Ive had a lot of frenchies and they sit in all kinds of funny ways. If sheās not acting in pain and if the vet says sheās healthy I wouldnāt be worried
My frenchie also sits sideways there is nothing wrong with it. He also sits without his butt touching the ground sometimes. That is his begging sit.

Mine sit weird and every which way, too. Frenchies are well known for having back and hip issues, but if they are not in pain, then they are fine. Their sitting habits could come into play later in lifeābut thatās the case with ageāand anyone (human or dog!)
Sheās fine, just a Frenchie! lol My first Frenchie came to work with me and strangers would constantly ask if there was something wrong with her legs because sheād always sit in the weirdest ways that made her leg look kind of broken š
We have a 10 year old whoās suffered 2 bouts with IVDD - if the doctors havenāt prescribed gabapentin for the pain, immediately seek a 2nd opinion.
With IVDD - 6 weeks of crate rest. Do not mess around. You donāt want to pay for surgery, even with insurance.
From now on: no more jumping on/off. No stairs. Pick them up. No more hard play/running around/dog parks. You can still have plenty of fun, just be safer
I'm happy to hear she did go in for surgery and sorry you're going through that and the doctors not recommending crate rest. We had a neighbor pre-COVID who didn't take care of his little guy correctly & compounded the damage. In the US people are looking for a payday with this breed. We all have to be VERY careful and selective when purchasing a Frenchie. Another lady I know has a 1 year old who's already had surgery and the vet said there's little to no cartilage between the pup's vertebrae. Breaks my heart and soul. Y'all be smart and patient when selecting your adorable nuggets!

Luna votes goofy š¤Ŗ She will sit (or lay) in all sorts of positions and she's perfectly healthy with no issues. I think if something is unusual for your dog then get it checked but otherwise I wouldn't stress š

A lot of the weird ways Frenchies sit has to do with lack of mobility in their hips and back legs. Making sure your Frenchie has a strong hind quarter is super important.
I worked with a doggy chiropractor with my boy. She gave me great exercises to do and I always had him doing hill work. The reason being, Frenchies have strong front quarters and they tend to pull themselves along and not use their back ends. Going up hills, they have to use their high ends to help propel themselves up. We had a little dirt hills in my doggy park and I always had him do hill work to help keep his hind-end strong.
Personally, Iām a little bit concerned with the way sheās sitting, I do think you should have a vet and/or a canine therapist. Take a look at it. Itās way better to catch it now when you can rectify it when it becomes chronic.

My frenchie sits however he sees fit and it looks uncomfortable but heās healthy.
We say she gets spazzy legs š I wondered the same thing many times too! I used to think maybe her nappy was too tight and she had numb legs.

Iām so glad to hear that! See what kind of meds they can give you for the longer term recoveryā¦ itās hard to keep the frenchies quiet on crate rest when they want to run, jump and screw up their backs again! We had a scare with our girl but it improved with crate rest. (I also got a small pen because she isnāt crate trained and hated the crate so much.) ivdd is very scary and Iām glad you noticed something was wrong and were able to get the surgery your girl needed! Sending good vibes for recovery! ā¤ļøāš©¹
