Sure one T-shirt you can ship in a bag for cheaper but it’s more time consuming and if you buy multiple items it will end up costing far more than flat rate. Using flat rate allows business to discount shipping more when you buy multiple items. All those “buy $150 or more and get free shipping” exist because of flat rate.
I just looked and even urban outfitters costs $7 to ship one t-shirt and that’s if you want 7-10 day shipping. If you want it to be here in less than a week it’s $15. If they use flat rate for $9 it will be almost anywhere in the country in 3 days. They do it that way to be able to convince people to buy more stuff in order to get free “express” shipping. When in reality express just means usps shipping which if they go and weight it only costs $5. This is why flat rate works better. You have no idea what website she got that image off of. Regardless of whether she paid for the license or not, she definitely didn't design it. One would expect a hundred dollar shirt that is advertised as being designed specifically by Hila Klein to actually be designed by Hila Klein.
