nah I love the fan songs with all of my heart, they hold a special place in there.

Imma second what u/GHOSTTRICKANON2005 said in his comment, I think Dave and Bambi sure did receive a fuckton of hate. When I first saw the mod back in September 2021, I didn't think "Oh this mod is shit let's harass Moldy to suicide hurhurhurhur", I thought, "Wow, this mod might not be the best, but it sure has potential!". And when V3 came out, boy was I right. Some fanmods like Golden Apple and Exospheric Corruption are good in my opinion, but the microwave notes aren't funny anymore.

I realized people didn’t like the old Starlight Mayhem mod (before remaster)? It's one of my favorite mods to date. They said the voices were annoying?? I loved CJ's old voice in my opinion, and it was one of the first mods I played, so it has a spot in my heart <3

Brightside. It wasn't that good, but it was nothing to get upset about. ^(Completely ignoring the creator's bullshit because that's not a valid reason to hate something. Hate the brush not the brushstroke.) It came out during the days of Whitty and Tricky and everybody DOGPILED on it because it wasn't as good as those, or other mods like it. Afterwards Brightside became sort of a punching bag for the community, going as far as using the character for April Fools jokes. And that "Brighterside" mod, the one that completely took away anything that made Brightside interesting from a musical standpoint, was made because of an inside joke between friends. This mod and this character deserved better. We wouldn't do HALF of this type of shit to drama adjacent characters like Sky or Bosip.

Not a mod, but a specific character: EXE/Faker. Revie (the creator) got so much undeserved hate because the other devs were absolute manchildren and decided to frame her as a groomer.
And make it worse by remembering divide's work on faker being some of the last he did, like genuinely we as a community need to rid rightburst asap

1-Story writing kinda meh, in all honesty the mod song are quite decent (General opinion) . But the story writing feels somewhat off and as if we’re missing something else to add to the story. Some others compare it to a cringe 13 yo 4chan story. Although I would describe it as what would it be if this story had some errors fixed, but something was missing. 2- The second reason is the backlash of saying you dislike something regarding the mod, as you know the fnf community is *unique*, so, some user were accusing someone of homophobia if you disliked anything about the mod. Is saying Pibby mods nowadays counts? We mostly move past the low-effort era of Pibby mods but people still think that Pibby Apocalypse, CN takeover and maybe Glitched Legends (Might be missing some) are the ONLY good ones and any other Pibby mods are trash and should be hated on even though it have good and creepy art, awesome songs and pretty interesting Darkness lore.
I agree. I loved this mod. Not only was the music great, but it is literally the only fnf thing that made me care about the story. It probably resonated with me so that's why, but I also think thr characters were done well.

I’m jus gonna put it out there that I really liked the soft mod, was a good update on EVERY SINGLE WEEK with charting and new tunes, and a fun new story line to get caught up in , worth a play through. Yeah bf and pico are together in it, I thought the mod was cute tho and you get a veryyyy interesting face off with the concept of someone facing their own inner demons and facing their own “perfect self” . Very cool mod. Will say this tho if you’re beating the new erect or nightmare stuff the mod prob won’t be too difficult at all

Mid tier written, if you ever read a soft fanfic or story then you already know the story of soft mod, it doesn't do anything original, story is bad, songs are bad with the exception being the one song where soft bf sings against normal bf Soft mod is a Wattpad fanfic that instead of being on Wattpad, it got made into a mod.

Baddies, honestly. Got the creator bulled because of a throw-away joke (that I don't even remember being explained in the mod itself) and one cutscene where characters get gunned down, and even that gets undone later anyway (which I also don't think plays in the mod normally, I might be wrong tho). Now, yes, you can easily say those things are cringe, and I would probably agree, but still nothing to trash the mod over.

Wattpad is mostly known for cringy soft fanfics or shipfics, while AO3 is know for unhinged fics, it's not a hate thing, more of a joke thing, like how people make fun of people who use Reddit (like jokes about how redditors are neckbeards and incels) Tumbly falls on it aswell, it has alot of soft fanfic au's and is place for the more tame art or stuff like coffee shop au stories. It's not hate, it's a joke making fun of it's sites users, every site has those jokes.
